I really like Mahershala Ali, and I have every intention of holding this one against the MCU, permanently. This was the ONE Marvel thing I was actually excited about.
I loved Rogue Trader, and have thought about buying it for the Switch 2, but the reason I'd consider rebuying it is to play with the Switch 2's joycon mouse controls, which no one ever mentions. Not one sentence, in any review of this game, ever. I'm not even sure if it can be played in mouse mode on the Switch 2, and if it can, are the controls any good, or will I be driven back to using the controllers?
Nothing about the first season convinced me this show was necessary, from an artistic standpoint. I was hoping Bruce Timm would have better ideas. There's nothing wrong with it, it's fine, perfectly adequate, but we already have many years of a much, much better Batman cartoon.
I would have been so thrilled for a return to Terry and Batman Beyond, where there was so much left unsaid.
I don't know who started the idea, it's probably all copied directly from some game I don't play, but the sprites in Fortnite are just the augments from League's (relatively) new (and wonderful) ARAM Mayhem mode, given form and cuteness and turned into backpacks.
The pets are cool, but so far I like the default Great Dane dog they gave me a lot better than any of the fancy dog/cat options. I probably haven't seen enough of them, I just got back to Fortnite a few days ago.
I like Strange New Worlds and consider myself a fan, but I will admit that I've enjoyed each season a little less than the one that came before it, and my enthusiasm for season four is fairly tepid. I like the ideas put forth by Strange New Worlds more than I like their actual execution on the episodes. And while I love their Spock, I can't stand their Kirk, so I'm definitely not excited about the story finally transitioning to Kirk at the helm.
I miss Lower Decks. I think new Star Trek works better as a cartoon.
Because of convenience. Gamestop was like stopping at a 7-11. Walmart/Target electronics is half a mile from where you park, so you can then spend ten minutes trying to figure out if anyone is working in that section, and then they have to call Randy on the walkie-talkie because only Randy has the keys to the game cabinet, so that's more waiting. It's never just buying a game real quick, it's always a whole big saga. Physical media didn't fall. It was pushed.
I want Fallout 5 to feel like a game from the year I buy it, not another monument to gaming in 2001, like Starfield.
Fallout4 was way too shooter-y for me. And the story was not just dumb, but poorly told.
Fallout 4: "Hey, you just woke up from cryosleep, and I know that from your perspective your missing husband and baby were only 15 minutes ago, but what would be great is if you, the lawyer from ancient suburbia, could fight your way up to the roof, repair the most advanced piece of technology on the planet using only the stuff in your purse, and then become Iron Man to battle an invading army of super mutants."
Me: "But my family..."
Fallout 4: "We can talk about your family after you've run six hundred low priority errands and reinvented corn."
This was the ONE MCU thing I really cared about and was looking forward to seeing. I love Mahershala Ali, and Blade was in my book club. I hope this production can be salvaged somehow.
By the time 2026 is over, Sony, Xbox and Nintendo will all have somehow squandered whatever goodwill they've spent three decades accumulating in my life. I liked playing games better when I liked the people who made games. I am already finding myself diverting funds away from games, these days, and towards other household projects.
Forza has a progression problem, because it's all set up for Forza being shiny and new. Like, when you first start any given Forza game, it's fine that wheelspins are the worst reward in gaming, because there's so much else to feel happy about. But they don't stay new forever, and the minute you start feeling bored or annoyed with the game, here come the wheelspins to pee on your shoe. It's always a bad wheelspin that tells me it's time to uninstall Forza. Every single time.
I bought Forza 5 at launch, and during my fifth big foray into the game, five years and 400+ hours of playtime later, I finally found the AMC Javelin I'd been looking for since day one. The insanely long search was not fun or interesting or engaging in any way. It just sucked, and made me like FH5 less than I would have otherwise. The whole point of crazy car games is that you CAN have the weird cool car you'd never be able to find or afford in real life. Why would you recreate the feeling of exclusion from the real world in your fantasy version?
It's been a while now, but I have that whole excursion filed under "shareholders nag Nintendo into begrudging release of mobile games". And then those mobile games were fun for, literally, five minutes, and then none of us ever thought about them again.
All I see here is Nintendo reallocating resources that they've been spending on something stupid. Maybe now those dev teams can work on games that anyone actually wants.
I was a big fan of this remaster back when I thought it was going to be $40, but then it arrived at $70, which is absolutely absurd for a remake. By the time it's cheap enough to buy, it will have gone back to being some old game I don't care about, just like Oblivion did a week after its remaster landed.
I'm bored the minute the stakes turn out to be EVERYTHING. I'd be excited to watch a movie where a super-hero stops some bank robberies and gets a cat down from a tree. I'm so insanely bored of the whole world/universe needing to be saved every time someone puts on a cape.
Thirty years, and I still get Bill Pullman confused with Bill Paxton every time I try to bring up either one of them. That is, perhaps, the real legacy of Independence Day.
We can still save physical media, but we'd all have to act together, and our collective stance would need to be something along the lines of "don't talk to me about the ps6 or any future consoles, because consoles die with physical media".
The writers at sites like this one would have the toughest job, because they'd have to follow through, and simply refuse to cover the next generation of consoles as long as they're digital-only. You'd have to stop telling us about the ps6, and we'd have to stop asking. If we both did our part, Sony would panic and abandon their plans to abandon physical media, for at least one more generation.
I'm going to do what little I can, which means no more clicking articles about the ps6 or Series Why. Which should be easy; consoles will apparently end with the ps5 and Series X, so there's no need to discuss them further.
Gamestop is the scummy version of a pawn shop. I would be thrilled to see that whole chain collapse in on itself and go away forever. That would be the end of a blight, and cause for celebration.

2023's most overlooked RPG is better than ever on Switch 2

Fortnite's The Simpsons revival is also throwing in a cartoon John Wick
I'll be in Fortnite all week, dressed as the real Baba Yaga, hunting John Wicks.
Shame on them for reducing such an amazing swath of folklore to "the boogeyman".
Batman: Caped Crusader season 2 has a few hits, but it’s mostly a nostalgia act

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds keeps putting gimmicks over storytelling

PlayStation fans are still furious about physical discs, but the data proves Sony is right to kill them

Forza Horizon 6 update throws the game's economy into chaos

Switch 2's new deckbuilding game is actually an unexpected Sega Saturn revival
Me: What a cool looking $30 game. I must buy it immediately.
Switch 2: It's $60.
Me: Let's revisit this game next summer, when we've all had time to calm down.
The future of League of Legends Classic is in your hands
I miss Twisted Treeline. It was fun and friendly like ARAM, not toxic AF like the Rift.
When even Nintendo is killing games, you know things are bad
It's been a while now, but I have that whole excursion filed under "shareholders nag Nintendo into begrudging release of mobile games". And then those mobile games were fun for, literally, five minutes, and then none of us ever thought about them again.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced reviews show remake fatigue has well and truly set in
I was a big fan of this remaster back when I thought it was going to be $40, but then it arrived at $70, which is absolutely absurd for a remake. By the time it's cheap enough to buy, it will have gone back to being some old game I don't care about, just like Oblivion did a week after its remaster landed.
Superhero fatigue isn't a real thing, Marvel just makes bad movies now
I'm bored the minute the stakes turn out to be EVERYTHING. I'd be excited to watch a movie where a super-hero stops some bank robberies and gets a cat down from a tree. I'm so insanely bored of the whole world/universe needing to be saved every time someone puts on a cape.

PS5 fans flock to piracy as Sony plans to ditch physical games
