Inside Bets

Roulette offers two main bet types, and inside bets are one of them. As the name shows, these bets are made within the numbered grid on the table. You can choose a single number, a point where two or four numbers meet, a row of three numbers, or a spot where two rows cross. In American roulette, there is also an option to bet on a spot where five numbers meet. Each bet has its own name, and this guide will explain them in more detail.

List of Roulette Inside Bets (All Variants)

As you can see in the table above, there are five different inside bets in roulette, and four of them are available in all variants. One of them (basket) is exclusive to American roulette.

  • Straight: This bet is placed on a specific single number. (Place your chips on the number of your choice.) It pays 1:35. Winning chance: 2.70% in the EU variant and 2.60% in the US variant.
  • Split: This bet is placed on two numbers. (Place your chips on the line between the numbers.) It pays 1:17. Winning chance: 5.40% in the EU variant and 5.30% in the US variant.
  • Street: This bet covers three numbers. (Place your chips on the edge of the row that contains these numbers.) It pays 1:11. Winning chance: 7.90% in the EU variant and 8.10% in the US variant.
  • Corner: This bet covers four numbers in a 2x2 square. (Place your chips in the middle of these numbers.) It pays 1:8. Winning chance: 10.80% in the EU variant and 10.50% in the US variant.
  • Basket: You can place this bet only in American roulette. It covers five numbers – 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3. (Place your chips on the line that separates 0 and 1.) It pays 1:6. Winning chance: 13.15%.
  • Six Line: A bet that covers all six numbers in two rows next to each other. (Place your chips on the intersection of these rows.) It pays 1:5. Winning chance: 16.20% in the EU version and 15.80% in the US version.

Inside Bets Strategies & Systems

In order to balance and spread the high risk & volatility of inside bets, we recommend using strategies developed for them. These strategies are based on specific types of inside bets but do not guarantee that you will win in any way. However, in the long run, they can help you get more of your invested money back and manage your bankroll properly. Below, we will list the most common types of inside betting strategies.

9 Street System

Here's how you can use this system based on street bets:

  • Place 9 street bets of your choice at random. Each of them should be worth 1 GBP.
  • If you win, place 8 street bets in the next round (the stake remains the same).
  • If you lose, continue with 9 street bets again and do not change the stake. This time, however, do not choose the street that won in the last round.
  • 9 Street System

This system will give you about 73% chance of winning every spin and every win will add 3 GBP to your bankroll. It is a system that can give you results in the short term, but it is not suitable for long game sessions. Once you make a profit, don't play anymore.

    9 Split System

Because of the name you might think it is similar to the system above, but this one works a bit differently:

    • Place 9 split bets, but this time don't choose them randomly. The numbers in each selection you make must be identical in color.
    • Each of the bets must be worth 1 GBP. If you lose, increase this amount by 1x (and keep doing so as long as you lose).
    • If you win, go back to the start and continue playing with 1 GBP once more.
    9 Split System

Using this system, you can get a 48% chance of winning on every spin and each win will add 9 GBP to your bankroll. However, keep in mind that this is a system with more volatile results. This means that it will take longer to recover from a loss streak, and it may not be suitable for small bankrolls.

    11 Number System

This is a system that simply asks you to place 11 independent straight bets. However, the numbers you choose must follow a specific pattern. Here is how you can choose the numbers:

    • Your first number should be the winning number from the previous round. For example, 15.
    • The others are the 10 numbers around it (in this example, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25).
    11 Number System

Let the value of each of your bets be 1 GBP. This means that you will invest 11 GBP each round and there is a chance that you will win a payout of 35 GBP. This system gives you a winning chance of about 29%. For the same reason, it is one of the most practical ways to offset the volatility/risk of straight bets.

Features

Inside bets are seen as riskier than outside bets. This means that when players use inside bets, their bankroll can fluctuate significantly. Because the chance to win is low, players might lose several times in a row, causing their money to drop. But if they win, the high rewards can make their money go up a lot. The graph below shows how players' money changed during a game session where four players, each using different bets, only placed split bets. In this graph, the horizontal line (X-axis) shows the number of rounds, and the vertical line (Y-axis) shows the amount of money.

Take Big Risks, Get Big Payouts

Inside bets are riskier and appeal to players who like this type of gameplay. If you have a limited bankroll, don't like aggressive gameplay and even money payouts are enough for you, it's better to opt for outside bets. However, we advise you not to forget that inside bets have the potential to pay out up to 35 times your stake. To offset their risk, using a combination of strategies and combination bets is the best thing you can do. In any case, do not rely only on your luck: always play with a certain goal in mind and use the best strategy that can guide you towards that goal.
