No customer tenants hit, but contact data walked out the door (names, emails, phone numbers, etc). It may sound minor, but that’s the fuel for phishing, vishing, and MFA fatigue campaigns. Attackers don’t need to hack your walls when a phone call works just fine. This is part of a broader wave of attacks (ShinyHunters, Salesforce compromises, and others) targeting CRM ecosystems through social engineering, malicious OAuth apps, and vendor weaknesses. Key Takeaways: *Your SaaS is your soft spot. Third-party vendors are the Achilles’ heel you cannot ignore. *Humans will always click, tap, or trust. Train them anyway (and again, and again…). *Audit your SaaS now. Waiting until after a breach is like buying flood insurance during a hurricane. *Layer defenses. Assume compromise. Build detection. How long did you do software before you decided this? I am asking just because for those of us who graduated in computer science or something like that we don't really have any options unless we want to go back to school or start ground up again.

Like people who stayed up late debugging, building side projects, and learning for the sake of learning. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was real. Now? Too often, it’s become a title grab. A shiny line on LinkedIn. A shortcut to a salary band. People “interested in tech” parachute in, chasing the paycheck and the prestige, but skipping the grind that actually makes you a programmer. They want the hoodie, not the hours. And that shift matters. Because when engineering becomes a status symbol instead of a skill, quality suffers. Teams carry dead weight. Knowledge erodes. The field stops being about solving problems and starts being about optics. We don’t need more “tech workers.” We need builders. Thinkers. People who actually want to write the code, break it, fix it, and learn from it. The title shouldn’t be the goal, the work should be. If you’re in this for the long run, double down on the craft. If you’re just here for the perks, tech will move past you anyway. Jacob Tam liked thisI posted a job on Monday. Within hours I received hundreds of applications. This would normally be a dream, but it's a bit of a nightmare. There are the usual 1-click applies where people don't read the job description and just apply. That covers people who need sponsorships or have no experience in our stack. Simple to weed out. That's maybe 20% of the applications. Then there are the AI generated or manipulated resumes. These are so vast, I am not even sure if there are enough real/good applications to have a relevant percentage. As someone that wants to do right by people looking for a job and, of course, my company, it is extremely difficult with the terrible applications. I don't want to add tons of hoops for people to jump through. I know there are thousands of people applying for every job and only one position. I feel bad for what the bots and bad actors are doing that cause companies to implement rigorous testing to save their employees' valuable time. I am a huge fan of AI/LLMs. I use them every day. I even had ChatGPT help me write the job description. The difference between my use and these applications is responsibility. I review the output and own the results. I don't let the computer hallucinate on my behalf. If you add that you've led the development of the Promenade Dashboard to your resume and have never worked here, your resume will get flagged as "never hire" because it's an outright lie. I get it. The classic advice is to tailor your resume to the job. This is not that. You are overfitting to the job description. We will not hire engineers that don't know how to use tools responsibly. If your resume bolds keywords from the job description, it's a smell that you're not real. If your LinkedIn doesn't have any recommendations and especially if it doesn't have any connections, it's a smell. There are a lot more smells that are obvious, but I'll leave it to you to be a real person. I'm leaving the Senior Software Engineer position up until Monday because I want *real people* to have the chance to see it over the weekend. Thanks to all of you for "keeping it real."
