Contract

Contracts, also called missions by Star Citizen players, can be found on the Contract Manager app in the mobiGlas. Some contracts are procedurally generated from lists, while others are predefined. Most are free to accept, while a few have an up-front fee. Payouts come in the form of set UEC payments and determinant bonuses for fulfilling certain contracts criteria. Some but not all contracts are failed upon the player's death. Others have time limits.
The contracts that are available will vary based on your current Area of Operations, your CrimeStat rating, what other contracts you have completed and your standing with mission giver NPCs and the Bounty Hunters Guild. In the future, more faction relations will factor in.
With the Contract Manager, after carefully reading all the information, you can apply for and accept job offers directly from your mobiGlas. Once you have accepted a contract, from the Accepted tab you will be able to see a detailed list of objectives, and can also track and untrack contracts to have it sync with your Skyline map, as well as cancel contracts already in progress.
Contracts can be shared among party members by clicking on the "Share" button that appears on the contract details of the mobiGlas page. The rewards will be split evenly among all members, this includes any reputation gain.
The Contract Manager has three tabs:
- Offers
- Verified (default): This tab gathers and displays available local contracts which have been Business and Labor Administration (BLA) certified to meet UEE and local law requirements.
- Unverified (accessible over a switch): These are offers being sent to your account specifically. Users are encouraged to be cautious accepting unsolicited contracts from unknown sources as some of these may be illegal and can lead to arrest, imprisonment or even death. The same subcategories from Verified also apply to Unverified.
- Accepted: Once you accept an offer, the contract is moved to this tab so that you can quickly access important information relating to it.
- History: When a contract comes to end, either through successful completion or by other means, the record of it is kept here for reference.
Contract types
PVP
These contracts have you tracking down and killing a player with a CrimeStat. If you are located within the same system as said player, you will be given their position. This is not reserved to any CrimeStat level, and as such, may have players pay off their CrimeStat before you claim the bounty. These contracts cannot be shared, and the reward is only given to the player who got the kill.
Appointment
These are the invitations you receive from mission givers to first meet in person, opening up contract opportunities from them. These invitations are sent out when you have been completing regular contracts of a similar type to what the mission giver offers.
Contracts to pursue and track down specific, possibly dangerous individuals. As of Alpha 3.12.0, the Reputation System ties in to these contracts . You must have a certification from the Bounty Hunters Guild for these to be made available.
ECN
Contracts received through the Emergency Communication Network system. When a new ECN alert is broadcast, this is seen on the HUD. ECN Alerts are used by Dynamic events but show under the “Priority” category instead.
Delivery
Transport-related contracts to move cargo and goods between locations… but not always for legitimate reasons.
Search
The usage of this tab is unusual and appears somewhat interchangeable with Investigation.
Hauling
Hauling contracts send players to pick up and transport cargo using the freight elevators. The amount that is required to be hauled differs on the contract. There are three types of hauling contracts, Hauling - Small Grade, Hauling - Supply Grade and Hauling - Bulk Grade.
Requirements:
- Each contract will specify the minimum amount of storage size your ship should be able to handle, for example some might require a ship that can carry 1 SCU size containers while other can require you to be able to handle 4 SCU size containers.
- A low enough crime rating to enter the origin and destination stations
Investigation
Used by insurance companies and individuals to acquire information. Also utilizes a data submission tool to allow users to submit applicable information to the client from the Accepted tab. Users may choose to submit their data to the client at any point, whether the matter has been fully investigated or not. Any complications to arise from this are solely the responsibility of the user.
Service Beacon
Service Beacons can be activated by players or NPCs.
Service Beacon Types:
- Personal Transport (currently unavailable)
- Medical Assistance (Rescue Beacon)
- Combat Assistance (currently unavailable)
- Escort (currently unavailable)
See Service Beacon for more information.
Maintenance
Jobs that require manual labor and trade skills, such as repair work or hazardous material handling.
Mercenary
Offers in which the contractor is expected to have combat training, such as escort and security work. Also includes much in the way of unsavory violence.
Racing
While added in Alpha 3.18.0, defunct since Alpha 4.0, racing contracts have the player take their own ship to race tracks located on a number of planets around Stanton. See Racing for more information.
Salvage
Added in Alpha 3.19.0, salvage contracts have the player salvage resources from a wrecked ship hull using their own ship. See Salvage for more information.
Mining
With the removal of Recco Battaglia in Alpha 3.12.1 pending the Nyx system, this type of contract has been put on hiatus.
