Finland-based Nokia Oyj acquired a majority stake in Alcatel-Lucent SA in January 2016. Having completed the sale of its mobile device business to Microsoft Corp. in April 2014, Nokia is now primarily a network communications equipment provider. The company has realigned its operating model to four main divisions: Mobile Networks, Network Infrastructure, Cloud & Network Services, and Nokia Technologies.

We are in the busiest period of the current earnings season, as nearly 900 U.S. publicly traded companies will be reporting this week alone. That means we are also at the time when insider transactions slow to a trickle because insiders are broadly restricted from trading right now. So there are significant short-term offsets to the current insider-sentiment data from Vickers Stock Research. Still, the general themes this week are 'flat' (with the index-based sell/buy ratios from Vickers little changed from last week, but generally holding the improving trend that appeared before earnings season began) and 'volume impacted' (as Vickers reports that the average number of open-market transactions per sector this week is a mere 11.5). The sector with the most activity is Financial, with 46 transactions (20 sells and 26 buys) that meet the criteria for inclusion in Vickers' Weekly Insider Report. The sector with the least activity is Utility, with zero transactions. Digging deeper into the eight-week sector ratios, 10 of the eleven sectors within the market now hold bullish sell/buy ratios. These include the Consumer Discretionary, Consumer Staples, Energy, Financial, Healthcare, Industrial, Information Technology, Materials, Real Estate, and Utility sectors. Meanwhile, the Communication Services sector holds a neutral eight-week sell/buy ratio. This week, analysts at Vickers highlighted insider transactions of interest at Bluerock Private Real Estate Fund (NYSE: BPRE) and Elevance Health, Inc. (ELV).
