Roulette inside bets: bet types, odds, payouts & strategies

Inside bets are differentiated by the count of numbers they involve. Inside bets are a part of every roulette game - be it American, European, or any other variant. The standard variants include these inside bets, starting from the riskiest one: straight bet (individual number bet), split bet, street (trio bet), corner, and six line bet. • Straight-Up Bet: To place a straight-up bet, you need to place a chip directly on a single number (eg. number 23). You only cover this number, so if the ball lands on any other number, you lose. The payout ratio is 35:1, which is the highest in standard roulette. The odds of winning one are low, with less than 3% for both European and American roulette. Due to the high payout ratio and low chances of winning, straight-up bets are the riskiest bets in roulette.
• Split Bet: A split in roulette covers two numbers. It’s placed on the line where two numbers intersect (eg. 15 and 17), and you only win if the ball lands on one of these two numbers. The payout is 17:1, and the odds are 5.40% for European and 5.26% for American roulette.
• Street (Trio) Bet: A Street, Trio and Triple bet covers 3 numbers that are located in the same row. This wager pays 11:1. The profitability of winning one in European roulette is 8.10% and 7.90% in American variants.
• Corner Bet: It’s placed on the intersection of four numbers on the table (eg. 26, 27, 29, 30) and it covers them all. With a payout ratio of 8 to 1, it’s a popular choice. In single-zero roulette variants the odds for corner bets are 10.50%, while in double-zero variants, the odds are 10.50%.
• Six-Line Bet: Six-line is the least volatile inside bet, covering 6 numbers on the table. It’s placed at the intersection of two rows, which is also known as a double-street bet. It pays out 5 to 1 and has a high odds of above 15% for both American and European roulette.
• Basket Bet: This bet is only available for American roulette, and it covers the 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3 pockets. It’s placed in the place where the two rows intersect, and has a payout of 6:1. The chances of hitting a Basket Bet are 13.20% in every turn.

9 Streets Roulette Betting Strategy

The 9 Street System is a recent strategy that involves placing multiple street bets - 10 to be exact. The idea is to start each round by placing 10 street bets, covering 27 out of the 37 numbers on the European roulette wheel. The wager size is 1 unit per place, so it required 10 units for the first spin. The chance of winning in the first round is 72.9%, and the idea is to increase the bankroll by 3 units if you win.

In the case of a win for the first bet, the following bet is same as the first one, In the case of a loss the first time, you need to repeat the same bet as the first round - but avoid the street where the ball landed the last time.

The 9 Street is only suitable in the short run, so you should stop it if you make some profit.

9 Split Roulette Betting Strategy

The 9 Split System is similar to the 9 Street System, but here, you start by placing 9 split bets with 1 unit each. The strategy suggests that you don’t mix red and black numbers. If you win, you do the same. But, if you lose, the strategy requires you to increase the bet size by 1 unit for each of the split bets.

The idea is to cover 18 pockets with each spin, or 48.60% of the European roulette wheel with 37 numbers in total. With a payout ratio of 17:1, the strategy is designed to make you a profit in the short term. It’s a medium to high volatility strategy, so it requires a sizable bankroll.

11 Number System

The 11 Number System is another inside bet strategy focusing on straight-up bets. The strategy is based on the hot and cold numbers theory, and you need to bet on the 11 hottest numbers at the moment.

Specifically, it’s based on betting on the hot number and the 10 adjacent numbers to that one. So, if the last spin landed on 21, you’ll need to place straight-up bets on the ten numbers that follow it, like 22, 23, etc.

You’ll cover 11 out of the 37 pockets on the table if you’re playing with a European roulette wheel, providing you with a winning chance of 28.72%. The payout ratio is 35:1, so if you win, you’ll cover the cost of your bet and come out with a profit of 24 units. Note that the 11 Number System is a very volatile strategy you have 71.28% chance of losing each spin.

Inside bets come with a higher level of risk compared to outside bets, often leading to noticeable swings in a player’s bankroll. With their lower chance of hitting a win, it's common to see sequences of losses that steadily erode funds; however, a single successful wager can cause a dramatic rebound in the total amount.
