The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is currently accepting applications for certified and non-certified police officers. GPD provides the City of Gainesville with emergency and non-emergency services 24 hours a day to more than 40,000 residents and an estimated 150,000 visitors daily. Our jurisdiction covers approximately 40 square miles and includes residences and apartment complexes; businesses and industrial parks; recreational facilities, including parks on and around Lake Lanier; several golf courses, schools, churches, an airport, shopping centers and numerous strip malls. GPD is a multi-faceted professional public safety organization serving a fast-paced, multicultural and rapidly growing community.

At this time, the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is accepting applications for certified and non-certified police officers.

Apply now and your starting salary could be $57,897.84 (base) + 10 paid holidays ($2,120.80) = $60,018.64 (certified).

Higher pay is awarded based on qualifications. In addition, GPD officers get a take-home vehicle; all uniforms, equipment and weapons needed; plus the necessary training to better serve the City of Gainesville.

CERTIFICATION % INCREASE
Intermediate Certification = 3.3% pay increase
Advanced Certification = 3.3% pay increase
