Danny Briere shared thisXapa Consumer edition launched today. Our students have been beta testing an enterprise version of this software. The problem we are trying to solve is how to find engaging, enjoyable ways for students to learn a lot, when not everything can be in a course or field trip. The key to teaching Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a lot of repetition...telling the students what they need to know, and then repeatedly throwing them into situations where they can practice that knowledge. This includes building some 22 real-life capabilities, like Creative Problem-Solving, Opportunity Recognition and Resilience. But we also need to get them used to being in real-world workplace environments. Personal branding, interpersonal skills training, negotiation skills, etc. We are looking at tools like Xapa as an opportunity to prep students to enter the workforce. A lot of the historical onboarding and mentoring programs in corporate America are in disarray because of AI and HR considerations. SOMEONE needs to teach students how to act in a real job. Moreover, they also need to learn the values and mantra of the company -- for the enterprise client version, which we have been evaluating, we have the ability to insert content about the themes we want students to learn over and above just the skills. My team has been evaluating a lot of tools, especially ones that bring scalability to our programming. How can we capture the knowledge and experience of our amazing alumni base, and expose students to this without flying alumni out to Harford all time? How can students learn "offline?" How can we complement courses and hands-on learning? How can we personalize learning? Xapa is not the only tool in our chest, but we are checking to see if it can be one of the tools that students can use. The focus on real corporate learning, on real application of that learning, and a fun environment to do that in, is what attracts us to their solution. What we have found is that the goal of "5 minutes a day" is great--and some students take to that like superglue. Some students just don't have the personal discipline to regularly do that. If they are used to systemic life processes like going to the gym, or journaling every day, then they are likely to take to this. If they are not so self-disciplined, then not so much. Xapa is a great tool -- I personally took the Communications section twice to build my own skills in that respect. There are many modules that are real-world and pertinent to my own career development. Loved connecting yesterday with Danny Meyer ‘80 as he shared his love for Trinity, its Rome campus, its impact on his and his (alumni) daughter’s lives, and how synchronicity over the years have led him to be one of the leading voices in Hospitality. Can’t wait to read his new book, “What Could Possibly Go Right?” … a 20-year follow-up to his best-seller, “Setting the Table.” Thankful for Danny’s support of our innovation and entrepreneurship efforts at Trinity and look forward to his next trip to campus. Kudos to the TrinTalks team and Dan Lugo for a spectacular launch of this new alumni speaking series—we have a lot of superb alumni to work through!

Working hand-in-hand with our Operations and Power Supply teams, I'll lead how our operating plants buy, store, and deliver energy - meeting our customer contracts while making the most of the markets we participate in. I've spent the past several years on the energy-market and optimization side of Antora's thermal batteries - thinking through how we charge with low-cost electricity and delivering reliable heat and power for our customers. I'm looking forward to putting that work into day-to-day operations across our operating plants!

So many roads keep coming back to having the ability to make sales and grow customers to succeed, and while some companies are reinventing their Sales efforts to be more competitive (e.g., State Farm), at the end of the day, having a massive, trained, and measured distribution network builds something that is desirable and acquirable. Building key skills in Sales, Persuasion and Negotiation is part of our own mantra at the Trinity College-Hartford Elting Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship -- it's one of the most used external skills our students will use their entire life. Danny Briere shared thisSo excited to have experienced a real milestone event this past week when our Tyree Innovation Fellowship (TIF) second-year students presented their end-of-year status of the (ad)ventures they have been working on all year as part of the Entrepreneurship track of the Fellowship. (For those new to TIF, it is a two-year, four-element system that spans Creativity, Invention, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.) For our Elting Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship team at Trinity, it was a special moment because this was the first cohort of the Tyree Innovation Fellowship to experience all the elements built out for the student experience. So we were, for the first time really, seeing success through the eyes of our overall vision that we created with Kathryn George Tyree several years ago. Our goal was to create a program that no other school had, that would develop innovative and entrepreneurial mindsets through hands-on, real-world experiences that culminated with students actually launching their ideas into the market in their second year. From ski masks that keep the moisture off your face, to a campus food delivery service, to a new fintech app for people to split bills, the student ideas were homed in their own lives and translated into real world solutions. From Concept to Market, real-world, real revenues, real deal, real impact. It's all we set out to achieve, and more. Our TIF program graduates were each amazing. Thanks to Kathryn George Tyree for her vision in enabling this as a reality at Trinity College-Hartford. To our students, Elea Aylwin, Katherine Abdallah, Aaleeah Matos. Will Clarkson, Arinze Okigbo, Grace Terrell, Wyck Deery, Fariba Nazanin Shah, Owen Reilly, Jesse Deck, and Joshua Hartman, and their TA Enrico Buoro '26-- you are incredible and we look forward to working with you over the summer and next year to continue your journey. Special thanks to Richard Guha, the Entrepreneurship Academy instructor, for guiding these young minds, and to Monica Roy and Reid Lewis on the assist -- and to the awesome alumni and parents who volunteered their time to mentor, judge, and otherwise support our TIF program -- especially Susanne Wilke, PhD, MBA and Dr. CC- Carolyn Carta, MS, PhD who provided great feedback to students last week during their pitches. Just never quite the room to find each other. NESCAC Entrepreneurship Day at the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship is trying to change that. I was one of 5 students selected to represent Trinity College-Hartford at this year's event: 100 students, 11 teams, one real business problem. The challenge: Merry Go Rounds, a premium children's consignment store in Boston, processes 100,000+ items a year and turns away 40% of them. 40,000 items with nowhere to go. Our solution was Round 2: a tailor partnership program that repairs lightly damaged items for premium resale, paired with the Rebuilt Festival, an annual art show built from unsellable inventory. $106K projected Year 1 revenue. Breakeven by month four. 20,000 items diverted from landfill. Six hours from problem prompt to final pitch. Real constraints, real stakes, real fun. Grateful to have built this with João Ferreira, Nancy Yang, Aurora Ma, Stanford Boateng, and special help from our mentor, Blake Darcy. The conference gave me the chance to learn more about women’s leadership, advocacy, and the different ways women are creating change in their communities. I also had the opportunity to connect with professionals and organizations working across different areas, including civil rights and social impact. One of my favorite parts was meeting so many inspiring people and hearing about their experiences and paths to leadership. I left with new connections, new perspectives, and even more motivated to continue growing as a leader.

Four thousand and eighteen mornings of waking up and remembering. No one teaches a father this arithmetic. How to subtract a son And still have something left. I ache for what I lost. A laugh that filled the room. A bear hug that made you feel loved. The sound of his car pulling out of the driveway, something I never once thought to listen to. What I cannot hold is everything I never got. Did he finish nursing school? Is he working nights on some hospital floor, the nurse the patients ask for by name because he knew what struggle felt like and never made anyone feel small for theirs? Does he still head for the woods with his cousins for a hunting trip when the leaves turn and the air goes cold? Did he marry? Is there a small voice in his house that calls me Chief? Would he call me for advice? Would I call him for mine? Has gray come into his hair the way it came into mine? What does his voice sound like at thirty-seven? I only know it at twenty-six, so I hold to that. Every question is a door. I stand at each one. None of them open. This is the part people don’t see. I did not only lose the son I had. I lose the man he would have been. Again. Every year. A little more of a life that never got lived. And in the dark, the other questions come. What if I had known. What if I had said one more thing. What if a father’s love could have been enough. It is early morning. The house is quiet. I cannot sleep. Time has not healed this. It has only made it older. I don’t need the answers anymore. I only wish I could watch him live them. I miss you, son. Loving you across the abyss… Dad

The mission involved students at Universities across the globe, including Duke, MIT, Georgia Tech, Stanford, Florida Institute of Technology, Embry Riddle, UConn, and others. The STEMIE Coalition exited to The Henry Ford in 2018.
