The easier it becomes to create, the more important it becomes to decide what NOT to create. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been experimenting a lot with AI. I’ve built visual concepts, internal tools, product prototypes, business ideas, production systems… things that not long ago would have taken weeks of work or required a small team. And there’s something about this that keeps coming back to me: The bottleneck is no longer necessarily execution. It’s becoming easier and easier to go from: “I have an idea.” to “I have something I can see, test or show.” And that changes the rules. When creating was expensive, cost itself forced us to filter ideas. Now you can have 20 ideas in the morning and 10 prototypes by the afternoon. But that doesn’t mean you have 10 good opportunities. If anything, it means we need to become much better at saying no. Lately, I’ve been trying to apply a simple logic to almost everything I build: Problem → Evidence → Opportunity → Prototype → Validation → Production And one part of that chain is becoming more important to me every day: Evidence before excitement. Just because something is technically possible doesn’t mean anyone needs it. Just because we can prototype it in an afternoon doesn’t mean we should turn it into a product. And just because AI can generate a hundred possibilities doesn’t mean those possibilities have value. Maybe one of the most important skills in this new era isn’t generating more. Maybe it’s developing enough judgment to say: “This isn’t worth pursuing.” AI is dramatically reducing the cost of creation. Now we need to learn how to reduce the cost of being wrong. And I think there’s a huge opportunity for those who learn how to combine speed with judgment. Something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. More soon. 🐙 #AI #Entrepreneurship #Innovation #ProductDevelopment

Ok that's an off-hiring topic one and a bit more personal from a long time gamer point of view. Now that the Summer Game Fest conferences have all wrapped up, I feel that we'll be serve some pretty amazing titles in the next 2-3 years 🤩 . As someone who grew up within the golden age of PS, Sega and Nintendo seeing old IPs like Spyro, Crazy Taxi or Tomb Raider coming back brings back so many memories and nostalgia and that's feels amazing. Not even mentioning Capcom continuing to unroll their red carpet with remakes and new titles. The made in Japan is coming back extremely strong between them, Konami and SQEX ready to conclude a dream started 11 years ago (FF will always be my 1st and strongest love). But from a slightly broader perspective the entire Asian gaming market continue to surge from both China and South Korea with Shift Up blowing us away with Stellar Blade next title. Not much more needed than that imo, it feels good to see single player narrative games back on the menu !!! We'll be eating very good for a while 🎮

I have a genuine curiosity for those who have worked on #hiring teams and my #recruiter friends in my network. What ever happened to requiring a list of references? I've been on the job hunt for nearly 8 months now, and before this period I hadn't needed to submit an official application for 7 years. One thing I remember being a pivotal piece of the application process was including a list of references; a list of those individuals who could vouch for your experience and worth. In all the instances of submitting applications and speaking with recruiters, only twice have I been asked for a list of references during these last 8 months. Did the practice not prove valuable enough? Were a lot of candidates abusing the system and using fake references? Was contacting each reference taking up too much time? Is it more reassuring to have everything one needs to know on a CV (is that possible?)? I'm honestly just curious. Thanks to those who can respond.

“Stoked”, “humbled”, “thrilled”, and all those other LinkedIn words fall short when trying to describe the experience of working at Scopely. Turns out, building great games with great people is hard to beat.

As consolidation reshapes our industry, the winners will be those who think deeply on cultural fit and alignment. We didn’t want to change what made the Niantic games business special — we wanted to fuel it, accelerate it and bring that community-driven vision to even more players worldwide. Now, almost a year post-acquisition, I chatted with President, Games Ed Wu and Goldman Sachs Hemal Thaker about the wins, insights and surprises along the way. Onto the next milestone. Let’s go!!
