In the UK, one in three employers have cut entry-level jobs in the past year, with AI a key driver (Work Foundation / Survation). McKinsey reports that 51% of organisations say automation is reducing their need for entry-level roles. Cutting junior hires might look smart on a spreadsheet today, but it's short-term gain, long-term pain. No juniors now means no experienced leaders later, and fewer people inside your company who question outdated ways of working. I wrote about why corporates cutting entry-level roles will regret it in the UK publication Workplace Journal 👇

Eric Francia har gillat dettaEric Francia har gillat dettaI hosted my first ever HACKATHON! 🤠 It all started with me saying "we should host a hackathon". Then everyone said immediately YES!, and suddenly I had under a month to make it real. No date, no venue, no partners, no participants. Just the sentence and a deadline. I spent that month doing things I had never done before. Cold-emailing companies I assumed were too big to answer. Asking people I'd never met to sit on a jury. Putting up posters and doing whatever guerrilla marketing I could think of. My biggest worry was that nobody would sign up. Then we got featured on Luma 's featured events page, Women In Tech Sweden got behind it and we ended up with amazing sponsors and my inbox exploded. We ended up with well over three times as many applications as I'd dared to hope for, now an entirely different problem, and a much better one. On Monday 28th there were 11 teams in a room at Eidra . 12 hours later, every single one of them had built a playable game. With that said : Thanks to Uniplay for giving me the opportunity and to the amazing people who attended, it was a true pleasure of having you with us! And of course thanks to our sponsors Lovable , Talentium , Red Bull and ZenRobot . Eric Francia har gillat dettaEric Francia har gillat dettaWOW.. Monday was the Uniplay Hackathon. Eight hours to build a game that teaches something and runs on a phone. What stays with us isn't only the games. It's that 11 separate teams ended up feeling like one. We met people with brilliant minds who showed up early and stayed late, and we're grateful for every single one of them. When a day goes this well it becomes addictive. This was Uniplay's first hackathon, and we're already dreaming about the next one. BIG congratulations to the winners of Uniplay Hackathon 2026, Yunfei Yu and Patrik Omari, who won with Teamdex. It turns meeting your new team into a card-collecting game: you collect colleagues' cards through face-to-face conversations, learning how the company is structured as you go, while HR follows each newcomer's progress. We're impressed by everything that got built, but just as much by how people worked. Having that many creative minds in one room is an experience in itself. A big thank you to our jury Gabriella Kalteneckar, Evgenii Kondratev and Linus Blomberg who showed up and put their heads together for a genuinely hard decision. 👏 And thank you to our sponsors Talentium, Red Bull, ZenRobot and Lovable.
