If I had to land a job in 30 days or less, here’s exactly what I’d do 👇 Spoiler: It’s not by applying to 100+ jobs online. Step 1: Build My Target List → Choose 15–20 companies I actually want to work for (where my skills and values align). Step 2: Research Like a Detective → Read their career site, company news, and leadership updates. → Spot growth areas or projects where I could add value. Step 3: Connect With Insiders → Find 2–3 employees per company on LinkedIn. → Engage with their content, comment genuinely, and start a real conversation authentic > cold. Step 4: Book Coffee Chats → Ask how they got in, what the culture’s like, and what skills make someone stand out. → These insights are your cheat codes for interviews. Step 5: Ask for Referrals (Strategically) → Once there’s a genuine connection, ask if they’d be open to referring you. Many companies reward employees with referral bonuses for bringing in top talent so it’s a win-win. You get visibility, they get rewarded. Step 6: Apply With Context → Tailor your resume & cover letter with what you learned. → Mention company projects, team goals, or even the person who inspired you. That’s exactly what I did I built connections that turned into opportunities. The hidden job market isn’t on job boards It’s in conversations and referrals ☕

2 months of searching, 11 interview invitations, 8 first interviews, 5 final rounds, 4 offers. 1 job accepted. Before landing my job, I spent around two months actively job hunting in the UAE (Dubai & Abu Dhabi). As someone who has been living in Dubai for the past few months, I want to share some insights and tips for those navigating the job market in the #UAE: There's no magic formula, but here’s what worked for me: 🔹 LinkedIn Easy Apply: Everyone says it doesn’t work, but it does! I landed 2 interviews this way. The key? Choosing the right jobs and applying strategically, do not apply because you want to apply. 🔹 Referrals: This is the real game-changer! Two of my offers came through referrals. If you know someone in the company, don’t hesitate to reach out. 🔹 Reaching out directly: I messaged hiring managers on LinkedIn, highlighting how my skills and experience matched their roles. This approach got me 3 interview invitations. Taking the initiative can make a huge difference! 🔹 Career websites: The rest of my interviews came from simply applying through company career portals. It’s a numbers game, so keep applying! The job market here is highly competitive. Many talented candidates are applying for the same roles. A rejection doesn’t mean you’re not good enough, it just means someone else was a better fit. And that’s okay. To wrap up: Apply, apply, apply! Use different strategies, reach out if you believe you're the right fit, and most importantly, don’t give up. 💡 Keep pushing. Keep applying. Keep improving. #jobhunt #dubai #storytelling #job

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 W𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 S𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿. During a conversation yesterday, I was asked why I am so passionate about W𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 S𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. My answer was simple: The feeling I get when someone finds a job is difficult to describe. Knowing that an opportunity can change not only one person’s career, but sometimes an entire family’s future, is deeply satisfying. But finding a job today requires a different approach. It takes candidates effort beyond simply applying online: • Step outside your comfort zone • Build genuine professional relationships • Seek referrals and guidance • Attend industry events • Stay visible and keep learning, evolving The same person told me, “No one responds to me on LinkedIn.” I asked how you approached people. Instead of immediately asking, “Please find me a job” or “Can I share my CV?”, try beginning with: “𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗜 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲?” or “𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗜 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?” Build trust first. Show genuine interest. Allow the relationship to develop. Then, when the right opportunity appears, that person may naturally think of you. A few months ago, two professionals approached me this way, one for 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and another for 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 role and one candidate from India and another candidate from the UAE. They stayed connected without repeatedly asking for a job. When relevant opportunities came up, I was able to remember and assist them. Networking is about building genuine relationships, learning from others and supporting one another when the right opportunity arises. The strongest connections are often built long before we need them. If you are applying for just any finance job in the UAE, you might be making a big mistake. The UAE finance job market isn’t just “one” market. It’s a mix of opportunities, some that accelerate your growth, and others that leave you stuck in cycles of reporting with no learning curve. As a finance professional working in Dubai, here’s what I have seen first-hand: You need to choose where you fit, not just who’s hiring. Here are some clear paths available: 💡FP&A & Controllership Large corporates and MNCs are looking for business-savvy finance minds, those who can influence decisions, not just close books. 💡Big 4 & Audit Firms Great for those looking to build technical strength and regulatory exposure. Demanding, but solid for your foundation. 💡Family Offices & Investment Holdings You will get a seat at the table, but you will also be wearing many hats: accounting, strategy, and even legal reviews at times. 💡Tech Startups & Fintechs If agility, automation, and growth excite you, DIFC-based startups might be your arena. You learn fast, or be left behind. 💡Banking & Treasury Roles UAE-based banks are evolving fast. There’s room for people who understand regional economics and finance transformation. 💡Real Estate, Hospitality, and Trading Groups Great for those who want commercial exposure, not just number crunching. The UAE rewards ambition, but only if you choose wisely. You want to stand out in the GCC job market? Here’s what it actually takes. Not a Canva CV. Not “open to work” on your profile. Not posting about how “excited you are for your next challenge.” The Gulf is now one of the most competitive markets in the world. Everyone is coming here. And the volume is only going one way, up. Here’s the playbook: - Regional experience matters. If you’ve worked here, you’re ahead of 80% of applicants. Most hiring managers won’t gamble on someone learning the region from scratch. - Specialised skills get hired. Generalists are everywhere. Specialists still stand out, and still get paid. - You need more than a title. Show impact. Not “Marketing Director.” Try “Led digital transformation across three GCC markets and grew revenue by 42%.” - Relationships beat CVs If no one in the market knows you, that’s on you. Engage, connect, comment, DM. Do the work. - Build a personal brand that speaks before you do. If people can see how you think, what you’ve delivered, and where you add value, you become trusted, not just available. This is the edge almost nobody talks about. Because in a noisy market, attention is the gateway to opportunity. If I’ve seen your content, heard your name, or had you recommended, you’ve already moved up the list. The GCC doesn’t just hire talent. It hires trusted, visible talent. Talent that understands the region, and is known in it. You don’t need to be loud. But you do need to be seen. Show up. Add value. Make it impossible to ignore you. That’s how you stand out. That’s how you get hired. That’s how you win in this market. MCG Talent 7-Figure Recruitment Scaling Systems

When I started applying in UAE, I faced complete silence — no replies, no calls. Until I changed my approach which helped me get multiple calls within 30 days of being here. If you’re applying endlessly on job portals and still getting 0 replies, read this before you give up. 1. Don’t just apply on job portals Most vacancies are never posted online. What made the difference? — I started personally reaching out to HRs, CFOs, Finance Controllers & Talent Acquisition Heads on LinkedIn for the companies I was targeting. That’s how real conversations start. 2. Build a local LinkedIn network If you’re targeting the UAE, connect with UAE-based professionals. Your feed will start showing relevant job posts and company updates. Use Google to list top companies in that country or city, then connect with people working there. 3. Apply everywhere (smartly) Use all major job apps and even consider taking premium versions of 2–3 platforms. Visibility matters — especially in competitive markets. 4. Stay active on LinkedIn Don’t just apply silently. Start sharing posts, updates, and even your job search journey. An active profile signals recruiters that you’re serious and engaged. 5. Use a local contact number in your CV If you’re applying for UAE roles, mention a UAE number. Many recruiters filter out international numbers — I’ve personally seen this matter. 6. Keep circulating your CV Share it with people, recruiters, and even peers. The more you engage, the more likely someone will refer or reach out directly. 7. Quality > Quantity in applications If you’re applying for 10 jobs a day — pick 2 you really want. Spend time writing the right cover letter (AI can help!). And if the job description has an email ID, don’t rely only on “Easy Apply.” Email them. It often gets better responses. Final Thought: Your job search is not a numbers game — it’s a connection game. Right people + right positioning = right opportunity. If this helped, please share it — it might reach someone who’s been struggling silently in their job search journey 💪 #JobSearch #UAEJobs #CareerTips #LinkedInTips #JobHunt #FinanceJobs

7 AI Prompts That Turn Fluffy Bullets Into Metric-Driven Wins (Use These To Boost Your Resume’s Visibility): 1. The XYZ Formula Most bullets say what you did, not what changed. Use this prompt to force numbers: “Rewrite this bullet using the XYZ formula: [Action] + [Metric] + [Business outcome]. Ask me up to five questions to fill in the missing numbers. If I do not know a number, suggest a safe proxy and explain the math”. This can turn “Managed social media” into “Planned a 90-day content calendar that grew weekly reach by 58%”. 2. Baseline To After (With Percentage Lift) Hiring managers want before-and-after proof. You can do this by using this prompt: “Turn this bullet into a baseline to after with a percentage lift. Ask me for the starting number, the ending number, and the timeframe”. Now, instead of “Improved site speed”? You can have something like: “Improved page load time by 74% by optimizing image assets and caching”. 3. Time And Cost Saved Time saved = Money saved. Use this prompt for a compelling resume bullet with measurable time-saving results: “Rewrite the bullet to quantify hours and cost saved. Ask me for minutes per task, frequency, number of people involved, and average hourly rate. Show the calculation and the final result." This will give you something like: “Automated weekly report delivery, saving five hours per week for four analysts at forty-five dollars per hour.” 4. Scale And Scope Scale and scope show difficulty and impact. Use this prompt: “Add scope metrics such as users, customers, products, regions, team size, or budget. Ask me which apply. Keep the bullet to one line with two or three numbers”. The results? Before: “Led onboarding.” After: “Led onboarding across three regions for 120+ customers” 5. Quality And Reliability Quality can be measured by several indicators. Use this prompt to help you improve your resume bullet: “Quantify quality using one of the following: defect rate, error rate, customer satisfaction, net promoter score, service level agreement adherence, or rework. Ask me what I can provide. If none, suggest a simple way to measure." This turns “Improved support quality” into “Introduced a quality checklist that reduced reopened tickets by 41%." 6. Speed And Throughput Speed demonstrates operational excellence. Use this prompt: “Turn the bullet into a speed or throughput result. Ask for cycle time before and after, items per week, and weekly throughput limits. Format the result as ‘from A to B’ plus a weekly output figure”. “Streamlined release process” is now “Standardized release checklist, reducing deployment time from three days to six hours and increasing deployments from two to five per week”. 📊 Need help turning your resume into a $150k-$250k+ job generating machine? 👉 Book a free 30-min Clarity Call and we'll show you how we help craft job-winning resumes for our clients: https://lnkd.in/d5Wpe5Wp

If you're job hunting in Dubai right now, stop applying on portals. Here's what actually works: Identify 20 target companies — not 200. Focus beats volume. Find the hiring manager on LinkedIn — not HR. The decision maker matters more. Engage with their content for 1 week — genuine comments, not "great post!" Send a DM — not a CV. Say: "I've been following your work at [company]. I have a background in X and would love to understand if there's alignment. Open to a 15-minute call?" Follow up once, politely. Persistence is good. Pressure is not. The hidden job market in Dubai is real. Most roles are filled before they're ever posted. Your network is your net worth, especially here! Know someone struggling to find a job in Dubai? Send them this.

Outdated resume features I still see in 2025 and what to do instead. Ditch these... ❌ Objective statements. “Seeking a challenging role…” ✅ Do this: A 3-4 line value summary with your niche, scope, and outcomes. ❌ Buzzwords with no proof. “Results-driven team player.” ✅ Do this: Show numbers (revenue, savings, NPS, cycle time). ❌ Duty lists. 10 bullets that read like a job description. ✅ Do this: 3–5 achievement bullets per role. ❌ Headshots, DOB, full address. ✅ Do this: Name | City/State | Mobile | Email | LinkedIn URL. ❌ “References available on request.” ✅ Do this: Leave it out. Share referees later. ❌ Tables, text boxes, graphics. ✅ Do this: Clean layout that won’t break ATS. ❌ 10 pages of everything you’ve ever done since High School. ✅ Do this (AU): 2–3 pages for execs; depth on the last 10–12 years. ❌ Vague dates. “2021–2023” ✅ Do this: MMM YYYY – MMM YYYY (shows continuity/Own your gaps). ❌ Generic file names. “Resume.pdf” ✅ Do this: Surname_Role_Resume_2025.pdf Here is an example of how to write winning bullets: Action + Scope + Result “Reduced month-end close from 12 to 5 days across 4 entities by automating reconciliations (Tool/System/Platform used).” Modern structure (simple) - Value summary (niche, scale, impact) - Key achievements (3–6 headline wins) - Experience (roles with 3–5 impact bullets) - Education & Certifications (relevant + recent) - Skills/Tools (only what you use at exec level) Phrases to swap “Responsible for” ➡️ “Led / Built / Delivered” “Helped with” ➡️ “Drove / Orchestrated” “Worked on” ➡️ “Executed / Implemented” If you’re job-hunting right now: trim, quantify, and make it skimmable. _____________________________ I help executives and organisations hire better, lead stronger, and avoid costly talent mistakes. 📩 Join 3000 others and subscribe to my free newsletter for strategies on leadership, hiring, and career growth: https://lnkd.in/gzSpKjjm 🎧 Listen to The Executive Espresso here: https://lnkd.in/dCXHXFDP If you’re building your leadership bench or planning your next career move, let’s connect. #LinkedinNewsAustralia

Building on my previous posts about securing a job in Dubai, here are more details on tip number three: Visit and network on the ground. In a city like Dubai where relationships drive opportunities, nothing beats being here in person. While online platforms like LinkedIn and applications play a role, decision-makers value face-to-face interactions and many roles are filled through networking rather than job postings. Here is how you can make the most of your visit: ✈️ Plan your trip strategically: Research key industry events, conferences and networking meetups in advance. Align your visit with high-impact opportunities to connect with professionals in your field. 🤝🏾 Leverage your existing network: Let your contacts know you will be in Dubai and schedule coffee chats or meetings. A simple conversation can open unexpected doors. 🏢 Visit company offices: If you have target employers, reach out to HR or hiring managers for informational meetings. Expressing interest in person demonstrates initiative and commitment. 💡 Be present and proactive: Attend networking events with purpose. Engage in discussions, share your expertise and follow up with connections afterwards. Relationships built in person often translate into career opportunities later. 💬 Stay flexible and open-minded: Many roles in Dubai are not advertised. Being on the ground allows you to tap into the hidden job market through referrals and word-of-mouth opportunities. “Your network is your net worth.” Being in Dubai, even for a short time, can significantly enhance your job search prospects. Have you experienced the power of networking in Dubai? Please share your thoughts below! Here is a recap of my top five tips for securing a job in Dubai: 🦄 Highlight your unique value proposition. 🌍 Explore opportunities within your existing company. ✈️ Visit and network on the ground. 💻 Utilise online platforms. 🏆 Be committed and consistent.
