Halliburton’s latest results showed modest revenue growth, international strength, and earnings above estimates. Management expects mid-single-digit revenue growth and margin expansion in 2027, while North American weakness and softer free cash flow remain central risks. The company also completed its first Brazilian deployment of ROCS technology with Petrobras, expanding its deepwater service offering.

  • Reiterating BUY at current price levels

Founded in 1919 (by Erle P. Halliburton as the New Method Oil Well Cementing Co.), Halliburton today is one of the world's largest energy services companies, with operations in more than 70 countries. The company helps customers maximize value throughout the lifecycle of the reservoir -- from locating hydrocarbons and managing geological data, to drilling and formation evaluation, well construction and completion, and the optimization of production. Halliburton employs 46,000 people and the shares are a component of the S&P 500 index.

We are in the busiest period of the current earnings season, as nearly 900 U.S. publicly traded companies will be reporting this week alone. That means we are also at the time when insider transactions slow to a trickle because insiders are broadly restricted from trading right now. So there are significant short-term offsets to the current insider-sentiment data from Vickers Stock Research. Still, the general themes this week are 'flat' (with the index-based sell/buy ratios from Vickers little changed from last week, but generally holding the improving trend that appeared before earnings season began) and 'volume impacted' (as Vickers reports that the average number of open-market transactions per sector this week is a mere 11.5). The sector with the most activity is Financial, with 46 transactions (20 sells and 26 buys) that meet the criteria for inclusion in Vickers' Weekly Insider Report. The sector with the least activity is Utility, with zero transactions. Digging deeper into the eight-week sector ratios, 10 of the eleven sectors within the market now hold bullish sell/buy ratios. These include the Consumer Discretionary, Consumer Staples, Energy, Financial, Healthcare, Industrial, Information Technology, Materials, Real Estate, and Utility sectors. Meanwhile, the Communication Services sector holds a neutral eight-week sell/buy ratio. This week, analysts at Vickers highlighted insider transactions of interest at Bluerock Private Real Estate Fund (NYSE: BPRE) and Elevance Health, Inc. (ELV).

  • Differentiated Solutions Are Helping Halliburton Gain Some Share

Halliburton is North America’s largest oilfield-services company as measured by market share. Despite industry fragmentation, it holds a leading position in the hydraulic fracturing and completions market, which makes up nearly half of its revenue. It also holds strong positions in other service offerings like drilling and completions fluids, which leverages its expertise in material science, as well as the directional drilling market. While we consider SLB the global leader in reservoir evaluation, we think Halliburton leads in any activity from the reservoir to the wellbore. Halliburton's innovations have helped multiple producers lower their development costs per barrel of oil equivalent, with techniques that have been honed over a century of operations.
