Mark S. Babbitt shared thisMastering Workplace Culture Podcast | NEW EPISODE ALERT! As our guest Katelyn Taylor learned first-hand, workplace culture rarely collapses all at once. And it never rebuilds itself. It takes real effort. Effort leaders cannot delegate. What struck me most in our conversation with Katelyn, Director or Marketing and Communication at Boise State University, was how forthcoming she was about the point when she realized the problem wasn’t “workload” or “miscommunication” or any other symptom of corporate dysfunction. Instead, the culture itself was broken. Everything shifted when Katelyn stopped hoping things would improve on their own and started actively leading culture change, including defining what respect, accountability, and healthy behavior actually look like on her team. Once that clarity was in place, the culture reset didn’t feel theoretical — it became daily practice. People who wanted to grow personally and professionally chose to lean in. People who didn’t want anything but the status quo moved on. And the team transformed faster than she expected. It’s a good reminder for leaders: You don’t fix culture by pushing harder — you fix it by caring more. You don’t attack the symptoms — instead, you gain clarity on the root cause. 🎧 You’ll find the full episode of Mastering Workplace Culture on YouTube here: https://lnkd.in/gf64XsTf #MasteringWorkplaceCulture #WorkplaceCulture #Leadership #RespectAndResults #ChangeLeadership #EmployeeExperience 👉 If you’re serious about building a healthier, higher‑performing team, hit LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and drop a comment sharing your biggest culture challenge! She Transformed a Toxic Team Culture — Katelyn Taylor’s Leadership Wake‑Up CallShe Transformed a Toxic Team Culture — Katelyn Taylor’s Leadership Wake‑Up Call

I especially appreciate Chris's passion for workplace culture... which, of course, I gladly discussed! In this episode, we also talked about why I left social media for a bit, what drove me back into online conversations, and why I encourage every executive to use their voice for good — especially in our divisive times. Mark S. Babbitt shared thisNew Episode Alert (just in time for your weekend listening)! MASTERING WORKPLACE CULTURE with GARRY RIDGE! One of the biggest shifts in leadership today: People don’t want managers. Instead, they want coaches. Coaches who care. Coaches who build trust. Coaches who are capable of building mutually beneficial relationships that help us grow professionally and personally. And coaches who hold us accountable — not in some punitive way, but because they want us to be successful. In the newest episode of Mastering Workplace Culture, S. Chris Edmonds and I sat down with Garry Ridge, Chairman Emeritus of The WD-40 Company, to explore the transformation from old‑school management to a coaching‑first mindset — and why this shift is essential for any organization that wants to build a healthy, high‑performing culture. If you’re passionate about leadership, workplace culture, or helping people do the best work of their lives, this conversation is a must‑listen. Mark S. Babbitt shared this"Staying silent just isn't something I can stand right now." I can't tell you how much I appreciate the sincere approach of Robert Pasin, CEO at Radio Flyer, to an issue weighing heavily on the minds of many executives. Do we pretend this isn't happening? Ignore the impact on our people and communities? Or do we speak up? Do we take a stand? As people commenting in Robert's post have made clear (and as we can see and hear all around us), people are somehow taking sides on this moral, purely-human issue. They are justifying crimes on humanity; they're excusing our own government ignoring the elements of the constitution written to protect our personal and civil rights. In my view, there are no "sides." There are no "different perspectives." We shouldn't be making excuses for something deep down we know is immoral. We're either making our people feel safe. Or we're not. We're either ensuring that the doing of good comes first. Or we're not. As always, Robert is choosing good. He is using his voice for good. Robert is a fine example for every one of us. Well done, Sir.Mark S. Babbitt shared thisAs we begin 2026, I’ve been sitting with something that feels heavy and I know I’m not alone. As a leader, it’s hard to know when and how to talk about these things. But pretending this isn’t happening—or that it doesn’t affect the people we work with every day—wouldn’t be right either. I am deeply concerned about the current state of our democracy and developments that place democratic institutions, the rule of law, and long-standing national norms under increasing strain. So, I'm posting here a message I shared with our team at Radio Flyer about the challenging times our country is experiencing right now. I wanted them to know we will continue to care for one another, in a place where people feel safe and supported, at work and beyond.

Mark S. Babbitt shared thisI love it when someone finds their personal servant purpose!Mark S. Babbitt shared thisEvery morning before work, I’d vomit. Not from illness. From dread. Knees pressed to cold tile. Gripping the toilet. Mascara streaked. Fluorescent lights buzzing overhead like a warning. My body screamed what I couldn’t say: I Was Never Built for Corporate This life didn’t fit. From the outside? → Six-figure salary → Corporate clout → Respected title → Polished smile that said “I made it” But inside, I was unraveling. Running on caffeine, adrenaline & silent desperation. That paycheck? Not peace. It was hush money for my intuition. Then in 2009, I was laid off. What should’ve felt like failure? Felt like freedom. It stripped away the mask and forced the question I’d buried: Who am I without the performance? — I Grew Up Watching a Master Be Coached My dad, George F. Burns III, was a PGA Tour pro with 80 Top 10 finishes. I watched him move with grace under pressure. But the real edge? His coach. Steady. Unshakeable. He didn’t fix—he reflected. Even as a kid, I knew: That’s what I’m here to do. — Who I Am Now →Top Coach in America 2025 → PCC through the International Coaching Federation (only 25% of coaches hold this) → TEDx speaker → Podcast host → Trauma-informed strategist → Trained in CBT, DEI & unconscious bias → Educated at Holy Cross, UPenn, Princeton & Case Western → Improv-trained at The Second City If you can lead in chaos, you can lead anywhere. For the past, 16.5 years I’ve helped clients: → Scale from $4K to $132K/month → Grow a payroll firm from $30M to $100M in 9 months → Cut healthcare attrition by 50% in 12 months → Coach leaders at SHRM, Thermo Fisher, Fort Bragg & more — Who I Serve → Biotech, tech & cybersecurity leaders → UHNW families → Military & government execs → Family businesses & founders They look successful. But inside? They’re asking: Is this all there is? — What I Actually Do: → Create psychologically safe spaces → Help leaders name truths they’ve buried → Rewire nervous systems for sustainability → Guide deep, aligned transformation This isn’t life coaching in a blazer. This is executive soul reclamation. — Still Reading? You’re craving more than performance. You’re ready to feel like you. DM me -- Burn baby, burn!

This is what emerged. ------ After Dropping My Son Off at College, I Was Worried About the Wrong Thing “What’s wrong?” my son asked. My eyes were red. Max had seen me cry only twice before: once when I learned that one of my best friends was dying, and once when we dropped his sister off at college in New York three years earlier. I told him I was sad. We were minutes away from saying goodbye. This September, Max was moving 1,906 miles away to Ann Arbor for college, and I was terrified we would lose touch. My wife still talks to her dad on the phone every day, and that has always moved me. But Max and I are not great on the phone. Unlike his sister, he isn’t chatty. Mark S. Babbitt reacted on thisMark S. Babbitt reacted on thisTwenty-five years ago today, I was running a call centre in Canada, our agents dialing into the US. I will never forget the moment it started to unfold. One by one, our agents began pulling off their headsets, or freezing with them still on, because the customers on the other end of the line had stopped talking about whatever the call was about. They were watching the news. Some were crying. Some were screaming. A few just went silent in a way that told you something had broken. We were hundreds of miles away, in another country, and we could feel the floor shift anyway. Because on the other end of every line was a person watching the unthinkable happen to their country, their city, their people. Maybe someone they loved. I'm Canadian by birth. But I've lived and worked in the United States, on and off, for twenty years now. This is my home. And every year on this day, I think about the 2,977 people who didn't come home that morning. The ones who kissed someone goodbye and went to work like it was any other Tuesday. The first responders who ran toward the danger everyone else was running from. The families still carrying the empty chair at the table. But I also think about what came after. Because the loss didn't stop when the towers fell. The illnesses that took first responders and survivors in the years that followed. The grief that reshaped families for a generation. The fear and division that we're still, in ways large and small, living inside of today. The damage of that day didn't end that day. Some of it is still with us. I don't have a clean lesson to draw from it. Some days aren't meant to be wrapped up neatly. This is one of them. What I have is remembrance. For the lives lost that morning, and the ones lost slowly since. For a country that became my home, on one of the hardest days it ever lived through. We say never forget. Today, I simply won't. #NeverForget #September11 #Remembrance #Unstoppable

In this clip from The Purposeful Culture Group's Mastering Workplace Culture podcast, S. Chris Edmonds, Mark S. Babbitt and I talked about what I call Macro and Micro cultures, and how it's leadership's job to communicate, encourage and bridge the two in order for a company culture to truly be authentic. In my experience, when a company and its leaders provide the framework for the macro culture while allowing the team members to shape what that means and looks like, that's when departments really become collaborative and individuals coalesce to become high-performing teams. I'd love to hear about positive (or negative) company culture experiences you've all had and how you managed that. Share away! -- 👉 Hi, I'm Demetrius. In their third Culture Architects duo episode, S. Chris Edmonds and Mark S. Babbitt tackle one of the toughest challenges in leadership and culture transformation. Why do some leaders embrace feedback and grow, while others resist change? And what happens to trust, accountability, and workplace culture when they do? One insight stood out: 💡 Employees notice every gap between stated values and actual behavior. This conversation explores: ✅ Executive coaching ✅ Accountability ✅ Leadership growth ✅ The difficult decision between coaching someone up and coaching someone out When leaders refuse to grow, teams notice. When leaders align their behavior with their values, teams notice that too. That’s where trust is built. Collaboration looks different once you’ve built real authority. When you have platforms, visibility, and access, discernment becomes essential. Not every opportunity is an equal exchange, and not every collaboration is meant to move forward. In Episode 478 of Amplify Your Success podcast, I explore visibility exchange, reciprocity, and why established leaders must evaluate collaboration through a very different lens than they did earlier in their growth. If you’re becoming more intentional about where your energy goes and what you say yes to, this episode will support that clarity. ✨ You’ll find the episode linked below. #AmplifyYourSuccess #AuthorityLeadership #DecisionMaking #CollaborativeGrowth #ThoughtLeadership #BusinessDiscernment #MelanieBenson
