about Oracle now. Let's um let's have Mark frame it for us because that that is something that that I'm interested in. Uh having it has been one of the weakest links. Yesterday there was euphoria over um what's troubling Darius.
00:15 Speaker A
So, um and and and I'm I'm not saying you're not right, Darius. I mean, I run a business too and negative free cash flow in our case is not a good thing. Um but what do you think, Mark? What does it look like to you?
00:27 Mark
Well, look, I mean, it's it's been hit extraordinarily hard since last fall and and Oracle as a stock is has been slowly but surely trying to stabilize in recent months.
00:39 Mark
I actually think a lot of what happened just since July when the stock started to lift. I mean, volume was very, very high uh yesterday and arguably, uh the stock seems to be attempting to stabilize and carve out it. I think the street appreciates that they actually put, you know, a number as to providing a runway to investors about free cash flow. I think that's very positive, but
00:58 Mark
you know, for me, looking at uh technical analysis, I I always find that, you know, when when stocks move with big really big ranges on big volume, you really have to respect that. Um I I just I'm not always fond of trying to buy dips on things that are down near 52-week lows just because it's always a
01:12 Mark
you know, two-step forward, one step back type process and would much rather own things like cybersecurity than then try to buy big laggards like Oracle, but, you know, I I sense the company's going to be uh phenomenally profitable. Uh
01:25 Mark
you know, I I think the street uh, you know, in the last couple days, really we've seen a pretty decent move in the stock and and so regardless of whether it's down today,
01:34 Mark
um, you know, I I think it's honestly a good buy and hold as to whether I'd, you know, overweight it here or make it a top holding. I think that's going to take time for me technically and so you really want to see the stock get up above uh
01:47 Mark
you know, where is it trading now? 138. So it's really got to clear almost 170 before we really start to gain some momentum. So I think, you know, you have to let this marinate a bit and and I trust that the company is
01:57 Mark
going to be headed in the right direction and simply look to add on strength, which is, you know, obviously different than what a lot of people do. Everybody likes to to think they can catch the bottom, but uh, you know, sometimes you can sit along the bottom for months and months if not a year. You really want to wait until the stock starts to work for you.
02:11 Mark
And I think we'll start to see that with many of these software companies, uh, you know, in the months to come.
