3MF Converter

Convert 3MF files into any popular 3D format, or turn another 3D file into 3MF. Everything runs in your browser, so there is no upload, no login, and no software to install.

What You Get with Meshy's 3D Model Converter

All Major 3D Formats

Convert between OBJ, FBX, STL, GLB, GLTF, USDZ, 3MF, PLY and more — the format set that covers games, printing, AR/VR and product visualization pipelines.

Geometry & Texture Fidelity

Meshes keep their geometry, normals, UVs and material colors through conversion. GLB and GLTF round-trips preserve textures so your asset looks the same in every engine.

No Install, No Signup

Everything runs in the browser. Upload a model, pick a target format, download the result — no software, no account, no upload queue.

About the 3MF File Format

The .3mf file format was introduced by the 3MF Consortium in 2015 as a modern replacement for STL in additive manufacturing. A 3MF file is a ZIP package: an XML model part holds the mesh, plus optional parts for materials, colour and print settings, so one file can describe both geometry and how it should be printed. Its unit is always millimetres, which is why slicers trust it without a scale prompt. The format carries per-object and per-face colour; this converter reads the whole package and writes the geometry back.

What Survives Conversion to 3MF

Every 3D format carries a different slice of a scene. This is exactly what Meshy's converter writes into a 3MF file, and what it leaves behind.

Geometry is what survives. Meshy's 3MF writer merges every mesh in the scene into a single object and writes the Core specification's mesh part with one white filament — the container can carry UVs, materials and per-object colour, but this export does not write them. Assign filaments per part in Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer or OrcaSlicer after downloading, or convert to GLB or FBX when the appearance data has to travel with the model.

Who Converts 3D Models with Meshy?

3D Printing Hobbyists

Turn game rips, downloaded models, or CAD exports into STL for your slicer — swap FBX to STL without learning a DCC tool.

Game Developers

Convert assets between engine-friendly formats: OBJ to GLB for web builds, FBX to GLTF for runtime loading, without breaking materials.

E-commerce & Product Teams

Prepare product models for 3D viewers on storefronts — GLB and USDZ cover every major platform's viewer format.

Architects & Visualizers

Bring CAD and SketchUp models into real-time renderers and AR previews by converting to the formats your toolchain accepts.

Frequently Asked Questions

3MF is a ZIP package holding the mesh plus materials, colour and print settings, and it always declares millimetres; STL is a bare triangle list with no units, colour or structure. Both are print formats, but 3MF is the one that can describe what a model is made of. Meshy's 3MF export writes geometry only, so colour is something you add in the slicer.

No. The export merges the scene into one object with a single white filament, so per-object and per-face colour from the source does not survive. Open the .3mf in Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer or OrcaSlicer and assign filaments per part — the geometry is already correct.

Because it is the largest single conversion cluster we see: people who downloaded a .3mf from a model site need a plain triangle mesh for a tool that only reads STL. STL discards colour and materials, so use the reverse direction — STL to 3MF — when you want a slicer-ready package instead.
