Vijay Pullur shared thisYesterday, the announcement from Uber's CTO revealed that the entire annual AI budget was exhausted in less than four months due to the use of Claude Code https://lnkd.in/gtu5TDGV. This highlights the challenges of achieving high-quality outcomes at AI speed while maintaining cost control, a significant concern for high-growth companies , particularly in the mid-market sector. We are pleased to announce our partnership with Accenture to assist enterprises and ISVs in delivering high-quality applications at AI speed and controlled costs. WaveMaker's proven technology, combined with Accenture's extensive domain knowledge and reach, will create a powerful market force. Our customers will experience the ideal combination of speed, and cost control. https://lnkd.in/gxsjZabt Kishore P Durg, Senthil (Sen) Ramani, Deepak Anupalli, Vikram S.Accenture and WaveMaker Announce Strategic Intent to Help Growth-Focused Organizations Scale with Agentic AI PlatformAccenture and WaveMaker Announce Strategic Intent to Help Growth-Focused Organizations Scale with Agentic AI Platform

Vijay Pullur shared thisThe world of AI code generation presents a variety of perspectives. An enthusiast may confidently affirm that it is indeed possible to create applications without writing a single line of code, often sharing their own experiences of doing so in just a few days. In contrast, an enterprise architect may express skepticism about AI's ability to replace a team working on a mission-critical application, drawing from their own experiences in the field. At WaveMaker, we have been focused on enhancing productivity at scale for enterprise-level outcomes for many years. Our recent efforts over the past three years have been dedicated to rearchitecting our solutions to enable large enterprises and independent software vendors to leverage AI without compromising on quality, speed, or control. Our approach is inspired by the innovative techniques used by multi-pass compilers, which have significantly improved the accuracy of modern programming languages. For more insights, check out my article in Infoworld discussing this topic. https://lnkd.in/gy6nTjCqThe two-pass compiler is back – this time, it’s fixing AI code generationThe two-pass compiler is back – this time, it’s fixing AI code generation

Vijay Pullur shared thisI wrote this article last week on the dilemma CEOs are facing to choose between speed and reliability, and the case for software-imposed guardrails (drawn from my own experience building them). It appeared today in The Economic Times. Coincidentally, NVIDIA's announcement of NemoClaw, just two days ago reinforces my article's thesis. https://lnkd.in/gEbpSqCqThe AI software dilemma every CEO is now facing - The Economic TimesThe AI software dilemma every CEO is now facing - The Economic Times

Vijay Pullur shared thisIn the three plus decades since I started my career in Wipro, this formula to win services business — find a winning software product vendor (I call it the winning horse), form a partnership, create competency centers, train loads of people, do joint go-to market campaigns and win business — has always worked. Until now. It’s suddenly failing with AI companies. They are what I call — tigers. And riding them is a tricky game. Month of February (before the war) was a proof of this. In the last 90 days every major services company, Accenture, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro have announced partnership with one of Anthropic, OpenAI or Google. Instead of positive impact they saw more than 25% drop in share prices in 30days. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, during his visit to India on February 27th predicted that "white-collar jobs will disappear in 5 years", definitely this is not helping their cause. Here is a piece I wrote about it in Business Today https://lnkd.in/g2ynWrZM. Vijay Pullur liked thisVijay Pullur liked thisThe real barrier to enterprise AI is that most organizations have never treated their institutional knowledge as a data asset. For a decade, the conventional wisdom was that AI was hard because it had to be hard engineered. That's over. What you cannot ignore is the decades of tacit knowledge inside your company. How your best underwriters actually decide. What your most experienced operators know that's never been written down. The judgment patterns that differentiate your firm from the competitor next door. The firms that win the next decade of AI will be the ones who realize their institutional knowledge is their moat — and that digitizing it, carefully, with provenance and governance, is now their most important data strategy question. This is one of the conversations we'll be having at AI and Digital Futures, a 1.5-day executive workshop I'm leading at ASU's W. P. Carey School of Business on May 14–15. I'll be joined by Sreekar Krishna (Principal and Head of Scaled AI at ZS Associates) and Dr. John Rares Almasan (Senior Managing Director and Head of Emerging Tech and AI at TIAA) — two practitioners who have been inside the real organizational work of turning AI investment into AI advantage - and my co-hosts of the AI Innovation Playbook series. This one falls right around my work anniversary, so it has a way of making me pause and look back. 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐝 From a small group of early backers to a community-in-making - one that is rooting for us and also rolling up their sleeves and building alongside us. From being the only employee in the US to having dependable colleagues fly in from the East Coast, a new team right here in the Bay Area that jumped in like they'd always been here, and our Bangalore team holding it down remotely - to put this event together. 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 The reason we were all in the same room: communities facing the steepest odds, showing up every single day with dignity, working hard because they believe a better future is possible. And the amazing people working alongside them, on the ground, with purpose, patience, and love. My heart is full. And restless. As Robert Frost once wrote, "And I have promises to keep. Miles to go before I sleep. Miles to go before I sleep." That sums it up. Looking forward to another year to take this important conversation across the Bay Area with himali arora & Rasika Surpali. Vijay Pullur liked thisVijay Pullur liked thisThe year was 2021, and I was building deep tech sector coverage. I remember being holed up in my parents' temporary residence in Palwal, Haryana—amid the COVID wave—and wondering: what’s the investment in AI, what is material science, where is space tech headed? I was also learning definitions of “patient capital” and “inflection point.” One technology that intrigued me was #quantum. The idea that a qubit—unlike a classical bit—can exist in multiple states simultaneously (superposition), enabling it to process layers of a problem in parallel, was fascinating. Equally striking was the infrastructure it demands: ultra-clean environments, vacuum and near-absolute zero temperatures the likes of which do not exist in nature. The adventure was a learning experience—meeting bootstrapped startups, forward-looking yet cautious investors, corporates backing it up, and daydreaming of 1,000 qubits. Cut to 2026—I am on a flight to Vijayawada to get to Amaravati. Nara Chandrababu Naidu is inaugurating a quantum reference facility that will act as a test bed for components needed to build a quantum computer. The ambition is clear, and so are the questions. Over the next two days, conversations revolved around materials, processors, and constraints—right down to the availability of Helium-3, which remains scarce. This naturally leads to larger questions: Will material dependencies impose limits? What does technological sovereignty look like in this context? But two major questions still lingered—why? Why go through the hassle of building something, the results of which might outlast the CM’s political career? Part of the answer may lie in precedent. The same leadership that helped position Hyderabad as an IT hub—unlocking long-term economic value through global capability centres—is now placing a similarly forward-looking bet. I did get to ask him though —Can the government act as “customer zero” in such a frontier space? And how will Amaravati compete in the talent race—especially with regions like Karnataka, where a quantum facility is also taking shape in Hesaraghatta? More on that in the feature. But I guess we have arrived. The quantum era will begin.

Excited to be on a panel discussing the current state of Agritech in Southeast and South Asia, following the latest report by Beanstalk AgTech and Briter and led by Mark Kahn and Omnivore and supported by IFC - International Finance Corporation, FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank and Rabo Foundation. While I think there is much to learn from the past, I do not think the future of Agritech in SEA will look like the past. This is due to three main things: 1. We cannot repeat the mistakes of the past - and must learn from them (better governance, better understanding of the value chain) 2. We must recognize the challenges of the future (climate change, geopolitical volatility) 3. We cannot stop innovating as our lives are dependent on it. Looking forward to a fruitful discussion. Building a Resilient Blue Economy: A Deep Dive into Builders Vision’s Oceans Strategy In a world increasingly aware of its ecological tipping points, systemic investment in the blue economy is not just timely but essential. Builders Vision (BV) is at the forefront of this movement, shifting paradigms to champion ocean health, climate security, and economic prosperity. Here’s how they’re making waves: Vision: Shaping a Benevolent Blue Economy At its core, Builders Vision seeks to "shift markets and minds for good." Their ambitious aim is to craft a resilient blue economy that harmonizes environmental welfare with economic gains, impacting everything from oceanic health to climate security. Design Principles: Charting the Course 1. Multi-Capital Deployment BV integrates diverse financial tools, from grants to market-rate capital, efficiently channeling resources through platforms like Builders Bridge and the Builders Initiative Foundation. 2. Strategic Focus Zeroing in on sustainable fisheries, restorative aquaculture, climate resilience, and ocean plastics, BV’s initiatives are not scattershot but highly coordinated efforts toward system building. 3. Theory of Change Guided by a 2050 vision, BV’s approach is futuristic yet practical, harmonizing short- and long-term goals to ensure dynamic capital allocation. 4. Systems Mindset By focusing on systemic necessities rather than asset-centric perspectives, BV navigates complexities with a collaborative spirit. 5. Nesting & Combinatorial Effects Through strategic alignment of investments with ecosystem interventions, BV fosters synergy among grantees and investees, amplifying impact. Impact Pathway: Navigating Bold Directions Innovation and policy shifts catalyzed by BV regenerate ocean ecosystems, with meticulous tracking of CO₂ reductions, habitat restorations, and job creation. Your startup's budget is tight. Every dollar matters. Enterprise tools don't care. They charge thousands per month for features you'll never use. Hydranaut is different. Transparent pricing. No hidden fees. No enterprise tax. You get complete service visibility, unified dashboards, and dependency mapping at a fraction of the cost. Because we believe great tools shouldn't require a massive budget. Start free. Scale affordably.

Startups don’t need VC to grow. Revenue-based financing doubled from $1.8B in 2021 to over $3.8B in 2024 and average deals are ~$350k with a 6% cap. Funding mix in 2025: VC 52%, crowdfunding 14%, RBF 11%, angels 10%, partnerships 7%, grants 6%. 1,500 companies raised $700M via crowdfunding in 2023. What I'd say if I could teleport from Africa to #RFSIEurope. Really glad to see this conversation happening in Brussels and sorry I can’t be there in person this year. Bart van der Zande points to the mismatch between what regenerative ventures actually need and the structures capital currently can offer. This mismatch feels even more potent when you look at the landscape in Africa. IFC estimates the financing gap for agricultural SMEs in Africa at $117 billion, and data from Briter shows investment markets across the continent remain fragmented and heavily concentrated at later stages, with high but fragmanted super early grant money. Missing the middle. We can talk about funding gaps, but looking more closely, the issue starts to seem less like a pure shortage of capital and more like a mismatch between the kinds of ventures emerging and the structures capital currently offers. Not just the investment stage, but the whole set of expectations that come with investment. And bear in mind, that most of our (minimal) capital is still flowing into conventional agriculture systems. Even when money is invested in adjacent subsegments like bio-inputs, it often still serves the existing industrial food and farming model rather than enabling a transition to regenerating and agroecological systems. Add regeneration into the mix and these ventures become even less legible to investors primed for the dominant tenor, return bracket, portfolio mix and so on. I’m super excited to see investors globally recognising the power of regenerative agriculture. Regenerative Food Systems Investment tracked 76 regenerative food system deals worth USD $1.45 billion in the first half of 2025. Bodies like RFSI do the noble work of showcasing that regeneration is an investible asset class, and of building the movement amongst investors: this is an incredible and necessary shift to bring big money into a sector that has super high potential. The conversation that Bart is having, and which we have all the time at Inanna takes this deeper. Understanding how capital actually needs to be structured if regenerative food systems are to grow (from our perspective, especially in places where food systems are built around smallholder economies, fragmented value chains, and long uncertain biological timelines). That means asking questions about capital design: about risk, return expectations, time horizons, and who carries what through the transition. If regenerative agriculture is becoming investible (yes!!!), the next step is making sure the capital that flows into it is actually fit for the systems it is meant to support. Really curious to hear what emerges from the cases and conversations in Brussels. Good luck all! #RegenerativeFoodSystems #CatalyticCapital #FoodSystemsFinance

Micro Carbon X From Carbon Reporting to Carbon Data Infrastructure Micro Carbon X is a carbon management platform designed to address the core limitations of traditional carbon reporting systems — systems that rely heavily on retrospective data entry and fail to reflect real human and community behavior. The platform is built on a simple belief: If carbon data is not generated from real actions, accurate calculation alone has little value. Micro Carbon X captures data directly from real-world activities such as: • Recycling through Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) • Community-level waste and resource management • Organizational, city, and public-sector activities These data streams are transformed into a Carbon Data Infrastructure that is traceable, verifiable, and actionable — enabling: • Evidence-based policy decisions • ESG and sustainability strategy development • Measurable and scalable carbon reduction initiatives Micro Carbon X is not just a carbon reporting platform. It is foundational infrastructure for behavior-driven climate action and long-term decarbonization. 🌱♻️ Data-driven. Behaviour-based. Policy-ready.

Is AI the problem or the solution? Yes, AI contributes to the climate challenge — its energy demand is enormous and growing fast. But it’s also part of the solution: enabling entirely new technologies and processes that can tackle some of the world’s toughest sustainability problems at scale 🌱. Seeing is believing: Last week in Turkey 🇹🇷— the world’s 4th largest fruit producer — I saw firsthand how FreshSens.ai applies AI and IoT to double the lifespan of perishable fruits and vegetables, dramatically reducing food waste and unnecessary CO₂ emissions. Thanks for the eye-opening visit Baran Baykurt Emiroğlu and Cem Ayyildiz.

Most early-stage founders in Israel know the struggle of applying for the Israel Innovation Authority’s Pre-Seed Grant. Applications often get stuck on the requirement to first show matching investment. We designed the EXPAND III program to remove that barrier. This cohort focuses on Physical AI, robotics, and simulation, areas where early development is expensive and time-sensitive. We’ve secured $300K in investment from Creations VC for each startup accepted into the program. If you’re selected, that investment can serve as your matching capital, helping secure an additional ≈$350K in non-dilutive IIA funding. Instead of chasing investors to qualify for a grant, you can focus on building your company. That’s what makes EXPAND III different. We built a structure that helps founders move fast, meet the IIA’s matching requirement, and gain real funding momentum from the start. (link to apply in comments)

Very happy to release my new report- ‘Venture Capital & the World It Lives In. A review of 2025 & look ahead to 2026. ‘ TL;DR ⬅️ 2025 ➖ We saw the VC ecosystem reach a healthier equilibrium between the entry & exit markets ➖ Over-valued private companies got more realistic & the exit markets stepped up across both IPO & M&A ➖ AI dominated the industry across the board from big tech through to hyper growth start-ups ➖ AI start-ups set new benchmarks for growth & valuation trajectory with both OpenAI & Anthropic worth 100’s of billions ➖ VC frameworks rapidly evolving in terms of their growth expectations & broader metrics ➖ Underlying concern about revenue quality -> revenue still needs to compound for lasting success in terms of margins & retention ➡️ 2026 ➖ Expect exit markets of IPO’s & M&A to further accelerate ➖ Big tech continues to consolidate their position as likely big winners in AI over the long run ➖ Anticipate some bumps in the road for the hyper-growth AI companies in maintaining stratospheric valuation trajectories ➖ The AI honeymoon is over bringing greater focus on ROI from customers & quality of revenues from VC’s ➖ Big escalation in the tensions between all the disparate groups in the race to build larger & larger data centres ➖ The first ever trillion dollar IPO? Researchers have built a machine learning model that integrates land, oceans, atmosphere, and sea ice, producing climate forecasts more accurate than existing systems. This represents a major step forward in climate tech, giving businesses and governments better tools to prepare for the future. This is deep tech at its best: turning advanced science into practical tools with real-world impact. But it also reflects a broader truth: disruption doesn’t always require cutting-edge models. It can also come from simpler technologies that reduce waste, optimise resources, or make industries more sustainable. At Rex, we invest across that spectrum, helping companies with disruptive potential, whether they’re pioneering machine learning models or recycling materials in new ways, to scale and commercialise successfully. 📣 If your innovation could disrupt an industry but needs support to commercialise, we’d like to hear from you. https://lnkd.in/dnqwnikN

🚨 Sharing my new Forbes article: 5 Ways Leaders Are Using AI To Build Climate Resilience Climate adaptation is no longer a distant policy conversation - it’s becoming an operational priority for governments, businesses, and communities already living through floods, heat waves, drought, and infrastructure strain. And there are more and more signals suggesting this. In that context, AI is emerging as a potential force multiplier: helping leaders plan for shocks, target resources, and keep systems functioning under stress. In this piece, I explore five real-world ways AI is already being deployed to support climate adaptation and resilience, including: 🌊 Flood forecasting and early warning ⚡ Infrastructure hardening and grid reliability 🌾 Farmer-facing tools to stabilize food systems 🔥 Heat vulnerability mapping at hyperlocal scale 🏦 Making climate risk legible to insurance and finance But there are of course caveats: AI carries real environmental costs, governance challenges, and even “derailment risk” if poorly deployed. Resilience won’t be built by algorithms alone - it will require infrastructure, trust, ethics, and inclusive execution. I covered some of this in my LinkedIn Learning course as well (see comments for that). Would love to hear where you’re seeing AI meaningfully support adaptation - and where you think the biggest risks remain. #ClimateResilience #ClimateAdaptation #AIforGood #ClimateTech #RiskManagement #Sustainability
