Staffing Industry Analysts just released their 2026 forecast. US staffing grows 2% to $183.3 billion. That's not a typo. Two percent. After years of swing-for-the-fences growth targets, 2026 brings the efficiency reset. Operational overhead now determines who survives. The math changed. Healthcare staffing projected 5.74% growth through 2034.  Professional services holding steady. But generalist temp staffing is plateauing hard. Agencies built for boom cycles are bleeding cash in Q1 already. Fixed overhead designed for 10% annual growth doesn't survive when actual growth lands at 2%. We're watching firms lay off recruiters they hired 8 months ago during the Q2 lateral surge. The severance costs alone are wiping out Q4 profits. The shift we're seeing - clients want specialists who understand Legal, Defense, VC Tech workflows. They're paying premium rates for depth, not breadth. Volume plays are dead. Efficiency plays win. Are you structured for 2% growth, or still hoping last year's numbers come back?

The US BLS Payrolls Employment Data was just released for July 2025. US Nonfarm Payrolls only increased by 73k new hires vs. 110k expected. Previous Nonfarm Payrolls for May were revised down by 125k new hires leaving a net gain of only 19k new hires. Previous Nonfarm Payrolls for June were revised down by 133k new hires leaving a net gain of only 14k new hires. That means there were 258k less hires in May & June vs. what was originally reported. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the July numbers get revised based on what happened with May & June numbers. The slowdown in new hires seems to continue as companies cautiously look at headcount changes due to the current environment.
