I've arrived in Helsinki for Pocket Gamer Connects Nordics, my first conference with Raptor PR and my first in the gaming industry. I’m looking forward to meeting journalists I've only chatted to over email so far, as well as learning more about the issues our clients are facing from the people dealing with them every day. If you're here and fancy a chat, drop me a message.

Back in the early ’80s, being a gamer certainly wasn’t cool. At all. Growing up in Wales as a Gen X kid, you were supposed to love footy or rugby. Instead, I spent much of my childhood glued to a ZX Spectrum, devouring monthly gaming magazines like Crash, CVG and Sinclair User. Thus began a lifelong fascination with gaming and media. From Manic Miner to GTA VI, analogue media to today’s hyper-fragmented digital ecosystems, and from loading games off cassette tapes to exploring photorealistic open worlds, I’ve witnessed a bewildering amount of change. Not just in the games themselves, but in the technology, businesses, people and media ecosystems that have shaped the industry along the way. Which brings me to today. After more than 25 years working across technology, media and gaming, I now have the privilege of advising some of the world’s leading companies operating at the intersection of gaming, advertising and technology. Tis funny how something that made you an oddball at school can end up defining your entire career 🕹️

Welcome to Jurassic Perk. 🦖🎮 At Raptor PR, we believe in keeping our raptors well-fed, entertained & happy. So, every raptor will be getting their claws on a free copy of GTA VI 🥳 ❤️ We're gamers at heart, and I firmly believe that working in the games industry should come with a few perks beyond the usual agency benefits. That also includes international travel, which is very much a prerequisite for these 2 roles, as we regularly send our raptors ‘round the globe to attend industry conferences, meet clients, build relationships and generally immerse themselves in the global games industry. From London to Cologne, Barcelona, Helsinki and Silicon Valley, theres a fair bit of globe-trotting involved. 🌎 We're currently hiring an Account Director and an Account Manager, so if you're working in B2B tech PR in central London, love the idea of international travel and quite fancy joining a nerdy bunch of B2B games industry comms pros working with some cracking global brands across gaming, tech and advertising, then DM me in confidence. #prjobs #prjob

Our Account Manager Joshua's route into gaming comms began in an unusual place. Aged 15 he was hunting for bundles and discounts on Fanatical and Humble, which left him with a library of 800+ games and most of them unplayed. Along the way he became lead moderator of the r/humblebundles subreddit, growing it from 30k to 80k subscribers, and picked up how Steam key sales, regional pricing and the grey market works. That knowledge has come full circle on client work with Rokky and Ultra, including Rokky’s PC Game Distribution report, which received coverage throughout the business and tech press, prompted a response from Gabe Newell in Bloomberg, and set off a viral conversation on Reddit. Joshua’s take is that a team of lifelong gamers gives clients a real strategic edge, because we understand how game companies serve their players and how the B2B tech underneath serves that whole ecosystem. If you have a similar story, and are usually found with a controller in hand, we’re hiring! If you're an AM or AD with mid-to-large agency experience, send your CV (and favourite game) to hello@raptorpr.com. Read Joshua’s full story: https://lnkd.in/ebV6uqQV

The next generation of Raptors are travelling the world 🦖🌍 Next up, our Senior Account Executive Sophia Hollis is attending her very first games industry conference, Pocket Gamer Connects Nordics next week, followed by Account Manager Joshua Callaghan and me heading off to Silicon Valley for GamesBeat Next. Over the past five years, Raptor PR has proudly carved out a reputation as the leading B2B communications and PR force in the global games industry, spanning mobile, PC and console ecosystems, as well as the increasingly important intersection of gaming, advertising and technology. And were growing! Were looking for an Account Director and Account Manager who bloody love the games industry and want to help shape the next chapter of Raptor PR. You'll likely be working at a medium-to-large London B2B tech PR agency across sectors such as adtech, fintech, AI or other emerging technologies, with the ambition to apply your experience to one of the worlds most dynamic industries. Both both roles, integrated skillsets are a pre-requisite, cos were doing oodles of stuff beyond traditional media relations, from content marketing and executive LinkedIn profiling to research-led campaigns, events and webinars. Were building out the team around a high-performance agency culture that operates at the intersection of innovation, deep subject matter expertise and strategic communications consultancy. We're big believers in getting our people out into the industry, building their own networks and developing their expertise alongside the agency, because thats how we grow both our people and our reputation. If this sounds like your next move, drop director Thomas Huxter a line 🦖 #prjobs #prjob
