/ How it runs
Six steps of IoT solution development, from the first call to a fleet in the field, with a checkpoint at the end of each.
A discovery session maps your devices, users, data flows, and business goals, then sets the architecture: what runs on the device, at the edge, and in the cloud, and why.
AI predictive maintenance DiscoveryWe select or adopt the boards, sensors, and gateways, then write the firmware and embedded software, with power budget, update path, and device identity decided up front.
On-device edge AI DeviceDevices connect over MQTT, HTTPS, or Bluetooth Low Energy to AWS IoT, Azure IoT, or a custom IoT platform, with secure onboarding and telemetry pipelines in place from the start.
AI real-time optimization ConnectThe platform stores and processes device data, runs rules and models on it, and puts live dashboards and alerts in front of the people who act on them.
AI telemetry & anomaly detection PlatformCompanion iOS, Android, and web apps let users pair, monitor, and control devices, while custom software connects device events to your ERP, CRM, and billing.
AI automation & energy tuning AppsField pilots, load and security testing, and a staged IoT solution implementation across sites, then monitoring, firmware updates, and support for the fleet after launch.
AI telemetry & anomaly detection Rollout/ Questions, answered
An IoT development company designs and builds the full chain that makes a connected product work: device firmware and embedded software, connectivity and communication protocols, the cloud infrastructure and IoT platform that collect and process data, and the web and mobile apps people use to monitor and control devices. Brainvire covers that chain end to end, with AI built into predictive maintenance, edge intelligence, and telemetry analytics.
IoT consulting and IoT architecture, embedded systems and firmware, device-to-cloud connectivity, custom IoT platforms and IoT dashboards, data analytics on sensor data, companion mobile apps, cloud integration with your ERP or CRM, and support after launch. You can bring us in for the whole IoT product development cycle or for one layer of it.
Yes. IoT app development services are a core part of the work: the iOS, Android, and web IoT applications that let users connect smart devices, monitor them, and control them. The dockless-scooter case on this page is one example, a mobile app that unlocks scooter hardware over Bluetooth Low Energy after a QR scan is authenticated against the server.
IoT app development, or IoT application development, is building the software people use to work with connected devices: onboarding and pairing, live device data, alerts, remote commands, and history. Good IoT apps handle devices that drop offline and come back, and keep the app's view of each device consistent with what the device last reported.
We build on AWS IoT and Azure IoT, and on custom IoT platforms where a managed service does not fit the device mix or the cost model. The Device to Cloud Accelerator on this page ships secure device onboarding, gateways, and telemetry pipelines on either cloud. For Google Cloud IoT workloads, Google's connected-device architecture guidance describes three patterns: an MQTT broker, an IoT platform, or devices publishing to Pub/Sub.
MQTT is an OASIS standard messaging protocol for the Internet of Things. It is a lightweight publish/subscribe transport designed for connecting remote devices with a small code footprint and minimal network bandwidth, and it is used across industries such as automotive, manufacturing, telecommunications, and oil and gas. That efficiency is why it is a common default for device-to-cloud messaging.
AWS IoT provides the cloud services that connect IoT devices to other devices and to AWS cloud services. AWS IoT Core supports MQTT, MQTT over WebSockets Secure, HTTPS, and LoRaWAN for device communication, and its Device Shadow service makes a device's state available to apps and other services whether the device is connected or not.
Microsoft describes Azure IoT as its portfolio of services for connecting, managing, and deriving intelligence from IoT devices and industrial equipment at scale. Azure IoT Hub connects devices directly to the cloud over standard protocols such as MQTT, AMQP, and HTTP, and Azure IoT Operations is Microsoft's recommended platform for new edge-connected solutions in industrial and OT environments.
MQTT, HTTPS, and WebSockets for device-to-cloud traffic, Bluetooth Low Energy for phone-to-device links, GPS and RFID for tracking, LoRaWAN for long-range, low-power sensors, and OPC UA on the factory floor. We choose communication protocols by power budget, range, latency, and what the IoT hardware already speaks.
Yes. Our Edge and Firmware practice covers embedded software, firmware, and gateways that run intelligence on the device, including on-device computer vision and inference. We work with your hardware vendor's boards and SDKs, and we plan how firmware will be updated in the field before the first device ships.
Edge computing processes device data close to where it is created, on the device or a nearby gateway, instead of sending every reading to the cloud. It matters for time-critical decisions, sites with patchy connectivity, and data that should stay on-site. Microsoft notes that edge AI in Azure IoT Operations provides response times measured in milliseconds for scenarios such as quality inspection and anomaly detection.
Yes. Many IoT projects start with the hardware already chosen, and custom IoT development wraps around it: the connectivity layer, the backend, IoT dashboards, and the apps. On the smart-parking platform shown above, we connected cameras, entry and exit barriers, and payment hardware through Bluetooth Low Energy and the cloud.
Sensor data arrives fast, in bursts, and in different formats, so the first job is to normalize it into one schema and route it to hot storage for live views and cold storage for history. From there, models flag anomalies and feed predictions, while analysts work on the history. On the smart-parking platform, a Big Data architecture with AI stores high-volume sensor data and pushes real-time updates to drivers.
Models watch sensor telemetry such as vibration, temperature, and current draw, learn what normal looks like for each asset, and raise a maintenance alert when readings drift toward a known failure pattern. Our Predictive Maintenance Accelerator packages that AI layer, so teams start from a working model instead of a blank page.
Security has to be built into every layer of IoT systems: a unique identity and certificate for each device, encrypted transport, device authentication, least-privilege access policies, signed firmware updates, and monitoring for devices that behave out of pattern. We design it in at the architecture stage, because retrofitting security onto a fleet already in the field is far harder.
NIST's IoT cybersecurity program publishes the NISTIR 8259 series, guidance for manufacturers and their supporting third parties as they conceive, design, develop, test, sell, and support IoT devices. NISTIR 8259A sets a core device cybersecurity capability baseline. We use it as a checklist for device identity, configuration, data protection, and secure updates.
Testing covers every layer: firmware testing on real hardware, connectivity tests under weak and lost signal, scalability testing of the backend with simulated device fleets, and security testing of devices, apps, and cloud endpoints. After launch, continuous monitoring and maintenance keep the fleet healthy as firmware, apps, and cloud services change.
Industrial IoT solutions for manufacturing, connected vehicles and mobility, smart cities and infrastructure, smart home and buildings with app and voice control, wearables and health IoT, and asset and fleet tracking in logistics. Each sub-sector gets custom IoT solutions rather than a template, and each has its own practice area on this page.
Yes. Enterprise IoT solutions earn their keep when device data reaches the systems that run business operations: ERP, CRM, maintenance, and billing. We build that cloud integration so a sensor alert can open a work order or a finished ride can post to billing, which is where IoT pays back in operational efficiency. The smart-parking platform above ties parking events to an e-wallet that debits each driver automatically.
It depends on scope. A proof of concept on existing hardware can run in weeks, while a full product with custom hardware, firmware, cloud, and apps runs in phases over months. Our accelerators state their own time to value, from 4-8 weeks for a live predictive-maintenance model to 6-10 weeks for device-to-cloud plumbing.
Usually, yes. A proof of concept on a handful of devices validates the sensors, connectivity, and data before full-scale development, and hardware prototyping catches design issues while they are cheap to fix. From there, an MVP proves the product with real users, and the architecture is planned so the system can scale from pilot to full rollout.
Cost depends on how many layers you need (hardware, firmware, cloud, and apps), the number of device types, the connectivity involved, and your compliance scope. We scope after a discovery session and price in phases, so you can commit to a proof of concept before a full rollout. There is no rate card here, because scope drives the number.
Yes. You can engage a dedicated IoT development team of IoT developers, embedded engineers, cloud engineers, and IoT app developers, or bring us in for IoT software development services on a fixed-scope project with a defined outcome.
An IoT developer builds software that runs on or talks to connected devices: firmware and embedded software, device connectivity, backend services that process data, and the apps and IoT dashboards on top. Teams that build IoT systems need several of these skills working together.
Ask for documented IoT projects with hardware in the loop, not only dashboards. Check that the team covers firmware, connectivity, cloud, and apps, or that you know who owns each layer. Ask how they handle device security, offline devices, and firmware updates in the field, and who supports the fleet after launch.
One team with IoT expertise covers the device, the cloud, and the apps, so fewer problems fall between layers, and AI is part of the build rather than an add-on. Brainvire brings 14+ years of experience, 1,000+ Brainers, 10+ global offices, and a 95% client retention rate, and the IoT work on this page spans smart parking and connected mobility.
Yes, when device data drives decisions. The value now comes from acting on that data with AI, at the edge and in the cloud, which is what turns an IoT pilot into a change in how the business runs.
