Khaled Naim shared thisAmazing opportunity to work with some brilliant product minds and leaders at Onfleet. The team is building the future of logistics and powers millions of deliveries every week for thousands of business around the world, so you’ll have global impact from day one. DM me if you’re interested or know someone who might be a fit.Khaled Naim shared this𝐖𝐞'𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐕𝐏 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐎𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐭. I'm not the hiring manager, but as CTO I'll work closely with this person, so I have opinions. I want someone who picks a few things, says no to the rest, and works out scope with engineering before we commit. Someone who ships small and often and stays close to the details. The role reports to our CEO, sits on our leadership team, and leads Product Management, Design and User Research. Remote in the US or Canada. Job description and pay range: https://lnkd.in/gX7aWw4m Applying? I shared some opinionated application advice earlier. Link in the comments. Curious about the role, or know someone who'd be a good fit? 𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐦𝐞.

Khaled Naim shared this🚨 Some big news to share! 🚨 After more than 10 incredible years and hundreds of millions of deliveries powered, as of this morning I am transitioning from CEO to Executive Chairman of Onfleet. I am thrilled to announce that Andrew Travis, my longtime partner in crime and our current COO, will be taking over as CEO. They say a founder’s job is to fire themselves from every role until there’s nothing left to do. Well, the hardest part isn't doing the work. It’s knowing exactly when to pass the torch to someone who can run the next leg of the race faster than you can. Why now? Simply put: The business is flying. We’re shipping product faster than ever, hitting new delivery volume highs, and growing faster than we have in years. The company is ready for a leader who lives and breathes operational scale. That leader is Andrew. Andrew knows the Onfleet DNA better than anyone. He’s been in the trenches with me since we were just a few guys in a room with an idea (and cardboard boxes and a ping pong table). As our second employee, Andrew’s been there steadfast, by my side, through pretty much all the ups and downs, the twists and the turns, building the business into what it is today. I’m leaving the execution in the most capable hands I know. As for me? I’m not going far. As Executive Chairman, I’ll be focused on big-picture strategy and trading my daily stand-ups for board meetings. On a personal note, leading this team has been the privilege of my lifetime. Onfleet has always been more than just a company to me; it has been my second home. But the thing that got me out of bed every single morning wasn’t the ARR or the product releases. It was the human impact of what we do. It was working alongside our incredibly talented team to enable our customers and their drivers to do their best work. Just the other day, I saw an app store review come in from a driver titled “My favorite app.” It read: “This is where I make money to take care of my family, so it is my favorite.” It stopped me in my tracks. It is easy to get lost in the software, the tickets, and the KPIs. But that review was a reminder that behind every task we power, there is a fellow human being trying to make a living, and a business owner trying to thrive. Because of the Onfleet team’s hard work, thousands of businesses are growing and tens of thousands of drivers are providing for their families with less stress, greater efficiency, and more delight. To the team, our customers, and our drivers: Thank you. 🙏 Onwards! 🚀

Khaled Naim posted this🚚 Speed + Precision = Growth 📈 In an era where consumers expect their orders not just “soon” but "now", two retailers are showing how a sharper last-mile experience pays off: 🔹 Home Depot reports that investing in faster fulfillment (using both stores and DCs), plus better in-stock visibility, is delivering improved customer satisfaction and driving engagement and sales: https://lnkd.in/dpuY6VnK 🔹 Walmart’s e-commerce business surged 26% in Q3 as more shoppers opt for same-day or sub-hour delivery, showing that when you deliver fast and reliably, shoppers respond: https://lnkd.in/dBWp8ZJZ Here’s the takeaway for retailers: 👉 Faster delivery with accurate ETAs isn’t just a value add. It’s a competitive lever. When you reduce friction, make timing reliable, and optimize supply-chain + in-store fulfillment as one ecosystem, you boost customer trust and frequency, which in turn fuels sales and loyalty. The winners aren’t just the ones who offer fast delivery. They’re the ones who make it consistently predictable and delightful. And Onfleet helps thousands of retailers do both of those things. #Retail #Ecommerce #SupplyChain #LastMile #CustomerExperience #Fulfilment

Khaled Naim shared thisJust wrapped our Onfleet exec team offsite and I’m feeling incredibly grateful. 😊 I get to work with a team of brilliant, driven leaders who also know how to not take themselves too seriously. One minute we’re in heated debate about product strategy, the next minute we’re elbow-deep in ramen noodles (which we made ourselves!). And then going full Squid Game on each other at Sandbox VR. 🦑 ☠️ As our CTO, Kjell H., said yesterday: “Onfleet has a truly special culture where you can argue to the brink of tears in the boardroom and then be actually crying of laughter five minutes later.” 🤣 We’re building some amazing new products to power the future of last mile delivery and having a great time doing it. Can’t wait to share what we've been cooking (other than ramen) 🚀 P.S. We're hiring! Check out our open positions here: https://lnkd.in/g7hC_uS

Khaled Naim reposted thisKhaled Naim reposted this🚀 We’re hiring a Senior Engineering Manager @ Onfleet We’re growing, and we’re looking for a strong, grounded Engineering Manager to lead one of our cross-functional teams. At Onfleet, leadership isn’t about hovering, but it’s not about detaching either. You create the conditions for smart execution: pushing clarity, enabling ownership, and stepping in hard when you have to. You don’t confuse autonomy with drift. When things are working, you support and amplify. When they’re not, you intervene early, directly, and with context. You have a sharp eye for inefficiency and a lean mindset. You spot waste in tools, process, team dynamics, and delivery flow, and you work methodically to remove friction, so the team moves faster, with more purpose, and less noise. You make the environment better, not just the output. This role is about: ✨ Building a high-performing, psychologically safe team that delivers ✨ Delegating to empower, and pairing it with transparency and follow-through ✨ Coaching with honesty, acting with clarity, and owning outcomes ✨ Partnering tightly with design and product to drive sharp execution ✨ Keeping the mission visible and the team aligned to it We operate remotely across the US, Canada, and Latin America. We’re asynchronous by default, focused, and outcome-driven. If you’ve built teams that ship and grow through calm and crisis, we want to hear from you.

Khaled Naim shared this🚛 Big news at Onfleet! We’ve just turbocharged our board with the addition of Rob Howard as our newest independent director! Rob is the real deal — founder of two successful logistics startups: Ensenda (acq. by Transforce) and Grand Junction (acq. by Target), ex-VP of Technology at Target, and now CEO of Kindred Motorworks where vintage cars meet cutting-edge tech. 🚗⚡ He’s scaled companies, raised over $100M, and currently sits on the board of Shipt. Basically, if it moves from A to B, Rob’s probably figured out how to optimize, scale, and deliver it. 📦📈 We’re thrilled to welcome Rob to the Onfleet crew as we keep truckin' on our mission to build the future of last-mile delivery — smarter, faster, and of course, more delightful. 🏁 ⭐ Welcome aboard, Rob — onwards! 🛻💨

Khaled Naim shared thisWe just wrapped up an incredible Onfleet Customer Advisory Board event in San Francisco with a powerhouse group of half a dozen of our amazing customers: Total Wine & More, Capsule, Sway, Eaze, The Rounds, and Fair Ortho Logistics, LLC. It was an energizing 24 hours of collaborative brainstorming, deep product insights, and a memorable evening at the Giants stadium! ⚾ The conversations were rich, honest, and deeply motivating. It’s moments like these that remind us how lucky we are to build Onfleet with our customers, not just for them. 🙏 Huge thanks to everyone who joined us—your ideas, feedback, and passion are already shaping what’s next at Onfleet. 💡

Khaled Naim liked thisKhaled Naim liked thisHere’s a 2019 photo of Tony Xu Apoorva Mehta and me. That was the year DoorDash bought Caviar (which I was running). Apoorva was running Instacart . Tony was 6 years into running DoorDash. 7 years later, DoorDash announced that it has agreed to buy Instacart, and Tony is still at it. He’s the last founder-CEO from that generation of local commerce players. You learn a lot from selling to someone and then working for them. I got to see how Tony leads, problem solves, and and never lets up. He goes deeper into the details than anyone I’ve worked with. The bar he sets for himself is the bar the whole company rises to. He's still doing it 13 years in. Apoorva is cut from the same cloth, with the same founder intensity. He saw the future of grocery before almost anyone else and built Instacart into the defining company in the category. As he put it, “I’m excited for Instacart to be part of a founder-led company again.” Proud of both of them, and congrats to both teams.

Khaled Naim reacted on thisKhaled Naim reacted on thisMy job as a VC is to learn something new every day. I love that! I moved here from Italy, solo, at 16, and I spent years trying to crack every piece of America's invisible code (more on cracking the code in the essay in the comments). BUT there are also a few pieces I've chosen to never learn. Not knowing them used to make me feel insecure. Now I'm just embracing the ignorance 🤷♀️ 1) Fahrenheit to Celsius conversion 2) Miles, feet, inches, ounces, and all that imperial system nonsense 3) Anything about American sports. Teams, players, positions. Nothing. So even after 20 years in the country, when someone makes a sports analogy in a work meeting, I stop them and ask for a redo. 4) How to get rid of my Italian accent

Khaled Naim liked thisKhaled Naim liked thisBig personal news: I have decided to leave Andreessen Horowitz, move to SF, and start a company. It's time to build :) It has been almost 10 years since I joined the firm. I met Chris, Ben, and Marc in 2017. At the time, I was an engineer at Google Brain working on robotics. I had a deep interest in open source. And I knew nothing about investing. Chris meanwhile had already planted the a16z flag at the frontier that was early crypto with investments in companies like Coinbase. But the crypto team at the firm consisted of only him, and he had the ambition to expand. His pitch to me was simple: "You should leave Google and come help me build the crypto vertical at the firm." The work we've done together since then to build out our team and support our founders has been the most meaningful work of my life. I am grateful to have spent a decade working with everyone here, supporting our founders, learning from Chris, Ben, and Marc, and living the firm's culture. It is a culture that values integrity, life-long working relationships, and the belief that we humans have the power to build our own future. Marc and Ben have built a16z into an incredible force for good in the world. Before I joined the firm, I always thought that my inevitable path was to become a founder. The truth is that I wasn't ready for it then. Somehow, this year I've gotten the overwhelming feeling that this has changed. As for what I want to build: It is early, but I care most about building infrastructure that enables open software ecosystems. I am starting with two core observations: 1. AI today is largely a single-player technology. Most uses involve one human talking with one agent in isolation from the rest of the world. That will soon change. Most uses of AI will soon be many-to-many: many humans and many agents working together. There will be at least one massive open network on top of which those uses will be built. 2. Software is now free. It can now be written just-in-time, on the spot for a single individual's hyper-targeted use case, and it can even be thrown out after a single use. This means that our entire software stack will have to change. In the limit, it will lead to a whole new kind of AI-mediated operating systems, which in turn will create an ecosystem of AI-native developers who build applications that actively rebuild themselves on the fly. If you are working on related ideas, and especially if you are in the Bay Area, hit me up. Let's chat! Ben, Marc, Chris, Eddy Jason, and our whole team — I want to thank you. Working with you has been the time of a lifetime. I am forever an a16z superfan and your ally. Onward 🫡

Most founders think the E-2 visa ("Treaty Investor" Visa) is only for people investing tens of millions in capital into the US. It's not. ..and Sam Blackbourn is proof. Sam's an Engineer & Director at CIVIX. He's also Co-Founder of Allsite.ai, which builds infra for water-sensitive urban design. They're responsible for helping cities adapt to climate stress, flooding, and sustainable development, and saved developer $2.5m on a large greenfield land development. Sam's been building this from outside the US. But to scale Allsite.ai and bring CIVIX's work to American markets, he needed to be in the States. And he's smashing it. The E-2 visa (the "treaty investor" pathway) was his answer. This visa is for operators building real businesses with real investment, even at early stages. Someone who’s a fit for E-2: - Does not need: need tens of millions in the bank - Does need: a real business plan, real commitment, and real intent to operate The lowest investment I've seen approved was $65,000. Sam's E-2 approval in October meant he could operate Allsite.ai from the US, CIVIX could expand into American infrastructure projects, and it also allowed his family to come together and immediately allow his partner to work. Now, Sam's right where he needs to be: in the US, building and growing!

𝗗𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 - 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝘅 This is the concluding post of my journey of discovery into payment chains. 1. The Starting Point: We explored why this is their AWS moment, understanding the real TAM and how payment chains redistribute value. 2. Back to Basics: We looked at the emerging multi rail future of money, how blockchains are ledgers of liability & why payment chains are the emerging middle rail. 3. Deep Dives: We looked at how blockchains work & the current state of governance, identity, privacy and finality. This in turn helped identify the gaps that payment chains would have to solve for, if they are to disrupt the existing status quo. And now, The Framework: To make sense of this landscape, I developed a structured Evaluation Framework applied across a mix of TradFi, Corporate and Web3 contenders. Each was assessed against 10 Core Criteria, including Finality Semantics, KYC/AML Enforceability, MEV Integrity & Institutional Operability. We then scored each contender across the core criteria using a 1–4 Scoring Rubric (where 4 represents structural embedding in production or regulatory documentation), moving away from "crypto-native" metrics toward institutional-grade benchmarks. Realization: Architecture Must Match Persona Based on our consolidated matrix, here is how the landscape currently maps to dominant use cases: Institutional Settlement 🏦 : Canton Network & Fnality lead. Canton’s $350B+ daily production volume & sub-transaction privacy make it the reference architecture for wholesale capital markets. Merchant / SMB Payments 🏪: Tempo & Arc dominate. They prioritize stablecoin-native gas models, predictable fees, & embedded reconciliation primitives. Retail Savings & Payments 💳: Solana & Base remain the liquidity hubs. For the "Saver" persona, asset credibility & exit liquidity matter more than protocol-level compliance hooks. The Frontier 🤖 : Agentic Commerce The next structural shift won't be driven by humans, but by AI Agents. Autonomous agents require deterministic finality & machine-readable compliance to execute transactions without human intervention. Networks like Canton & Fnality are already optimizing for this "Agentic" future by providing the ordering integrity & programmable atomicity that AI requires to operate safely in financial markets. At the other end of the spectrum, Base is shipping payments (x402) & related primitives to allow Agentic commerce to flourish. Concluding Thoughts: Alignment is Alpha The future of payment chains will not be defined by a single winner. It will be defined by the alignment between architecture & economic domain. Whether you are a treasurer optimizing capital, a merchant reducing FX friction, or a developer building an AI agent, the key is finding the chain whose structural trade-offs align with your regulatory and economic reality. To review my Framework and chain level scoring, please read the attached whitepaper.

A great result for Callosum and yet another strong signal from UK deep tech. Congratulations to Danyal Akarca, Jascha Achterberg and the entire team, and especially Jason Pontin Matt Ocko James Hardiman Stephen Rodriguez and the DCVC team for seeing the opportunity and having conviction early in the thesis. For me the really interesting idea here is bigger than cheaper inference. As agentic AI drives an explosion in model calls, the strategic layer may shift from owning the “best” model or chip to deciding which combination of models and silicon should run each task. An independent orchestration layer could lower costs while creating more competition across the entire AI stack. That thesis is already translating into partnerships across the compute stack, including Cerebras, Intel, NVIDIA, d-Matrix Amazon Web Services (AWS) reinforcing the opportunity for an independent layer that can orchestrate across models, chips and infrastructure. There’s also a great UK story here too: University of Cambridge science, early Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA) and Sovereign AI Kanishka Narayan MP support and now major global capital and partnerships - a great example of UK science and public risk capital helping create companies that global capital and strategic partners increasingly want to scale. And Callosum isn’t an isolated example. There’s a growing pipeline of UK companies tackling similarly hard problems across AI, compute, defence and deep tech. Some worth watching will be at #SFTechWeek this October TECH WEEK by a16z Andreessen Horowitz which has become an exceptional meeting point for ambitious founders, ideas and capital.
