Lee Sullivan shared thisIt's great to be sharing so often, and even better when every campaign is so uniquely different. This was such a fun project, collaborating with our friends at Forsman & Bodenfors, who brought this one to the afterlife. Special mentions to our fearless director, Torbjörn Martin and the crew at B-REEL FILMS and to the spooktacular creativity of Karl Risenfors, Julia Holtback Yeter, and Chanelle K. Plus everyone else who worked so hard on this one. Plenty more fun to come!Lee Sullivan shared thisNew spooky work with Hay Day: inviting real ghosts to play the game! This Halloween, we teamed up with Yvette Fielding, renowned paranormal investigator and host of TV series Most Haunted, to visit Cogges Manor Farm, considered one of the most haunted places in the UK. Why? To invite a real ghost to play Hay Day through a séance, and introduce it as a new character in the game. Easily one of the weirdest, spookiest, and most fun projects we've worked on in a long time. Lee Sullivan shared thisGreat marketing campaigns are like buses. You wait for a while, then three come along at once. How fortunate to be able to work on three so distinctly different projects with three such amazing groups of people. Special thanks to the amazing Veli Studio, Veera Almila and Juho Vesanen. The team at CFX and most notably Dermot Gallagher The creative minds at Bou specifically Emma Tuomi, Emmi Ylitalo, Jesse Pyy, Laura Laurinus & Sumi Moon And our brilliant director Juho Konstig This was so much fun to work on and we are so proud of the final result. Hope you enjoy it. The Time is Ripe!Lee Sullivan shared thisThe time was ripe for another collaboration with our friends at Hay Day and Veli Studio. We brought the harvest out of the game and into the real world in a series of films, reminding lapsed players what was waiting for them back on their farms.

Lee Sullivan shared thisThey say it takes a village to build a brand. For the past two years on Hay Day, that’s exactly what we’ve been doing. Across almost every touchpoint, we’ve explored our positioning, pillars and personality. We’ve debated characters, typography, colours and countless other details. We knew that to bring the universe of Hay Day to life, we needed a cinematic world where we could tell stories, delight our players and take them on adventures for the next 14 years and beyond. The fishing video we’ve lovingly created is a first(ish) glimpse of that world. We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it. Just wait until you see what’s coming next! Oh, and did I mention? We finally gave Greg a voice. A special thank-you to everyone in the village who made this possible: our good friends at Milford; Demian Zarins, Oskar Wahlberg, Elias Widerdal and John Roxenhed. The artistic genius of Fireball Studio, Alex Accorsi and Florian Coudray. Our amazing director, Kim Hagen Jensen, who helped us find the magic in this story; the lovely folks Brilliant Casting; Michelle Jones and Joe Marshall who found Greg's voice. And finally, the whole Hay Day team, but especially Sari Latvala, Carolina Barthalot, Leigh Alexander, Martyn Driscoll and Andy Grier you smashed it, as you always do! https://lnkd.in/eJwwYUDw

Lee Sullivan shared thisThe new Boat Destination feature is the biggest expansion to the world of Hay Day since launch, so we wanted to announce it in a way that felt just as big. It was a fantastic collaboration with my friends at Blue Zoo Animation Studio, delivering something we’re all really proud of for our players. Huge thanks to Joe Kinch for his direction, Grant Berry for his beautiful art direction, Damian Hook, Lizzie Hicks, and Chantal Baldwin for being brilliant production partners, and to Ben McAvoy who helped make it sound as good as it looks. One last special mention to the Hay Day team: Sam Miller, the creative genius and originator of the visual styling, and Carolina Barthalot, without whom none of this would be possible. This one’s a cracker, and I’m incredibly proud to have been part of it.

Lee Sullivan shared thisI couldn’t have possibly said it better than the lovely folks at Milford. So proud to see this come together after so many months of hard work. Super excited to show people what else we have been working on over the last year. As the song goes: B-b-b-baby, you just ain't seen n-n-n-nothing yet.Lee Sullivan shared thisWow, opportunities like this are exactly why we fell in love with animation! 💖 Being part of Supercell’s journey to reimagine their very first game, Hay Day, through a new cinematic interpretation is a truly special experience for Milford. Hay Day is more than just an iconic game; it’s a world filled with warmth, personality, humor, and nostalgia that players have connected with for over a decade. Exploring that universe creatively while honoring the spirit that makes it so beloved comes with both huge excitement and a genuine sense of responsibility. This trailer marks the beginning of a new cinematic journey in the Hay Day universe, starting with the introduction of the game’s first new production animal in more than ten years: The Lamb. We’re incredibly proud of the passion, craftsmanship, and love the team poured into every frame of this trailer, and deeply grateful to have contributed to such an iconic part of gaming culture. And thank you, Lee Sullivan and Sari Latvala at Supercell, for your trust and the experience of being part of the Hay Day universe 🥂 👉 https://lnkd.in/edCHqUgT #Milford #Supercell #HayDay #Animation #GameDev

Lee Sullivan reacted on thisLee Sullivan reacted on thisIn a few weeks, I'll hit 8 years at Supercell. And I'm happier in my work than I've ever been. I started on Boom Beach, worked on games that didn't make it (hello, Hay Day Pop, Rush Wars), and got to be the face of Clash Royale. Along the way, I got restless. I wanted to build something that could benefit Supercell as a whole, so I went all in and started working on the Creator Program full time. 4 years later, we have over 250,000 creators in the program. We've built so many pieces of tech for creators that have never been seen before, and we're not stopping any time soon. This is the best role I've ever had, and the work I'm proudest of. The wild part? I truly believe my best work is still ahead of me. Thank you to Supercell for trusting me with this, to my team, and to every creator who makes our games come alive. Let's go.

How do studios “keep up with the Joneses” on salaries without breaking themselves? It has been a while since I have been vocal on here. I am times feel it has lost its strengths to lots of samey same content written and shared in the same ways. One thing that I have been thinking about a lot lately is salary differences across the games industry. It has always existed, but in recent years the gaps have become enormous in some cases. The same development role can carry a salary difference of £20k, £30k or often more depending on the company. Not because the work is necessarily more complex or the person significantly more experienced but because one studio simply has deeper pockets, needs to grow quickly or is prepared to pay whatever it takes. So, who is to blame? The large corporations pushing salaries up? Studios following the crowd because they are scared of losing people? Projects Suffering! Recruitment leaders who encourage businesses to “match the market”? Or candidates who understandably accept the best offer available? Perhaps nobody is entirely to blame. Equally, perhaps we all play a part. Higher salaries can attract great talent, solve an immediate hiring problem and help a studio scale quickly. They can also improve someone’s life and we should never make people feel greedy for wanting to earn what a company is willing to pay them. But what happens when those salaries are built for rapid growth rather than long-term sustainability? We have seen the consequences: restructures, redundancies, cancelled projects and talented people suddenly entering the market with salary expectations that smaller or more cautious studios simply cannot meet. Then come the golden handcuffs. People stay in roles they no longer enjoy because moving would mean taking a significant pay cut. Others spend months searching because their previous salary has become the benchmark, even when it was well above the wider market. Of course, studios need to remain competitive. But competitive doesn’t always have to mean “pay more than everyone else.” Career development, strong leadership, interesting work, flexibility, stability, benefits and genuinely good culture all have value. The problem is that companies cannot underpay people and expect those things to magically make up the difference either. There has to be a sensible middle ground. Is paying £20k above the market a smart investment or are we creating a problem that will eventually correct itself, painfully? And who carries the biggest responsibility for keeping salaries fair, competitive and sustainable? Interested to hear perspectives from developers, studio leaders and recruitment teams. I suspect the answers will be very different depending on which side of the table you sit.
