Dawn Dobras shared thisActually, W-T-F! WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association). The female economy (actually the entire economy) is fuming. 😡 The situation: GAME 6 of the WNBA finals is being played DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY to accomodate a regular game of the Men's NBA game. (no offense to the hawks or cavs-- but no one really cares about your regular game). I'm dreaming of the day when the W "accommodates" game 6 of the men's finals and "allows" them to play during the day. This makes NO business sense, with the Golden State Valkyries selling out chase center and the economic benefits of watch parties, merch and ticket sales being pushed to a daytime slot. Come on Atlanta- get it together. SF Mayor Daniel Lurie 丹尼爾·羅偉 has recommened that everyone "start coughing now" so it's believable when you call in sick to work on Thursday with a terrible case of Valkyries fever.

Dawn Dobras shared thisAt our Capital F AGM last year, Margaret Coblentz and I said that putting the word "female" at the center of an investment strategy was contrarian. And unfortunately, it still is. The difference this year: we closed a $17M fund behind it. * Women drive up to 85% of consumer spending *~$50 trillion moves into women's hands over the next 20 years * Women's health has produced $100B+ in exit value in 25 years, half of it in the last 5 But by all measures, funding hasn't followed. That arbitrage is why Capital F exists. Tuesday at our Capital F_ AGM at the Presidio, we showcased six of the top 1% founders Fund I has backed: Mika Eddy, Malama Health -- improving maternal health outcomes, Suhas Manangi, Precognition Labs -- led Trust & Safety at Snap, Airbnb and Lyft, Kelly Lacob, Xella Health -- turns your health data (now integrated with Oura) into answers Anurag Jain, 2x founder, ex-lead of Google's $30B travel vertical Nancy Li Smith, Boop AI -- steal your trips from someone with taste Nicole Alvino, -- 3x founder reshaping hiring for frontline workers Oh, and for the eagle eyes 👀 ... yep, that's David Rosenthal of the Acquired podcast, dropping his insider takes on the world's best companies. #superfan Thank you to our AGM sponsors Citizens, Cooley LLP Sydecar and Frank Rimmerman. #FemaleEconomy #WomensHealth #VentureCapital #CapitalF

Dawn Dobras shared thisNow I know what I want to do when I grow up! HUGE congratulations to the FIRST EVER women's 80's boat in the Head Of The Charles Regatta. These ladies are breaking records left and right, and I'm so proud to get to follow in their footsteps (with another awesome race in the books!) The data shows that women live longer but in poorer health and this group of women is showing just the opposite-- as competitive athletes in their E-I-G-H-T-I-E-S! #LFG. It's also a reminder that it's never too late to go viral. Coverage in the Boston Globe Media Marin Independent Journal National Geographic and TV's stations all over. And congrats to Sandy Armstrong for creating the culture at Marin Rowing Association where we never stop going for gold! 🥇

Dawn Dobras shared thisBig week. Inc. Magazine covered our debut fund. Margaret Coblentz and I started Capital F on a simple fact: women drive 85% of consumer spend, and the markets that matter most to them are still underbuilt and underfunded. Venture Scale businesses, not "pink it and shrink it". We write first checks into the founders (regardless of gender) closing that gap. Grateful to Amie Sheridan for telling the story, and to the LPs and founders who made it one worth telling. Link in comments.

Dawn Dobras shared thisWomen influence 85% of consumer spending. Most of the markets built for them are still running on outdated infrastructure and data nobody bothered to collect. That's the $15T gap Capital F was built to close — and today we're sharing our $17M debut fund. Thank you Dominic-Madori Davis and TechCrunch for covering it. Raising a new venture fund is not for the faint of heart and I'm lucky enough to do it with Margaret Coblentz and the best LP's around. But it's WAY easier than being a founder and we get to back some of the best out there. #LFGDawn Dobras shared thisCapital F, one of the few all-female-led VC firms, announced Wednesday the $17 million close of its debut fund. The firm backs companies building in the “female economy” — or the markets where women drive demand. That mainly falls into three buckets for the firm, Margaret Coblentz, the firm’s co-founder, told TechCrunch — women’s health, […]Capital F closes $17M debut fund with goal to back the future of the 'female economy' | TechCrunchCapital F closes $17M debut fund with goal to back the future of the 'female economy' | TechCrunch

Dawn Dobras shared thisWe know our age. Sometimes we know our "health age". But finally, you can know your Reproductive AGE. It's another major step forward to opening up the black box of women's health. Congrats to Xella Health and the amazing team of Kelly Lacob, Adriana Dantas Jesus Ching Taylor Hansen for the launch to a waitlist of over 15,000 women. https://lnkd.in/gtFWxASa Proud to have Xella Health in the Capital F porfolio.

Dawn Dobras shared thisEvery investment has a story. I love when it starts with Women's Health. Four years ago, I met Michelle Larivee when she had ONE WTHN wellness studio and a bold vision: make acupuncture accessible and a real part of everyone's health routine. (And yes — you can use your HSA dollars. Now even easier!) Fast forward: L Catterton, Top Corner Capital, Dream Ventures, Halogen Ventures and a growing cap table of believers have joined her on this journey. Today, I was the very first client through the doors of location #5️⃣ — landing on the Upper East Side for all you lucky New Yorkers. If you've ever opened a retail store, you know the beautiful chaos that happens before the first customer walks in. I loved being behind the scenes today — part of the magic in the making. Michelle, watching you and team, build this has been one of my favorite front-row seats. Can't wait until you come to California. We are waiting. #WomensHealth #Wellness #Acupuncture #FounderStory #EarlyStageInvesting

Dawn Dobras shared this🚀 Healthcare is now a consumer product. Oura Ring (confidentially filed for IPO). Function Health ($2.5B+). Midi Health ($1B+). And here's what the data makes clear: women are driving this entirely. 100% of Midi patients, 60% of Oura Ring users, 50%+ of Function Health members are women. After years of being gaslit, women are arming themselves with better data, better care — and paying for it. That's the female economy at work: up to 85% of consumer spend, $32 trillion annually. At the Citizens Women in Venture Retreat, Capital F sat on stage with three of the people building this future: Joanna Strober (CEO & Founder, Midi Health), Dr. Tiffany Lester (Function Health), and Kelly Lacob (CEO, Xella Health — our portfolio company). What we're watching: → AI is unlocking women's health data at an unprecedented scale → Menopause, fertility, endometriosis — finally getting the science and the capital they deserve → Personal health stacks are mainstream: HRT, creatine, sauna, strength training → Own your data. Engage your doctor. You're always your own best advocate. → With IPO momentum building (Oura just filed), women's health is one of the brightest spots in the market Capital F backs the consumerization of women's health: Xella Health, Malama Health, Stardust, Hey Jane, and Stellar Sleep. We're early innings — and we're here for it. ✨ Thank you Citizens Bank, Caroline Hale, Pranitha Patil, Melanie (Mel) Strong, Kate McAndrew, Pam Kostka, Katherine Rice, Catherine Bohutinsky Lee, Lisa Sugar, Safa Aliabadi, Meggie Ramirez, and the full crew who made this happen. #WomensHealth #FemaleEconomy #VentureCapital #CapitalF #WomenInVenture

Before consulting, I was CFO of Old Navy and Specialized Bicycle Components , operating at scale in highly dynamic environments. Over the past year, I have shifted to COACHING CEOs and CFOs who are managing overlapping pressures around growth, profitable marketing strategies, and cash management. I enjoy being a thought partner who’s been in the seat, understands the trade-offs, and helps cut through noise to make better decisions. Dawn Dobras liked thisDawn Dobras liked thisA few weeks ago, during #LATechWeek, I joined an incredible group of women at the SHE Media / Flow Space Women’s Health Summit to discuss the next era of women’s health. From AI and wearables to personalized care, we explored how innovation is changing the way women understand and manage their health. The real opportunity isn't just better technology, but it's having the right conversations with your doctor, embracing all of life's stages, and connecting science / data / care to meaningfully improve women's live's. Loved sharing the stage with Jenny Duan, co-founder of Clair Health, and Ashley Turner, LMFT, whose work in midlife mental health brings such an important perspective. It was also so fun meeting #MichelleMonaghan, who is doing great work raising awareness around sun protection. Thank you to Lauren Iannotti for moderating and to SHE Media and Flow Space for bringing together such inspiring voices to move women's health forward! #womenshealth #womenshealthcare #womeninwellness
