Few months back, our recruiting team at Unbox Robotics decided to double down on outbound and rethink how we hire senior tech and leadership talent. That’s where Weekday AI (YC W21) came in. From giving us access to a massive, high-intent talent pool to running targeted, multichannel outbound with correct contact details. What I love most is that, it hasn’t just improved speed to hire — it has simplified our entire workflow so we can focus on evaluating great people instead of juggling multiple tools. Huge shoutout to the Weekday team Chetan Dalal, Amit Singh and Nikita Gupta for being a true partner in helping us close some of our most critical roles, and excited to continue building the next phase of Unbox with their support. If you’re scaling engineering/product/design teams and are tired of low-quality inbound or poor response rates, I’d strongly recommend giving Weekday a shot. #hiring #startups #deeptech #AI #UnboxRobotics #Weekday #recruiting #talentacquisition

A deeptech startup that just raised a $28M Series B is using Weekday to hire 2 out of 3 key senior leadership roles. Quick context: Redstart Labs (Infoedge) and ICICI Venture backed Unbox Robotics is a Pune based AI-powered warehouse automation company. They have already deployed more than 500 robots and are aiming to cross 3,000 units in the next 2 years. After having used Naukri and LinkedIn for years, the 4-person recruiting team at Unbox now prefers Weekday for most of their 50+ annual hires. Before switching to us, they were using a bunch of different tools and providers to stitch together different workflows to make a single hire. Coupled with poor reply rates and their non negotiable bar for core engineering talent in their niche, they were losing both time and $$. When I sat down with Murtuza, who's one of their senior talent acquisition partners, he said Weekday literally does it all now: 1/ Access and search the database with millions of candidate profiles 2/ Narrow down to a really tight list (ranked by intent) 3/ Get their correct contact info (both email and WhatsApp) 4/ Send targeted outbound drip campaigns And consistently get over 50% reply rates and close critical open roles. We've not only saved them thousands of dollars and upped their efficiency but also helped reimagine how effortless both sourcing and closing could be. "If you stop existing tomorrow, I'd badly miss at least 70% of the use cases your platform offers" → from someone with 15+ years in recruiting. Would love to continue working closely with the Unbox Robotics team and help them hire dozens of solid tech talent in the next couple of months. If you too are hiring for 10+ critical engineering/product/design roles this year and struggling with low quality inbound/poor response rates, let's talk.

With just a three-person recruiting team, a Series B startup backed by Insight Partners closed 60 specialized roles last year with Weekday and preferred us over a $36M-funded competitor. Lyric is a decision intelligence platform helping Fortune 500 companies optimize supply chains with the best use of data, algorithms, and compute. - Recently raised a $50M Series B - Grew 10x in 2 years - Grew headcount from 50 to 240 people in 24 months - Hired almost 100 new employees from India in 2025 Challenge was to hire for 100+ specialized R&D roles annually (backend engineers for data platforms, platform engineers for composite products, etc.). So basically an insanely high bar for talent but crippled by bandwidth with a small team of three responsible for all forms of hiring. Out of 98 hires in 2025: - 60% came through Weekday - 35% from referrals + inbound - 5% from agencies Our multi-channel outreach consistently delivered 50%+ response rates. across 400+ reachouts vs. 20-30% on LinkedIn. Next, while most databases have stale data, our APIs did the heavy lifting and ensured 99% of candidate emails/phone numbers were accurate. Finally, each recruiter at Lyric can now tackle 10-15 roles at any given time and close 50+ hires per year (>1 offer/week) while maintaining the same bar. What keeps the motion running: 1/ They never ran out of candidates They could confidently reject "maybe" candidates because they knew that countless better ones existed in the pipeline 2/ The entire talent universe was accessible When filtering for niche roles like backend engineers for ML systems/data platform specialists, our database was deep enough to find them 3/ Multi-channel sequencing did the manual work 48-hr drip campaigns across email, WhatsApp, and calls meant by the 3rd touch, they got full closure in the form of either "interested" or "not now" Anjanay has been a serial founding recruiter at a bunch of mid to late-stage companies and directly hired hundreds of folks over the years. He has tried everything from Naukri to Instahire and Juicebox to LinkedIn, but according to him: "Weekday (YC W21) is a league ahead. No one solves both sourcing and outreach at scale like you guys!" So while Lyric went from 50-240 in 2 years, their recruiting team didn't 5x. They hired 60 folks through Weekday and are planning 80-90 more in '26. If you too are hiring for 10+ critical engineering/product/design roles this year and struggling with low-quality inbound/poor LI response rates, let's talk.

Email vs WhatsApp vs Calls - what actually works in Indian B2B sales? Most sales advice online is which I recently read is written for the US. I believe, Indian B2B works very differently. - Email Great for credibility. Bad for urgency. Works best after a call-proposals, decks, follow-ups. - WhatsApp Crazy open rates. Zero tolerance for spam. Works only when there’s context- a call attempt, LinkedIn connect, or intro. - Calls Still king in India. Trust builds faster on voice. Objections surface early. Deals move faster I’ve realised most outbound doesn’t fail because sales reps are bad! It fails because of wrong timing or mostly wrong (often outdated) data. Get those two right and almost any channel works. Curious - which channel has actually worked for you in India? #founders #b2b #b2bsales #India #curious #startup #leadgen #sales #SDR #growth Weekday (YC W21)

Lately I keep hearing two extremes in B2B: “Content is dead. Everyone is selling.” “Outbound is dead. Nobody replies.” If both are going to be dead… what’s going to work next? Curious to hear from founders & GTM owners - ▪️ Which channels do you believe will grow next? ▪️ And how do you prefer being reached out today? Call, Email, Whatsapp, content, community, events, referrals… or Something NEW?

Hiring is one of the most cruical parts of being a founder, especially when it comes to finding good engineering talent. India has some of the best engineers but inbound is often noisy because of the sheer volume of applicants. Over time, we realized that curated outbound and reaching out to the right people is the most effective way to find top talent. One approach that worked really well for us was partnering with Weekday (YC W21). They have built one of the largest databases of talent I have seen in India and helped us run targeted outbound campaigns that connected us with good quality engineers we wouldn’t have reached otherwise. We recently hired an engineer through them who matched our hiring bar and we’re continuing to work with them to expand our team. If you’re an early-stage founder hiring in India, I would recommend talking to Weekday. Reach out to me if you need an intro. Amit Singh Sanjay S.

  • As hiring evolves, one truth stays constant—companies are built by people, not processes. The best ones still choose intent over resumes! This episode of The Weekday (YC W21) Show is a reminder that hiring isn’t just about skills, it’s about intent, ownership, and care.
