SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program

The SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program exists to ensure that no veteran slips through the cracks — especially during moments of crisis.

The Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP) provides critical funding to trusted community organizations that deliver suicide prevention and intervention services to veterans and their families. This program is a cornerstone of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ community-based approach to reducing veteran suicide and expanding access to timely, compassionate care.

  1. About the Grant

Grant Purpose: To connect eligible veterans and active-duty service members to mental health care and suicide prevention services through the VA.

If VA services are declined or not immediately accessible, Clear Path for Veterans ensures no individual is left without support by offering alternative pathways to care, including:

     • Community-based mental health services
     • Peer support and mentorship
     • Wellness and stabilization services
     • Temporary financial assistance and other essential resources

Our goal is simple: meet veterans where they are and help them access care that feels safe, timely, and appropriate.

  2. Eligibility

Eligibility for the SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program is determined through the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) screening.

    Screening Details:
Any individual who screens positively for suicidality is eligible for support — regardless of whether they are assessed as low, moderate, or high risk. Each risk level follows a tailored care protocol designed to ensure appropriate, responsive support.

    After Screening:
Once eligibility is confirmed, a dedicated Navigation Coordinator conducts five baseline mental health assessments to help guide care planning and connect the individual with appropriate services prior to program enrollment.
