Peter Kellner shared thishttps://lnkd.in/eTw6c5a2 The Bulletin authors are not arguing that AI in nuclear command is dangerous because the models might be wrong. They are arguing something stronger and more structural: there is no training corpus for nuclear crisis management because the events do not exist in nature, and every proxy route — human wargames, expert case studies, AI-versus-AI synthetic data — fails in a way the proxy itself cannot detect. The risk-management strategies they survey are fools' errands. Not because the people pursuing them are unserious, but because the data foundation any learned system requires is not there and cannot be manufactured. We cannot live with this as daily, unmitigated liability. The category of commitment required to address it is the kind that produced NSC-68 — disciplined, costly, and held with consistency over time, regardless of who it satisfied. That discipline was foundational, and we have spent it. The post-war architecture treated the office of decision as something close to sacred, and the decisions it produced were made because they had to be made, not because they were popular. Consistency is what we need back. There is a technical answer to the article's data problem that the authors do not consider, because it is not statistical. The architecture has to be inverted. The discipline that governs aviation, nuclear power, and medical devices is the discipline that has to govern this: deterministic constraints set in advance, mathematically verifiable, with refusal as the default and authorization as the exception. Statistical confidence is not a substitute for proof. #AISafety #NuclearSecurity #FormalVerification #NationalSecurity

Peter Kellner shared thisPatents are about to matter more than most people realize. We are entering an economy that runs on imagination. If we navigate it well, AI could become more liberating than any era before it. If we don’t understand its architecture early, we won’t shape it—we’ll inherit someone else’s version. Consider what the dollar actually represents. Not gold. Not belief. Output. Labor, trade, technology gains, capital intensity—the cumulative productive capacity of human beings. The monetary system is, at its core, a claim on human economic activity. Now remove the human. When AI performs that output better, faster, and at near-zero marginal cost, the anchor doesn’t shift—it dissolves. What replaces it can’t be based on what people do. It has to be based on something more fundamental: that they exist. Proof of personhood becomes the new unit of economic standing. Wayne Gretzky said to skate to where the puck is going. That’s instinct. What Sam Altman is doing goes further—he’s building the rink. Through Tools for Humanity, the company he co-founded and chairs, Altman holds six granted U.S. patents covering the full pipeline: iris scanning, biometric identity verification, proof of personhood, and token distribution to verified humans. Sam Altman didn’t patent a product. He patented a gate—a toll booth between individuals and a post-labor economy. Thirteen million people have already passed through it. Patents don’t just predict the future. They define it in advance. This is strategic foresight with legal teeth. Most people are still debating whether AI will take their jobs. A smaller group is quietly designing and claiming what comes next. If you’re not paying attention, start. Patents—and their detailed filings—are one of the clearest windows into where things are heading. I’ve been following updates directly from the USPTO, and they’re genuinely useful: https://lnkd.in/eW26rYSE The next economy will be built on imagination. Tracking its creators is easy. Building something of your own is harder—and far more important. Start with what fascinates you. That’s where imagination compounds. #Patents #AI #Innovation #ProofOfPersonhood #IntellectualProperty #USPTO

Peter Kellner reposted thisPeter Kellner reposted thisA few years ago, a conversation with Satya Nadella deepened my thinking—especially about how to convince skeptical employees, analysts and investors about a new strategy, in this case a “lower-margin” bet that actually creates more value. In 2014, Microsoft was worth hundreds of billions. A decade later, it’s in the trillions—cloud as the engine. That outcome looks inevitable in hindsight. It wasn’t. Early on, Nadella faced real pushback because “go big on cloud” looked like trading high margins for lower ones. The trap: percent margins ≠ profit dollars. Here’s the math I walk through on The Edge: 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘪𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘴 = 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘯 × 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦 × 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘵 𝘴𝘪𝘻𝘦. A bigger, compounding market can turn a lower margin into more profit - and scale can lift margins over time. What changes the debate: • 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱: 𝗿𝘂𝗻-𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 • 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲-𝗼𝗳𝗳𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱 • 𝗦𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘀 • 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 • 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘂𝘀” If you’re new in the job—or pushing a major shift—this playbook might help you manage skepticism on purpose and trade short-term optics for long-term value. 👉 Full post on The Edge: https://lnkd.in/emzQz7gy #Leadership #Strategy #Cloud #AI #Transformation

Peter Kellner reposted thisPeter Kellner reposted thisOver thousands of hours in the classroom, I have seen two kinds of moments. Sometimes a speaker starts and everyone leans in—you can feel the room focus. Other times, eyes drift and notes come out. What is the difference? It is not just charisma. It is structure. I have distilled the best presentations down to five moves: • 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 (one sentence). • 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 (not twelve). • 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗵 (one proof per reason). • 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 + 𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. • 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗸 (specific). I wrote on The Edge a short, copy-ready guide with templates you can use for your next presentation, all-hands, or board update: https://lnkd.in/eCZcrr5G I’m attaching a short guide with the five building blocks. #Leadership #Communication #PublicSpeaking #Management #TheEdge

Peter Kellner liked thisEndeavor in action🚀 Congratulations to Barry, Samuel, Cúán Greene and the entire Ómós team on this exciting new chapter! #OneEndeavor #EntrepreneurshipPeter Kellner liked thisÓmós There! 🚀 It’s amazing how a conversation in 2020 can shape the years to come. Invited by The Edge and the founding board of Endeavor Ireland, I had the privilege of being the first Irish entrepreneur to help kickstart their vision. That was just the beginning of an incredible chapter. Later that year, I had my now-legendary "second Endeavor conversation" with Samuel Dennigan. What started as a quick chat between founders evolved into a battle-tested friendship forged in the absolute madness of the pandemic. For me scaling Cubic3, and Sam scaling Strong Roots, we watched our plans temporarily fall off a cliff. But in company building, you don't panic you get into the trenches. We leaned on each other, built a war room mentality, dug into the data, and navigated both our companies to incredibly successful outcomes alongside our resilient teams. From Scaling to Steering Fast forward to today, Sam and I have traded daily operational survival for strategic mentorship. Sitting together on the board of Endeavor Ireland , our mission is massive but simple: to 'pay it forward.' We want to enable the next generation of Irish entrepreneurs to be truly global, helping them cut through the corporate noise with the two traits that saved us: razor-sharp focus and unbreakable resilience. But let's be honest, entrepreneurs never really stop building. Our friendship naturally evolved into a formidable partnership. After years of shared meals and travels, Sam introduced me to the incredible Cúán Greene (whose background spans Noma, Geranium, and Bastible). Over a steak at The Butcher Grill, Cúán shared a vision that absolutely blew me away: a destination rooted in deliciousness and sustainability, set in a restored Victorian home in Abbeyleix with a purpose-built contemporary restaurant, a one-acre millpond, and landscaped gardens. An unmatched hospitality experience driven by creativity, respect, and deep connection. In January, we walked through the site to see the textiles, finishes, and layout turning into reality capping off the day watching a perfect pint settle on the bar in Morrissey’s. Friday 26th, sitting at breakfast with Cúán, the Ómós team, and Sam, it hit me: we are doing exactly what we love to do. We are identifying world-class Irish talent and providing the runway to build something spectacular. Well done Cúán and team. Ómós is Here! 🌿 Cúán Greene, Endeavor Ireland, Samuel Dennigan, John Collison, Daire Hickey and The Edge

Peter Kellner liked thisExcited to partner with Robert J. Miller III and the Westway team in building the next generation of SCIF infrastructure to support the missionPeter Kellner liked thisCapitol Meridian Partners (CMP) is pleased to announce the acquisition of Westway Enterprises, the nation's leading independent provider of classified SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) infrastructure. The investment will accelerate Westway's expansion of ICD-705-accredited workspace, broadening access to classified facilities for commercial innovators and non-traditional defense contractors — advancing innovation and capacity across the national security missions Westway supports. "Secure infrastructure has become one of the most constrained and most strategic assets in national security," said Robert J. Miller III, Chief Executive Officer of Westway. "With Capitol Meridian's deep infrastructure experience and world-class team behind us, we can invest ahead of demand and extend our footprint to where the mission lives." "Westway has built something the national security community urgently needs — accredited, mission-ready infrastructure delivered with the highest levels of security, at speed and scale," said Brooke Coburn, Co-Founder of Capitol Meridian. "Accredited secure infrastructure is emerging as a vital new asset class supporting the important work of the defense industrial base (DIB), and Robert and his team have built the platform to lead it. We're excited to partner with them to expand this critical infrastructure across the country's most strategic markets." In connection with the transaction, Tiffanny Gates — a Capitol Meridian Operating Partner and former President and CEO of Novetta — has been named Chair of Westway's Board of Directors. https://lnkd.in/egan2kKcCapitol Meridian Partners Acquires Westway Enterprises, a National Security Infrastructure PlatformCapitol Meridian Partners Acquires Westway Enterprises, a National Security Infrastructure Platform

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their experiences working with Trident. Your confidence in us means a great deal. Most of all, this recognition belongs to our extraordinary team. Peter Kellner liked thisPeter Kellner liked this2 years on from attending my first London Climate Action Week, I've graduated from "attendee" to "speaker". It was a pleasure to join the panel "Valuing the Future: The Next Generation" at Goodenough College and, alongside Kristin Kostka and Dennis West, share my thoughts on transition valuation and what it takes to move organisations from intent to measurable action. We had some great questions and discussion on impact accounting, how to measure those "too difficulty to quantify" outcomes, and the balance between scale and accuracy when applying these methods in practice. Huge thanks to Greenings, RG Sciences (RGS), and Goodenough College for letting me finally take to the stage (or, more accurately, the table).
