As a longstanding Nintendo fan, this was a really cool moment -- Miyamoto-san was recently selected for Japan's Order of Culture. During the press conference he made time to give a shoutout to our game, Pikmin Bloom. Translated from original Japanese below: "We're working with a variety of companies, and recently we've been particularly focused on Pikmin. Nintendo is involved in the development, but the company providing it is not Nintendo. We've been working with Scopely Explore (formerly Niantic) for a long time. We're working together because Nintendo characters have the potential to expand in many ways even when using mobile devices like that. Please look forward to it." https://lnkd.in/gjzQFt_V

What happens when budding game designers meet our blind and partially sighted gamers for a 48-hour game jam? Games that everyone can play! This weekend, we partnered with games company Scopely, to invite students from Abertay University to take part in a game jam by building playable games with accessibility baked in from the very first idea. Our blind and partially sighted gamer volunteers were on hand throughout, playtesting early builds and giving designers feedback in real time. The winning game, Sixth Sense, is a two-player co-op puzzle with a twist: one player can see and guides their partner, who navigates by directional audio alone. Neither has the full picture, so it’s all about listening, talking and trust. Our research shows only 15 per cent of game developers feel they understand the needs of blind and partially sighted players so we're delighted that events like this are helping to change that. Huge thanks, and well done, to everyone who took part! Play all the games: https://lnkd.in/eRQf7sDi [Image descriptions: 1. VI gamer Kellie tests a game while sat at a desk, using a controller. 2.
