Claude Code, installed and set up in one click
The Foxwire AI desktop app installs Claude Code and connects it to your account in one click — real Claude, or cheaper DeepSeek / Kimi. Prefer the terminal? Three env vars, no code changes.
Three env vars point every request at Foxwire. Nothing else to touch.
Opus 4.8, Sonnet 4.6, Haiku 4.5 — the same models, lower price.
DeepSeek / Kimi cost a fraction and keep tool calls + thinking.
Programmatic access to the platform, one account, one balance.

How to install and set up Claude Code
Pick your OS, then how you want to set up: one click in the desktop app, or three commands in the terminal.
- 1
Download and install the Foxwire AI app
macOS 12+ on Apple Silicon. Open the .dmg and drag Foxwire AI to Applications.
The app is signed and notarized (Apple Developer ID / EV certificate). If your browser says the download is “unverified”, that is its reputation check for new software — choose “Keep”.
- 2
Click “Install Claude Code”
The app downloads and installs Claude Code itself — no Node.js, no terminal. Already installed? The app detects it and the button says “Connect account” instead.
- 3
Connect your account
Click “Connect account”: the browser opens to sign in to Foxwire. After you sign in, the app writes the configuration for you and shows “Connected”.
- 4
Open a terminal and type claude
“Open terminal” opens a terminal with everything set. To switch models, click the model badge on the row, tick the ones you want and pick a default — no config editing.
Start Claude Code and run /status — the API Base URL should point at Foxwire.
claude
/statusModel mapping
Claude Code has three model roles. Map each with these variables — required, or requests fail with model_not_found.
| Role | Environment variable | Real Claude | Budget swap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opus | ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_OPUS_MODEL | claude-opus-4-8 | deepseek-v4-pro |
| Sonnet | ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_SONNET_MODEL | claude-sonnet-4-6 | deepseek-v4-flash |
| Haiku | ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_HAIKU_MODEL | claude-haiku-4-5 | kimi-k2.6 |
export ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_OPUS_MODEL="deepseek-v4-pro"
export ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_SONNET_MODEL="deepseek-v4-flash"
export ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_HAIKU_MODEL="kimi-k2.6"Mix freely — keep Opus on real Claude, make Sonnet/Haiku cheaper, whatever fits. Compare prices on the Models page.

FAQ
Download the Foxwire app and click “Install Claude Code” on the Claude Code row: it downloads the official build, connects your account and writes the settings. No Node.js, no terminal. Prefer the terminal? One install command plus three variables — see the manual tab.
No. Both the app and our install script use the official native Claude Code build.
The app detects an existing install and only connects your account — nothing is reinstalled. You can also switch models from the app later. Prefer not to? Use the manual tab.
The desktop app is macOS / Windows for now. On Linux follow the manual tab — it is three env vars.
Click the model badge on the Claude Code row in the app, tick the models you want in /model and pick a default. Manual setup: change the ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_*_MODEL variables.
No. You only need a Foxwire account and an API key — requests are served by Foxwire and billed to your Foxwire balance.
Yes — top up your Foxwire balance and pay per token. No subscription, no per-vendor accounts.
No — three env vars point Claude Code at Foxwire. Your code and workflow stay the same.
A subscription is a fixed monthly fee with usage caps. Here you pay only for tokens you actually use — heavy weeks cost more, idle weeks cost nothing.
If it is set, Claude Code sends requests straight to Anthropic and ignores your base URL. Always set it to an empty string.
Yes — 26 models work on the Claude endpoint: DeepSeek, Kimi, Gemini, GPT, Grok, Qwen and GLM, with tool calls and thinking. Full list in the “All models” section above.
