Lucen Timeline Add-in updates & release history

This update fixes several issues with installing, updating, and using Lucen Timeline, including sign-in problems, slow editing, and unexpected crashes.

Installation and updates

• Installation errors fixed: Setup now correctly recognizes when Microsoft WebView2 is already installed, including on computers using Microsoft Edge 150 or newer.
• Installation no longer freezes: Fixed an issue where setup could stop responding while preparing your computer. You'll also see messages showing when installation is preparing and finishing.
• Repair and uninstall fixes: If Lucen Timeline is installed both for you and for everyone on your computer, repairing or uninstalling it now works on the correct installation.
• No more duplicate app entries: Updating Lucen Timeline no longer creates two entries in Windows Apps & features.
• Your previous version is restored if an update fails: If an update doesn't complete successfully, Lucen Timeline restores your previous version instead of leaving the application uninstalled.
• Your IT team's settings stay in place: If your IT team has turned off automatic update checks, in-app notifications, or usage data collection, those settings stay off after an update.
• Cleaner uninstall: Uninstalling Lucen Timeline now removes the empty installation folder that was previously left behind.

Using Lucen Timeline in PowerPoint

• Sign-in issues fixed: Fixed an issue where some users couldn't log in or stay logged in and received a "Check your internet connection" message.
• Faster editing on larger slides: Making changes in the Style Pane is now faster on slides with many shapes, and PowerPoint responds more quickly between edits.
• Undo works correctly with the timeline editor: Fixed an issue where using Undo several times before opening Edit Timeline or Edit Data could cause the timeline on your slide and the editor to show different information.
• Fewer unexpected crashes: Fixed several issues identified through crash reports that could cause Lucen Timeline to close unexpectedly.

For IT administrators

• Silent installation errors: All-user installations started without administrator permissions now stop and return an error code instead of getting stuck.
• Restart notifications: Silent uninstalls now return exit code 3010 when a restart is required.
• Microsoft Entra ID installation detection: Setup now detects existing individual-user installations for Microsoft Entra ID users before installing Lucen Timeline for everyone on a computer.

• Stay productive when working offline: Lucen Timeline now does a better job of maintaining your existing access when an internet connection isn’t available.
• Improved account access: Updates make signing in, signing out, and returning to Lucen Timeline more consistent.
• Accurate plan status: Changes to your plan or seat are now reflected correctly in Lucen Timeline.
• Fewer unnecessary messages: Fixed an issue where some users could see a trial message that no longer applied to their account.
• Improved PowerPoint stability: Fixed an issue where a presentation could close unexpectedly while a Lucen Timeline dialog was open.

• Stay up to date with less effort: Lucen Timeline now lets you know in the add-in when a new version is available and automatically downloads it in the background, so it’s ready when you choose to update. This makes it easier to stay on the latest build without having to visit the website.
• Keep updates on your organization’s schedule: If your company manages Lucen Timeline through IT, your existing deployment process stays the same. IT teams can continue controlling when and how new versions are rolled out across the organization.

• Easier setup for new users
  Getting started with Lucen Timeline is now simpler. New users will see a more guided setup that makes it easier to choose a PowerPoint theme and create their first timeline.

• The Today Marker can now extend as a customizable vertical line across your timeline, making it easier to see where today falls. Adjust the style, thickness, and color to fit your visual.
• Signing in now takes fewer steps. If you're already signed in to your Lucen account in your browser, you can continue into Timeline without entering your credentials again.
• To keep shared timeline files working correctly, update at the same time as your team. Coordinate with your IT administrator if your organization manages updates.
