Free 3D File Compressor Online
Reduce 3D model file sizes for free — nothing is uploaded, and you can start without an account. Meshy removes duplicate vertices and unused geometry data from GLB, GLTF, OBJ, STL, PLY, and FBX files directly in your browser; the default Lossless tier keeps every polygon, and on GLB, GLTF, and FBX the optional stronger tiers add Draco compression for much smaller files.

Why Choose Meshy's 3D File Compressor
Lossless Cleanup and Optional Draco Compression
Removes duplicate vertices, merges redundant materials, and prunes unused data without changing your model. On GLB, GLTF, and FBX, the optional Balanced and Maximum tiers add Draco geometry compression and WebP textures for much smaller files.

Fast, In-Browser Processing
All compression runs locally in your browser. No server uploads, no waiting — results are ready in seconds.
Privacy by Design
Your files never leave your device. Every step of the compression pipeline runs entirely client-side, ensuring complete data confidentiality.

Popular Format Support
Works with GLB, GLTF, OBJ, STL, PLY, and FBX. Each format is handled by a purpose-built optimization pipeline for maximum compression efficiency.
No Sign-Up to Start
Compress up to three files free without creating an account. After that, sign in to keep going — every run still happens locally in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions
We currently support GLB, GLTF, OBJ, STL, PLY, and FBX. Each format is processed with a tailored optimization strategy: GLB and GLTF files undergo geometry deduplication, material merging, and unused data pruning; OBJ, STL, and PLY are re-exported in optimized binary form; and FBX files stay FBX by default, with a GLB output option for animations and the stronger tiers.
On the default Lossless tier, yes — for visible geometry, compression is fully lossless. The optimizer removes duplicate vertices, merges redundant materials, and prunes unused nodes, but never discards, simplifies, or approximates any mesh data. The optional Balanced and Maximum tiers, offered on GLB, GLTF, and FBX, are lossy by design: they add Draco geometry compression and re-encode textures to WebP to shrink files far more, at the cost of a small, controlled loss of precision.
No. The entire compression pipeline runs locally in your browser via WebAssembly and JavaScript. Your file never leaves your device, and no data is transmitted to any server at any point.
Results depend on the format, the file's redundancy, and the tier you choose. On the default Lossless tier, a clean, well-exported GLB often does not shrink at all because there is no redundant data left to remove; files that do carry duplicate vertices or unused scene data typically come down 0–20%. The Balanced and Maximum tiers, available for GLB, GLTF, and FBX, shrink textured models by 60–98% by adding Draco geometry compression and re-encoding textures to WebP. OBJ, STL, and PLY benefit mainly when they are stored as ASCII: re-encoding them to binary often shrinks them several-fold. If an STL or PLY is already binary there is usually nothing left to remove and it may not shrink at all — in that case you get your original file back rather than a larger one.
Nothing at all. The tool runs entirely in your web browser — no plugins, no extensions, no downloads. Just open the page, upload your file, and compress.
The current limit is 200 MB per file. Processing time depends on both file size and complexity; most files complete in seconds, but highly detailed models on lower-end devices may take a bit longer.
Absolutely. Every run writes a standard file in the format you chose: a fully standards-compliant binary glTF file for GLB, GLTF, and FBX runs that use the GLB container, an FBX file for FBX runs that keep the FBX container, and the original format for OBJ, STL, and PLY. All of them work with Three.js, Babylon.js, Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot, and virtually all modern 3D engines and web viewers — no special import settings needed.
You choose. The FBX page can output either FBX or GLB. FBX output keeps your file's format but cannot carry animation — the writer covers static geometry only. GLB output preserves the animation clips and also unlocks the Balanced and Maximum tiers, which use Draco compression. If your FBX is animated and you need the motion, pick GLB.
