Training

What equipment will I need to participate in NN/G Live Online courses?

You'll be streaming video and audio to your computer, and also speaking with other participants. Make sure you have:

  • A laptop or desktop (using a tablet is not recommended)
  • A stable high-speed internet connection
  • Speakers or headphones
  • A microphone
  • A webcam
How will I get the link to the Zoom meeting for the course?

60 minutes before your course begins, your link will be available when you log into your NN/G profile.

Can I join from my phone or tablet?

We do not recommend attending our classes from a small-screen device. Although you will be able to connect to the meeting, it will be difficult to see the detailed examples shared during class, and extremely difficult to participate in collaborative exercises which require typing and interactive documents.

Can I watch a recording of the course?

Live Online courses are live events hosted on Zoom that extend throughout the day and include many periods of interactive exercises. The learning experience cannot be replicated by simply watching recordings after the event. We will not be making course recordings, and making your own recordings is not permitted.

Can I repost or link to any part of an NN/G slide deck or other training materials from a course?

No, you may not repost or link to training materials, including handouts or slide decks. Course content is for the exclusive use of participants, as fair use does not cover use that harms the market value of a product. Please review our Terms and Conditions for more information.

How many people can attend private team training?

Our courses are designed to accommodate at most:

  • 50 people for in-person private team training
  • 70 people for virtual private team training

Can I repost or link to part of an NN/g article on my website, online class, or social media post?

Yes, you are welcome to link to any NN/g content found on our site. Fair use covers minimal use (for example, 1 paragraph or 1 image) of our content. When using our content, cite NNgroup.com as the source and do not remove our name, logo, or watermark from images.

UX Certification and Exams

How long does it take to get UX Certified?

UX Certification requires taking over 30 hours of training and passing 5 online exams.
UX Master Certification requires taking over 100 hours of training and passing 15 online exams.
It takes most people more than 2 years to complete this level of certification.

Is there a deadline for completing UX Certification or UX Master Certification?

No. There is no deadline for completing all courses and exams for each type of UX Certification. The credit you earn after passing an exam will not expire.
However, each exam must be taken within 35 days after the course.
Check on your completed courses and exams in your NN/g account.

Does UX Certification expire?

No. Our courses are designed to give you a solid, lasting UX education. Once you achieve UX Certification, it does not expire. We will reissue an updated certification when you take additional courses and pass the exams.

Why is there a separate fee for the exam?

Taking the exam is optional; the fee applies to those wishing to pursue UX Certification. The exam fee covers the cost of running and maintaining the examination system and UX Certification program.

When can I pay for the exam?

You can pay the exam fee when registering for a course, or you can pay after attending the course by purchasing an exam credit from your profile. Exam fees paid prior to a course are subject to the same refund policy as tuition; exam fees paid after a training event are non-refundable.

How will I access the exam?

After the class ends, if you have signed in and attended the course, you will be able to access your exam.

Can you provide accommodations for the exam?

Yes. We provide reasonable adjustments for individuals who need accommodations. These adjustments are individualized, so we consider them on a case-by-case basis. Please contact exams@nngroup.com if you need accommodations.

Can I reprint an image from a Nielsen Norman Group report in an educational textbook?

Yes. You may reprint NN/g copyrighted images as long as you cite and acknowledge the source, including linking to the original article, book, or report.

How can I re-download a report that I ordered or receive a copy of the invoice?

Please email support@nngroup.com with the order number (if available) and contact name and email of the person who placed the order, so we can re-send the report download link or the invoice.

Do you offer educational discounts on reports and books?

No, we do not offer discounts on these products. We suggest purchasing a group license for reports and placing it on a secure, password-protected server so your organization can benefit from the publication.

Can I return a research report for a refund?

No, All sales are final. Nielsen Norman Group reports, videos, and books are informational goods, and immediately consumable after digital download or delivery. Please refer to our return policy for more information.

Can I upgrade a report from an individual license to a group license?

Yes. You just need to pay the difference in price. Contact support@nngroup.com with your request and order number.

Why hasn't my report been emailed yet? I paid via bank transfer.

Bank transfers often take 3 to 5 business days to process. If you would like to initiate a wire trace to track the funds, you may do so by entering your order details here, under Billing Information. You may also email support@nngroup.com and attach a copy of the funds-transfer confirmation from your bank.

We need a tax refund or VAT refund, can you reimburse us and issue a tax-free invoice?
