How do I choose an engagement ring?
Choosing an engagement ring can be a daunting task. Before you start shopping for an engagement ring for your partner, it’s worth familiarising yourself with the 4Cs: Colour, Clarity, Cut and Carat Weight, and the different shapes and cut styles of diamonds.
Once you’ve done your initial research, start by looking at the jewellery that your partner already wears.
How much should I spend on an engagement ring?
The amount you spend on an engagement ring depends on your unique circumstances. There is no “right” amount; you should not feel pressured to spend a minimum (or maximum) amount to find the right ring. The old salary threshold per income limit is rarely used today. Instead, you should find a ring that you and your partner love and start saving for that ring.
The cost of engagement rings at GS Diamonds ranges from a few thousand dollars up to tens of thousands of dollars, so there is more than enough choice to suit every budget. How long does it take to make a custom engagement ring?
It takes approximately 4-8 weeks to design, create, and deliver a bespoke engagement ring from the moment that you place an order. We offer a range of custom and off-the-shelf engagement ring options. If you’re looking for something custom, we always recommend leaving at least 2 months for our team to create your perfect bespoke engagement ring.
Should I get a lab-grown or natural diamond?
Lab-grown and natural diamonds are chemically identical stones made in completely different ways. Our natural diamonds are mined from ethical diamond sites and graded against the GIA quality standards. On the other hand, our range of lab-grown diamonds are created in a lab that mimics the same natural process that forms diamonds in the earth’s crust.
Lab-grown diamonds are much more cost-effective than natural diamonds. As a rule of thumb, an equivalent lab-grown diamond of the same quality and size is around 75% cheaper than its natural diamond counterpart.
Choosing between lab-grown and natural ultimately depends on your and your partner’s preferences. If you’re looking for a traditional stone – then go with natural. If you’re looking for the best value stone and want to buy a bigger, higher-quality diamond for a fraction of the price of a natural diamond, then go for lab-grown.
How do I find my size for an engagement ring?
The easiest way to measure the size of an engagement ring is to take a piece of string, wrap it around your wedding ring finger, and then measure that string length. The number you get will be the most feasible size, which you can measure against a ring conversion table.
If you want to find out your partner’s ring size subtly, it’s a good idea to look at any rings they already wear on their engagement ring finger and work out the size from there. Remember, we can always resize your ring, so even if you don’t get it right the first time, we can still resize it to suit your partner’s finger size.
Can men wear engagement rings?
