Server Permit
The City of Gainesville issues server permits from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Wednesdays only at the Gainesville Police Department (GPD). For groups of five (5) or more employees with the same organization, please call ahead for an appointment.
The cost to acquire a server permit is $20 and a valid ID must be presented at the time of the request.
The server permit, if issued*:
- Is valid only within Gainesville city limits
- Can be used in restaurants within Gainesville
- Shall be valid for up to three (3) years from the date of issue
- May be suspended or revoked if you are convicted of a felony or alcohol-related offense
- Must be accessible while you're working. Failure to have your server permit on the premises will result in penalties for you and your employer
To acquire a server permit, the applicant will be required to fill out the following forms:
- Name-based criminal history record information consent/inquiry form
- Affidavit verifying status for city public benefit application
- GPD work permit
*No person shall be granted a server permit who has been convicted, pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any crime involving the sale or possession of alcoholic beverages or any felony within three (3) years of the date of application.
