Frequently asked questions

Yes. With Node.js 22.12 or later, run npm install -g meshy-cli, then meshy auth login to sign in through your browser.

Use generation, post-processing, downloads and local workflow commands. meshy make chains the documented text or image flow; endpoint commands and meshy api provide more control. CLI and MCP capabilities evolve independently.

No. Sign-in opens your browser once — an OAuth flow, with no key created or pasted into a shell profile. An API key is still accepted as an override for CI. The MCP server available today does use an API key.

Yes. Alongside the browser flow there is a device-code path for headless machines — the CLI prints a link and a short code to approve from any other device — plus a manual paste-back fallback.

Humans, scripts and AI agents can call the CLI. MCP clients call the separately installed MCP server. Both call the Meshy REST API; the CLI does not run through or require MCP.

meshy-cli is developed in the open in the Meshy GitHub organisation, alongside the MCP server.
