Chi Chan reposted thisChi Chan reposted thisA starship-sized shoutout to Studio Konkret who worked on the announce trailer for Star Trek: Outposts Unknown. 🖖🏗️ (they put together a little behind the scenes on the CGI attached below!) Linus Rosenqvist and Mikael Hall were incredible to work with. Not only did they produce exciting visuals authentic to our game, but also managed voice over talent (Thank you Michael Krass! I'd follow you to adventure any day), worked closely with Alex Doty on the soundtrack (can't wait to share the music he's been working on for this game), and Stephanie Marti on the gameplay and final edit (thank you for being attacked by roots in an aesthetically pleasing way). Our partners at Paramount (John Doherty, Jahnero Davis, Nathan Whitman) provided us the resources to make sure we nailed the Star Trek details, and the entire Magic Fuel Games Inc. team worked tirelessly on getting the build to the quality it needed to be. There's an exciting future ahead for Star Trek: Outposts Unknown, and I can't wait to share more soon : ) 🤘

Chi Chan liked thisChi Chan liked thisCongrats to all the Jammers of RMIT Game Jam 2026. This was my first time as a juror, but definitely not my last. With the current chaos in the industry, it’s refreshing to see that no AI was allowed. Whether or not they will use it as a tool in their career is not the point of a Game Jam. The younger generation of developers need to be allowed the room to plan, execute and sometimes fail without shortcuts.

Chi Chan liked thisChi Chan liked thisThe exhibition opens Today! 🏁 For 35 years, I have worked as a digital artist for games and feature films, specializing in environment and prop modelling. Throughout my career, I’ve continually adapted to an ever-evolving technical landscape to remain productive and versatile in the studio. However, my core strength has always been rooted in the artistic side of the craft. In an era increasingly dominated by generated artwork, I believe those foundational fine art skills are my true unique selling point. To me, the rules of light, form, and reflection don't change whether you are manipulating pixels or physical oil paint. Today marks my 9th year exhibiting at the prestigious Art of Motoring exhibition in London. It runs from Wednesday 28th October until Saturday 31st October at the Iconic Images Gallery (16 Waterloo Place). The exhibition is completely free to enter and forms part of London Motor Week, hosted by the Royal Automobile Club to coincide with the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. I am incredibly proud to share the venue with 31 of the UK's top automotive artists and sculptors. This year, I am showing two massive new 4ft x 3ft oil on canvas pieces that represent a century of automotive contrast: 🏎️ A vibrant 1970 Datsun 240z—celebrating the lines of 70s sports and supercars. 👑 A historic 1905 Rolls-Royce 20HP—a car that once beautifully graced the famous RAC Rotunda itself, painted to echo the heritage of the Veteran Car Run. (If you happen to be a member of the RAC, I also have 4 previous works additionally on display at the Pall Mall clubhouse!) If you are in London this week, please do stop by the gallery to see the collection in person. I am currently open to new creative connections, collaborations, and discussions. 🖼️ I have added a link to my official event showcase in the comments below, featuring all 6 paintings on display this year! #ArtOfMotoring #IconicImagesGallery #LondonMotorWeek #FineArt #EnvironmentArt #HardSurface #ClassicCars #OilPainting

This was such a fun project, collaborating with our friends at Forsman & Bodenfors, who brought this one to the afterlife. Special mentions to our fearless director, Torbjörn Martin and the crew at B-REEL FILMS and to the spooktacular creativity of Karl Risenfors, Julia Holtback Yeter, and Chanelle K. This Halloween, we teamed up with Yvette Fielding, renowned paranormal investigator and host of TV series Most Haunted, to visit Cogges Manor Farm, considered one of the most haunted places in the UK. Why? To invite a real ghost to play Hay Day through a séance, and introduce it as a new character in the game. Easily one of the weirdest, spookiest, and most fun projects we've worked on in a long time. The launch of Star Trek: Outpost Unknown feels particularly special, as it’s been developed by Playstack’s very own team of veteran developers, mainly based in the U.S. Even if at a distance, we’ve followed every step of the journey a little closer than usual — and some of us even lent their voices and faces to the characters, can you spot them from the below photos? Naturally, we celebrated in the office with a fancier-than-usual cake, featuring a bespoke design by our brilliant artists, who always find time for our office-related creative ideas, no matter how busy they are. ❤️ It’s moments like these that remind us how important it is to pause, come together and celebrate our achievements as a team. Beyond the milestones and launches, these shared moments help us build connections, appreciate one another’s contributions and create memories that make being part of a team even more meaningful. A huge well done to everyone who brought another masterpiece out in the world. So proud to be part of the journey! 🖖 Photo Credits: Nathali Herrera #Playstack #TeamCelebration #CompanyCulture #GamingIndustry #TeamAppreciation #StudioLife

Now I'm walking out with a head full of ideas and a long list of people to thank. To the talented artists, designers, engineers, researchers and producers who generously shared their knowledge and expertise: thank you. It’s been a wild and eye-opening ride! Now I'm looking for new and exciting problems to solve in the space where the physical and digital worlds meet. Interactive experiences, physical AI, mixed reality, synthetic data, novel scene representations - plus the human-directed/AI-amplified processes that make it all possible. Small teams chasing something nobody has quite figured out yet are my kind of people. If thats you, or you just want to bounce ideas around over coffee, my inbox is open.

One structural difference I’ve noticed between East Asian and Western indie scenes: In places like China, Japan, and Korea, there are often clearer public organizers and institutional hubs that help hold parts of the network together. Strong examples include CiGA China Independent Game Alliance 中国独立游戏联盟, JIGA (Founded BitSummit), and GAME AiCON Seoul. In much of the Western indie world (especially North America), it tends to run more on fragmented personal networks. Extremely valuable if you’re already inside them, but harder to navigate if you’re not. Neither model is inherently better. They just operate differently. For anyone trying to work across both, understanding that difference matters more than most people admit. #ChinaJoy #GameDev #IndieGame #EastWest

AI could fundamentally change the economics of AAA game development. Jon Wakelin explains how AI is reducing development costs by automating areas such as asset creation, storyline development, and level design. As production budgets potentially decline from roughly $300M to closer to $50–100M, AI may reshape everything from game pricing to competitive dynamics across the industry. In the video below, Jon explores: • How AI is transforming AAA game production • Which development processes are being automated • What lower development costs could mean for publishers and players Watch the full video here: https://altsl.co/43F1lmb #Gaming #ArtificialIntelligence #GameDevelopment #AAA #GamingIndustry #Technology #Media #Innovation #AltmanSolon
