Kalie Moore hat dies geteiltComms horror stories from the last month in honor of Halloween. There’s a lot, so buckle up. 🎃 👻 A client sends you a media list, and you realize ChatGPT made it. 👻 A client hands you a brief that was clearly written by AI, and you take it at face value because why wouldn’t anyone check it? You build an entire executive positioning plan around the spokesperson it named, and then find out they don’t actually want the SVP of sales speaking. 👻 The ghost story. A journalist says she’ll take the exclusive, and then you just don’t hear back from her. Again and again and again. (This one did work itself out, but it aged me) 👻 You land a tier one exclusive, and the client is disappointed because it was only one hit, even though we agreed on the exclusive route. 👻 You ask a client for their own thoughts in order to draft an op-ed, without AI, because that’s the requirement and you’ll be writing it with your own brain. They send you ChatGPT’s thoughts instead. 👻 You get accused of using AI on something you wrote yourself. 👻 And the one keeping me up at night: a journalist told me she now has an AI agent filtering her inbox. If she doesn’t already know you, your pitch might never reach her. Looking back at this list, most of these didn’t exist two years ago. In a lot of ways, AI has made this job harder, not easier. Happy Halloween from me and the ghost hotdogs I made for my daughter’s party in between calls today 👻🌭

Kalie Moore hat dies geteiltThe best conversations at tech conferences happen outside the four walls of the event. So for Web Summit, we're making space for a few of them. High Vibe PR and friends are hosting The Conversation, a curated dinner bringing together founders, investors, and people doing interesting things across AI, gaming, and frontier tech. And we're doing it at my favorite restaurant in Lisbon, a city that's become a second home to me. We're keeping the guest list small because I'd rather have a table full of great conversations than a room full of small talk. If you’re in Lisbon for Web Summit and want to pull up a chair, send me a DM.

Kalie Moore hat dies geteiltGardens Interactive raised more than $70M for a game that hasn’t launched yet. Their first pitch deck came together after a cold DM to an artist they admired. I sat down with Stephen Bell and 🔔Chris Bell🔔, two of the three co-founders of Gardens Interactive, whose credits include Journey, Sky and What Remains of Edith Finch, for the latest Naavik Gaming Podcast. Early on, Chris kept a folder of images that captured the feeling of adventure they wanted. One piece, by the illustrator Ma-ko, stood out. Chris wished they could find someone who drew like that. Their third co-founder, Lexie Dostal, had a simpler idea: why don’t we just ask him? So they slid into his DMs. Mako let them use his personal portfolio to build their seed deck, and they went from having no art at all to a deck full of his work. He’s been shaping the look of the game ever since. We also get into why Gardens isn’t friendslop, what took three years, why traditional VCs led the round, and why they brought in Valve’s Mike Ambinder to design monetization around one promise: Gardens will never be pay to win. Kalie Moore hat dies geteiltOkay, I've been sitting on this news and I can FINALLY share it: High Vibe PR is officially a 2026 Inc. Magazine #PowerPartner Award winner 🏆 What makes this one so special is the judging process. You can ask up to ten clients to provide feedback. So we reached out to 10 of ours, and every single one of them said yes, and some even sent us the screenshots before submitting. One called us their "right hand on PR," another said there's "no other PR partner like this," and one just straight up said we're the "best PR firm we've ever worked with!" Tiffany Kavuma even created a “feel good folder” for us to revisit on particularly tough days. High Vibe is my second agency, and when I started it six years ago I really only had one rule: work with kind people I believe in. Our clients don't only understand the value of PR, but they trust us to help shape how they communicate. Most have been with us for years through funding rounds, acquisitions, and new ventures. They're not just clients, they're partners, who see us as extensions of their teams. As a PR person it is hard to be on the other side of the table and put yourself out there, but this year we doubled down on doing our own PR and have taken home with PR Agency of the Year at the US Agency Awards, two Golds at the Bulldog PR Awards, a PR Net Next Gen honor, and now this one on top. To every client who vouched for us, and to the team who shows up for them every single day, thank you 🙏

Kalie Moore hat dies gepostetMore than 80% of the private capital that went into gaming last quarter went to AI and tools. Drake Star’s Global Gaming Report Q3 2026 just came out and these were my takeaways: ✨Less money, more deals. Private financing came in at $1.6B across 106 rounds, down from over $2.5B across 96 in Q2. ✨AI valuations keep climbing. General Intuition raised at $6.2B, nearly triple where it was a quarter ago, and Meshy closed a ~$400M Series B. ✨Public markets are back. The Drake Star Gaming Index rose about 15% in the quarter, led by PC and console. Mobile is down 12% since the start of 2025. ✨M&A moved east. Asia led deal count, driven largely by big companies selling off non-core studios. When I sat down with Michael Metzger at Gamescom, I asked him if we’re in an AI bubble. His answer was that the money reflects a real opportunity, and some of these companies will become enormous, but plenty of the ones raising big rounds today won’t make it. Q3 reads like that bet getting bigger. He also told me the category he thinks is most undervalued right now is AA studios. With less than 20% of capital going anywhere other than AI and tools, that call looks even more contrarian this quarter. Separately, I’d love to have the Meshy team on the Naavik podcast! Any intros are appreciated. Link to the full report in the comments👇🏻

Kalie Moore hat dies geteiltHow does a solo developer make seven figures from browser games that are completely free to play? I sat down with Abe Train, CEO & founder of Trainwreck Labs, for the latest Naavik Gaming Podcast to find out. He’d worked his way up from meat buyer to head of business intelligence at HelloFresh, had never built a game, and quit on New Year’s Eve 2021 with about six months of runway. A month later Wordle took over the internet, so he made Globle, a daily geography guessing game, and posted it to Reddit. He put the exact same post in two subreddits. In r/geography it took off, spread to Twitter, and had people with huge followings tagging him. In r/webdev, a much bigger community, it got zero traction. In his words, if he’d only posted it once, he’d be speaking to me from a very different place today. We also get into why paid creator marketing rarely works for ad-driven games, why players always ask for games to get easier but never harder, how he barely writes code anymore, and why there’s still no AI art in any of his games. Kalie Moore hat dies geteiltIf your seed round is under $10M and TechCrunch, Business Insider, or Forbes is on your wishlist, you need to read this before pitching. Between July and September, we logged 71 funding stories across TechCrunch, Forbes and Business Insider, and tracked the size of every round. Here's the median round each one covered: TechCrunch: $117.5M Forbes: $70M Business Insider: $22M Business Insider covered the most early-stage rounds, with 7 of its 21 at $10M or under. Forbes had only 3 of 14, and the smallest of those, a $4M round, was a story we placed :) Placing 100M+ rounds is much easier, but smaller rounds can absolutely land tier one. We've gotten Acti into TechCrunch at $5.3M, snag and Cheer Games into Forbes at $4M and $4.5M, and Uplane into Business Insider at $4.5M. But the story wasn’t the raise. Here’s how we did it: Acti: Led with product. The pitch led with the launch of their AI keyboard and offered the reporter early access. The funding round was mentioned at the end. snag: Led with a broader trend, We went to a reporter who covers the creator economy with a trend story about housing as its next frontier, and Snag was at the center of it. Uplane: We led with the numbers + clients. They crossed $1M in ARR within six months and had Deutsche Bahn as a client. And sometimes the placements come down to a mix of story + timing + luck, which is one of the many reasons why PR is stressful. For founders raising under $10M, here's where I'd start: 🤞🏼 Level set your expectations before you pitch anyone and always offer an exclusive. ✨ Find the most compelling part of your story, because the raise is usually the least newsworthy thing about you. 🧠 Get creative with your angles, whether that's a trend piece, your traction numbers, or your founder story. 💪🏼 Consider working with a comms partner who'll dig for that story with you, because at this round size it takes real work to find.

Kalie Moore hat dies geteiltSeptembers highs from High Vibe PR in 60 seconds 🔥 Instead of our usual weekly highs, we put the whole month into one banger video. A few moments I'm still riding high on: ✨Two clients on broadcast - traditional (Fox news) + new media (etn) ✨Overwolf launched its In-Game Audience Map onstage at IAB PlayFronts, covered exclusively by Variety, with interviews in Forbes, AdExchanger and Marketing Dive. ✨I sat down with Michael Metzger for an IRL Naavik gaming podcast episode, and joined Joseph Kim on GameMakers to talk about what actually works in game PR right now. ✨Plus Forbes exclusives for snag's seed round and Gauth's new UGC feature, which also launched on Product Hunt. ✨ Lots of great gaming hits including Pocket Worlds acquiring Hotel Hideaway. October is already moving. We're kicking off two new partnerships, one in gaming and one in AI music, heading to Helsinki for PCG Nordics, and gearing up for Lisbon next month. If you're heading to Web Summit, I'm thinking about hosting a gaming and entertainment dinner. Comment or DM me if you want an invite 👋🏻

Kalie Moore hat dies gepostetThe AI whistleblower story that took over the internet this month has a PR plot twist. As someone who books these interviews for a living, there are a few things about the timeline that jumped out at me. 📰 On September 8th, the biggest headline in this AI newscycle dropped when AI researcher Jacob Coxon announced in a WSJ exclusive that he was quitting Anthropic because the frontier labs were putting the world at risk. His X thread passed 173 million views. The news went EVERYWHERE. 🔍 On Thursday, Pirate Wires reported that Jacob has been working with DEY., a communications firm associated with prominent AI safetyists, including Eliezer Yudkowsky and MIRI. 🎙️ Why this matters: Jacob was positioned as a whistleblower. When Bret Baier asked him on Fox whether he worked with any third parties, he said "not at all." An email shows DEY. was booking him that same day. 📈 A few things looked a little fishy. His X account was inactive before the thread. He secured a fancy interview on his first try. A day after his first post, he was on CNN, NBC and Fox, with Axios, TIME and WIRED interviews out too. Whoever ran that did a great job. ⚖️ To be fair, Pirate Wires says it doesn't know when the relationship began. Nate Soares says he introduced Jacob to DEY. once the post passed 100,000 likes, so this could be a firm organizing inbound interest. 🤔 So what's real? And why does this matter? Did Jacob act on his own because he believes it? Is a firm doing this on behalf of its other clients who are prominent AI doomers? Is it broader, maybe political? Or, to be really cynical, does this take pressure off Anthropic's IPO? 💡 If you've been in PR for a while, you probably read every story like I do. I can't casually read the news without thinking about who wanted this story in there, who pitched it, and why. 🔮 Fear is the easiest story to sell, and "AI could kill us all" might be the most powerful version of it right now. Whether Jacob is right or wrong, it's a good reminder to ask who might be working behind the scenes when a story like this shows up everywhere at once. PR friends, when a story breaks this big, what's the first thing you look for?

So naturally, I had to put one of the masterminds behind the owl to the test. On the latest episode of Campaign Chemistry, I sat down with Katherine Chan, Duolingo's senior director of brand marketing, for a conversation about the creative chaos behind one of the internet's most recognizable brands. We got into Kat's pretty incredible career path: moving to Austria for Red Bull without speaking German, raising her hand to become a PM in Elon Musk's office at Tesla, running comms for Zuckerberg at Meta and eventually finding her way to Duolingo. And the timing couldn't have been better: We recorded just days after Duolingo showed up outside Apple's NYC flagship store as an Apple Genius, handing out green apples to celebrate the launch of the iPhone Duo. We talked creative freedom, moving at the speed of the internet, knowing when to push a brand's boundaries and why good taste might be the ultimate competitive advantage. AI data overload and AI speeding impacts governments, companies, communities, and individuals, affecting productivity, focus, and generating AI fatigue. AI data overload and AI speeding not only applies to business tasks, but when workers go through primary communication channels like emails, messages, social media, and phone calls, they find themselves overwhelmed with AI-driven engagement. AI data overload and AI speeding also affects specific departments; this includes HR or executives making decisions, and security teams, which can not keep up with the amount of alerts that AI-driven cyberattacks are generating. In this report professionals from companies in different industries explain how they experience AI data overload and AI speeding, how it affects their operations and workers, and how they are navigating the issue.

Founders: Your ads manager's "hustle" is why your CAC won't come down It's no longer the version of rapid testing you learned to look for Lets say there are two types of ads managers. Which would you choose? Person A: • Launches 3-5 new creatives every couple of days • In the dashboard daily • Kills underperforming ads within 48 hours • Sends you Loom updates constantly Person B: • Launches one batch of 10-30 ads once per week • Doesn't touch anything for 7 days • Only kills ads what blow past break-even after the week • Seems... weirdly hands-off Who do you want on your team?? --------------------------------------- Most founders pick Person A Diligent Proactive Clearly "on it." But Person A is keeping your account in permanent learning mode And learning mode isn't where the profit lies Meta needs ~50 conversions to optimize Every time you kill an ad early, you reset the clock You're paying learning-phase CPMs on a permanent basis Person B looks lazy But Person B is letting Meta do what it's designed to do Person B is the one who actually scales As platforms leverage more AI in their backend, doing nothing when nothing is the right move is going to be the hardest part of running successful campaigns This isn't a contrarian take This is how Meta's (not-so) new Andromeda algorithm is designed to work Be honest, are you paying for activity... or results? Can you stick with the plan?

Every junk lead you send back to Meta makes your ads worse. Meta's algorithm only knows what you tell it. If every signup counts the same in your conversion event, it just finds you more signups. Not more customers. The fix is a conversion setup most teams skip. Send qualified leads back as a separate event from junk leads, or assign conversion values so a real opportunity is worth something and a dead lead is worth zero. Do that and the algorithm stops chasing volume. It starts chasing value, because that's the only signal you gave it. Works for B2B lead gen, ecommerce, or freemium signups. Whatever event you optimize for is the behavior you get more of. Stop training your ads to bring you more junk. What event are you actually optimizing for right now? https://lnkd.in/eC7jndru #B2BMarketing #PaidSocial

Most founders are drowning in dashboards. 🆘 Revenue charts. Ad metrics. Conversion rates. ROAS. CAC. LTV. CTR. CPC. MRR. ARR. It looks impressive. It feels productive. But deep down? They’re still unsure. Because more numbers ≠ more clarity. You don’t need 20 metrics. You need 3. Cash. Profit. Clarity. That’s it. CASH – CAN YOU SURVIVE? If sales stopped next month, how long can you operate calmly? Not optimistically. Calmly. PROFIT – IS YOUR MODEL ACTUALLY HEALTHY? Not “we made money this month.” I mean: Are your margins strong enough to support hiring? Are you pricing for sustainability? Are you building something durable — or just busy? CLARITY – CAN YOU MAKE DECISIONS CONFIDENTLY? Can you look at your numbers and decide: • Yes, we can hire. • No, we shouldn’t expand yet. • Yes, this product works. • No, this is draining us. Most founders don’t lack ambition. They lack financial structure. So they overcompensate with more dashboards. More tracking. More noise. But financial leadership isn’t about complexity. It’s about focus. Inside the Founder Finance Starter Kit, we teach the CPC framework: Cash. Profit. Clarity. So you stop obsessing over everything — and start strengthening what actually stabilizes your business. Simple. Non-intimidating. Founder-first. Because financial leadership should not feel like an accounting class. It should feel like confidence. If your numbers currently overwhelm you instead of empowering you — then this masterclass replay is for you. Details: https://lnkd.in/ghV5rDxm

DTC brands - take this super important Black Friday advice from me: -Don’t spend too much time on design and copy revisions if that means you’ll send fewer emails Sending 5 ugly emails with generic copy during the BF period is far better than sending 2 perfectly designed emails with cute copy. During Black Friday and Cyber Monday, you’re not trying to educate or persuade. You’re not trying to be cute or entertaining. You’re trying to stay top of mind and sell. People are already in buying mode by default. Don’t let design and copy revisions delay your emails. Only do them if they DON’T affect your sending schedule in ANY way. Don’t have time to design a new pretty email in Figma? Literally take the last one you sent, tweak the headline a bit, and resend it. Nobody will notice and even if they do, nobody will care. Don’t waste time on noise. Top-of-mind awareness is the most important thing during BF. You’re fighting for people’s attention against dozens of other brands in their inboxes. Nobody cares or has time to open every single email and think “wow this one has cute copy and design, I’ll buy”. It doesn’t work like that. Lots of people will see your sender name in their inbox, get reminded of you, then check out your website later and buy. Stay top of mind as much as possible without harming your deliverability too much - that’s the only goal. Ps: I was inspired to write this post after my latest discussion with Jacob Mars #emailmarketing

Honestly - you only need 3 Meta campaigns. I know that sounds wild to most DTC companies currently running 12. But almost every account we audit has the same problem: too many isolated campaigns that don't talk to each other, no creative graduation system, and Meta fighting itself trying to optimize across all of it. This is how we structure every account we run. The first campaign is a CBO and it's where all the real work happens. All budget decisions live at the campaign level. Every ad group inside is a creative test except for one, which is the winner. Tests run for 7 to 14 days depending on how fast they spend. If a test outspends the current winner, it earns its way into the winning slot. Old test goes down, new one cycles in. We've scaled single CBOs to $15,000 or $20,000 a day this way. The second campaign is an Advantage Plus Shopping campaign, and it's only for sprints like new product drops, Black Friday and big promos. ASC campaigns love to alternate between prospecting and retargeting without telling you, so they look amazing during high intent windows and then fall off a cliff three weeks later. The third campaign is your catalog campaign. Added to cart but didn't purchase, plus dynamic prospecting - one campaign, light touch, don't overthink it. The whole account is just 3 campaigns. Meta has been signalling this direction since iOS 14. The brands still running fragmented account structures from 2018 are paying more for worse results and wondering why their CAC keeps climbing. Simplify the structure and let creative do the targeting.

STOP running your Google Ads account alone. I built a room where 50 eCommerce founders run theirs together instead. Here's how it works: Monday: one founder's account gets read live. Everyone takes the change list home. Tuesday to Thursday: you post your question. The founders who already solved it answer with their numbers. Friday: one report. What moved across all 50 accounts this week. Any day: a new ad account, a new agency brief, a Q4 budget call, you bring it, the room reads it. The problem nobody talks about: - Every founder figures this out alone. - Every founder pays for the same lessons. What if you didn't run it alone anymore? That will save you a ton of € lol And somehow… Nobody is doing this. So I'm running a founder room for eCommerce Google Ads. No upsells. No fluff. Just 50 founders and their numbers.

I spent 6 hours learning Jev so you don't have to Jev speeds up B2B prospecting 40x, for under $1 👇 1/ Kills false positives in your lead lists Apollo keywords pull software tools when you search for agencies. Jev reads the scraped homepage and filters out non-agencies for $0.0006. 2/ Protects your LinkedIn account limits You only get 10 to 20 connection invites a day before LinkedIn flags your profile. Jev scores intent live, sending only the top 10% to LinkedIn and the rest to email. 3/ Filters real signals from company PR A $60M Series B means "contact now." An acquisition by Accenture means "don't contact." Jev evaluates what the signal actually means for your offer. 4/ Replaces expensive Claygent credit burns Running AI research columns on 50,000 rows burns massive Clay credits. Free web scraping (Crawl4AI) + Jev qualifies 1,000,000 companies for ~$720 total. 5/ Normalizes messy names without LLM hallucinations It cleans ALL CAPS first names and strips legal tags (LLC, Inc.) from company names. Output tokens are $0.00, so formatting is effectively free. 6/ Routes campaign replies safely Jev categorizes responses: positive, objection, timing, or unsubscribe. Hard rules stop sequences on unsubscribes and send edge cases to human review. 7/ Mines your own LinkedIn connections Export your first-degree connections CSV. Jev flags anyone who recently changed roles or joined an ICP company in seconds. I built a 1-page Notion teardown with: - The exact Jev decision prompts for ICP qualification - The 4-tool stack (Data API + Free Scraper + Jev + Sequencer) - The step-by-step SOP to qualify 1,000 leads in under 10 seconds

Most agency owners think scale means more hires, more stress or more debt. It doesn’t. The smartest founders are merging in a strategic way. Two lean teams. Complementary services. Aligned mindset. Suddenly you double EBITDA, expand your reach and build something worth far more than the parts. This is not theory. This is how seven figure exits actually happen. If you are tired of running alone, this is the smarter way forward.

How brands like Lovable, Gamma hit their goal by just doing influencer marketing Most SaaS companies think influencer marketing is “just for D2C.” Wrong. It’s one of the highest-leverage growth loops in SaaS when you treat it like a system, not a gamble. Here’s what actually works: 1. Go wide first, then refine ruthlessly Most teams pick 5 creators, pray for virality, then say “influencers don’t work.” Here's what Gamma did: They tested dozens of creator personas, platforms, and formats. Start with a 10–20k/month test budget for 3–6 months and Map every audience that experiences the pain their SaaS solves Work with micro + niche experts (they convert way better than celebrity accounts) Offer base + performance incentives Let creators create because scripted content, dies instantly Once 20–30 winning formats emerge? Scale those creators, cut the rest. 2. Treat creators like strategic partners, not ad slots Your best creators aren’t just content machines They’re distribution, insight, and product feedback all in one. Bring them into: > Feature launches > Webinar collabs > Long-term ambassador deals > Co-created tutorials and guides The deeper the collaboration, the lower your CAC becomes over time. 3. Use influencer content everywhere (not just on their feed) High-performing influencer content becomes: > Paid ads > Landing page hero videos > Onboarding assets > Email sequences > Retargeting creatives This is how you turn “a shoutout” into a scalable acquisition engine. If you aren’t repurposing creator content 10 different ways, you’re leaving 90% of ROI on the table. 4. Measure what actually matters Influencer marketing fails when teams measure the wrong things. Track: - Engagement → Are people paying attention? - Sign-ups → Which creators drive real trials? - Website traffic → Which formats spark curiosity? - CAC per creator → Who actually brings revenue? - Sales → Who brings buyers, not tourists? Double down on creators who drive revenue, not vanity metrics. 5. Build influencer marketing into your product loop Smart brands use: > Affiliate payouts > Viral bonuses > Creator-only feature previews > Free lifetime plans for top partners If creators win, they stick. If they stick, your growth compounds. Influencer marketing was a massive unlock for Gamma on their path from $0 → $50M ARR. Most SaaS teams dismiss it because they try it once, with 3 creators, for 2 weeks. The winners test aggressively, track obsessively, iterate fast, and treat creators like growth partners. I spent years learning this. So, you don’t have to. Comment "Playbook" if you need a detailed breakdown on how Influencer Marketing works.
