/ VAT and the National Bureau for Revenue

Bahrain VAT, produced by the ledger.

Your VAT return comes out of Odoo, not a spreadsheet. We set the 10% rate, your filing cycle and bilingual tax invoices, so every figure on the return traces back to the invoice behind it.

The rate

10% where it applies, from day one

Bahrain’s standard VAT rate has been 10% since 1 January 2022. We set it on every standard-rated tax group and remove the old 5% rate that still understates invoices in inherited systems.

The return

Built for the cycle you file on

Article 48A of the VAT Executive Regulations sets monthly or quarterly filing by your annual VATable supplies. Odoo runs on your cycle and moves cleanly if the Bureau approves a change under Article 48C.

E-invoicing

Structured data, ready when the Bureau asks

The National Bureau for Revenue has published no e-invoicing mandate for Bahrain. We still build structured, auditable invoice output, so your ledger is ready the day a format is published.

What we build

Control accounts that reconcile to the return

Tax groups and control accounts your adviser confirms, fiscal positions for exports, zero-rated and exempt lines, Arabic and English invoices, and a drill-down from every return figure to its invoice.

E-commerce

One stock figure, everywhere you sell. Your Shopify, Adobe Commerce or Magento store reads price and availability from Odoo and writes orders straight back, so a promotion never sells what a branch already sold.

E-commerce platform integrations shown: Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Adobe Commerceand more

ERP Systems

Replace an older system in one step or in phases. Odoo can take sales, stock and point of sale first, and finance moves across once the operational side is proven.

ERP system integrations shown: SAP, Sage, Gusto, QuickBooksand more

EDI & Marketplace

Aggregator and marketplace orders land in one Odoo queue with one set of statuses. EDI documents for hypermarket and wholesale buyers come from the same orders, so no purchase order is keyed twice.

EDI and marketplace integrations shown: Amazon, SelluSeller, Walmart, eBayand more

Shipping Gateways

Goods arrive by sea, air or causeway, and plenty leaves again. Odoo carries each shipment through booking, rate comparison, clearance and landed cost, with Aramex, DHL and regional carriers connected.

Shipping gateway integrations shown: ShipStation, UPS, FedEx, ShipHawkand more

Taxation

This is where your VAT return comes from. Tax groups, control accounts and fiscal positions set each line’s treatment, and the return is reconciled against those accounts before you submit it.

Tax and compliance integrations shown: Avalara, TaxJar, TaxCloud, Tax Exemptand more

Payment Gateways

Local card and wallet payments usually run through your bank’s hosted payment page. We write the Odoo payment provider for it, post provider fees to their own account and give your accountant a daily reconciliation.

Payment gateway integrations shown: Authorize.Net, PayPal, Adyen, Stripeand more

Other Integrations

Bank feeds, Power BI dashboards, WhatsApp Business and document management all read from Odoo. Which system owns which record is agreed in scoping and written down before anything is connected.

/ How we deliver

Four stages, a working demo at each.

You see working software at every checkpoint, with one named owner throughout. Timelines follow scope: 8 to 12 weeks for a small implementation, 12 to 24 for mid-market, 6 to 12 months for enterprise.

01020304
Step 01

Discovery and scoping

Half a day with the people who do the work, to list every registration, branch and system and agree what phase one must cover.

Step 02

Design and data

Chart of accounts, tax groups, price lists and bilingual layouts built in a sandbox for your accountant and storekeeper to click through.

Step 03

Build and integrate

Configuration, then the bank feed, payment page, carriers and storefront. Each sprint ends in a build you can use, not a status report.

Step 04

Test, train, go live

Your staff close a full period and run a day of stock movements on your data. Then a monitored cut-over, with the same people on hypercare.

/ Cost and support

What moves the cost, and who stays after.

You get a written scope, not a rate card: which modules go live first, how the old system retires, what moves the price and who supports you after go-live.

Modules

Phase one closes a period

Accounting, Sales, Purchase, Inventory and CRM go first, because together they close a month and clear a warehouse. POS, Manufacturing, Helpdesk and the rest follow, chosen by sector.

Migration

Cut over only when the books agree

Masters, opening balances, open invoices and stock go into a sandbox and must match the old trial balance on two separate dates. That is why go-live weekends stay quiet.

Support

The builders stay through month-end

The team that built it stays through your first month-end close and stock count. Then a named consultant, agreed response tiers, backups and a planned annual upgrade.

Cost drivers

Seven things that move the number

Apps and phases, registrations and currencies, integrations, data quality, custom build, hosting and training. Integrations move the estimate most, because payment pages and carrier APIs are real engineering.

/ Bahrain kit

Bahrain-ready before the first workshop.

Your rollout starts with the Bahrain-specific pieces already built: tax, bilingual documents, payroll and group structure, carried over from earlier Gulf programmes.

Compliance

A ledger that produces the return

Tax groups, control accounts and fiscal positions arrive pre-built and already reconciling, set to the filing cycle you are actually in.

/ Questions, answered

Odoo ERP in Bahrain, answered.

How long does an Odoo implementation in Bahrain take?

Scope decides it, not geography. A small implementation takes 8 to 12 weeks, mid-market 12 to 24 weeks and an enterprise programme 6 to 12 months. Version upgrades take 3 to 8 weeks. The tax set-up always sits in the first release, because an invoice layout is cheap to design and expensive to unpick.

What drives the cost of an Odoo implementation in Bahrain?

Scope, integrations and data. The number of apps and phases, registrations and currencies, the systems Odoo must connect to, how clean your data is, and how much is custom once Studio has been tried. Hosting and training complete the picture. We quote against a written scope, never a rate card.

What VAT rate and filing cycle does Odoo handle?

Bahrain’s standard 10% rate, and whichever cycle you file on. Article 48A sets monthly or quarterly filing by annual VATable supplies, and some residents and branches may request annual returns. Your adviser confirms your position; we configure the tax groups, fiscal positions and return to match it.

Can one database run our companies across the Gulf?

Yes. Odoo holds each commercial registration as its own company, with its own books, sequences and fiscal position, sharing one product, customer and price-list master. Entities in other Gulf markets keep their own tax regime and filing calendar, intercompany invoices post both sides at once, and consolidation is a report.

Can you migrate us from Tally, Focus, Zoho or QuickBooks?

Yes. Masters, opening balances, open invoices and bills, serial numbers and stock move into a sandbox first. The trial balance has to agree with the old system on two dates before a cut-over is booked, because a go-live where the numbers do not tie is an incident.

Do you work in Arabic?

Yes. Odoo runs right-to-left Arabic as standard, and we design the document layouts so each quotation, invoice, delivery note and payslip reads correctly in Arabic and English from one record. Project meetings, documentation and support run in English.

Where will our Odoo data be hosted?

Wherever your board is comfortable. Odoo Online is the simplest option, Odoo.sh adds a deployment pipeline, and your own AWS or Azure tenancy in a nominated region suits data-residency conditions. Whichever you choose, access is mapped by role and data flows are documented before go-live.

What Odoo work can we see?

Start with the four case cards on this page; each opens the full case study. Beyond them, Ajmal Perfumes runs Odoo CRM and POS beside SAP across over 180 retail locations, AmiViz moved from Zoho to nine Odoo apps in six months, and GOWell Petro runs its asset lifecycle on Odoo.

Can your team work on-site in Bahrain?

Yes. A dedicated team runs your Bahrain project and is on site in Manama whenever the work needs it: discovery workshops, user training and the go-live weekend. We keep to normal working hours in Bahrain, and a senior architect replies to any enquiry within one business day.

Is Brainvire an Odoo Gold Partner serving Bahrain?

Yes. Brainvire is an Odoo Gold Partner, the tier Odoo sets at 300 new Enterprise users a year, six certified internal resources and 80% retention. As an official partner we can carry your Enterprise subscription, Odoo.sh hosting and the build on one contract.
