"The past is written, but the future is left for us to write." - Jean-Luc Picard We're joining the Star Trek Fleet Command team and the entire #StarTrek community in mourning the passing of Sir Patrick Stewart. Sir Patrick's distinguished career spanned more than six decades across theatre, film and television. He brought intelligence, humanity and unmistakable presence to every role. As Captain Jean-Luc Picard, he became one of Star Trek's defining figures, carrying forward the legacy of the original crew while charting a new course for "The Next Generation." Across "The Next Generation," its feature films and "Star Trek: Picard," he portrayed a captain guided by compassion, curiosity, diplomacy and a faith in a better future, qualities that made him beloved by generations of fans. To honor his contributions to Star Trek and Jean-Luc Picard's enduring influence across generations, Star Trek Fleet Command players will receive full unlocks for every Picard Officer and Dixon Hill, totaling four Epic Officers and two Rare Officers, along with the Epic "Sky’s the Limit" Title. As a longstanding Nintendo fan, this was a really cool moment -- Miyamoto-san was recently selected for Japan's Order of Culture. During the press conference he made time to give a shoutout to our game, Pikmin Bloom. Translated from original Japanese below: "We're working with a variety of companies, and recently we've been particularly focused on Pikmin. Nintendo is involved in the development, but the company providing it is not Nintendo. We've been working with Scopely Explore (formerly Niantic) for a long time. We're working together because Nintendo characters have the potential to expand in many ways even when using mobile devices like that. Please look forward to it." https://lnkd.in/gjzQFt_V

Congratulations to Scopely's Ed Wu, a finalist for GamesBeat’s inaugural Mobile Innovator Award, celebrating leaders pushing the boundaries of mobile game development, design, technology and strategy. 👏 Ed was the original engineer and technical director of the founding group who built Pokémon GO in 2015, helping build a game that changed how the world plays and explores. Today, as President of Games leading our Scopely Explore team, Ed brings that same vision to #PokemonGO, #PikminBloom and #MonsterHunterNow, inspiring players to discover and connect with each other. What happens when budding game designers meet our blind and partially sighted gamers for a 48-hour game jam? Games that everyone can play! This weekend, we partnered with games company Scopely, to invite students from Abertay University to take part in a game jam by building playable games with accessibility baked in from the very first idea. Our blind and partially sighted gamer volunteers were on hand throughout, playtesting early builds and giving designers feedback in real time. The winning game, Sixth Sense, is a two-player co-op puzzle with a twist: one player can see and guides their partner, who navigates by directional audio alone. Neither has the full picture, so it’s all about listening, talking and trust. Our research shows only 15 per cent of game developers feel they understand the needs of blind and partially sighted players so we're delighted that events like this are helping to change that. Huge thanks, and well done, to everyone who took part! Play all the games: https://lnkd.in/eRQf7sDi [Image descriptions: 1. VI gamer Kellie tests a game while sat at a desk, using a controller. 2.
