The Hermes is a medium freighter developed by Roberts Space Industries. With its substantial capacity, rapid speed, and remarkable endurance, the Hermes transforms Medium Freight for our ever-divided universe. Consistent with its reputation, RSI provides avenues for new ventures through this hauler designed for small crews yet offering significant returns. No matter the challenge or destination, the Hermes accomplishes the task.

The Hermes was specifically designed as a blockade runner «as it has a large cargo capacity, powerful main thrusters, and improved hull health and armor, making it ideal for safely transporting payloads to dangerous places.»[1].

Features

Cargo
Featuring an ample internal storage capacity of 288 SCU and a standalone operational configuration, the Hermes introduces a multitude of new possibilities to your launchpad.

Defences
Equipped with enhanced armor relative to the Apollo series and armed with four Size 4 guns and sixteen Size 2 missiles, the Hermes is capable of absorbing damage and retaliating when necessary.

Trivia

  • Within Greek mythology, Hermes was the Olympian god of herds and flocks, travellers and hospitality, roads and trade, thievery and cunning, heralds and diplomacy, language and writing, athletic contests and gymnasiums, astronomy and astrology. He was the herald and personal messenger of Zeus, King of the Gods, and also the guide of the dead who led souls down into the underworld.[3]
  • His Roman counterpart would be Mercury, god of boundaries, commerce, communication (including divination), eloquence, financial gain, languages, luck, thieves, travelers, and trickery; he is also the guide of souls to the underworld. It is also the name of a Crusader Industries blockade runner. Unlike the Mercury, the Hermes doesn't carry data, but can carry more than twice the cargo capacity than the Mercury.
