Humanizing science
to benefit us all
Come together, listen, and share.

Welcome to the Civic Science Collective (CSC)
The CSC works to create a more inclusive climate for public participation in science. Through research, education, and practice, we foster equitable and trustworthy relationships between scientists and communities to build diverse teams tackling shared challenges.
What is Civic Science?
Civic Science is a national movement seeking to meet the need for scientists and citizens to become more engaged in science issues they care deeply about. The CSC works collectively to make this possible through these five principles:

What we Do
Studying how dialogues about COVID-19 vaccination build trust in Boston’s Dorchester
Building positive mental health through dialogues among immigrant women
Equipping undergraduate students to lead campus-wide dialogues on reproductive justice and gender identity
What we are Building Together
The Civic Science Collective offers skills training, evidence-based practices, research strategies, public science forums, classroom learning, community dialogues, and more. These programs foster a culture of listening, inclusion, and equity, helping scientists and the public to engage more fully to benefit from science and innovation.

Share your Story
Civic Science is grounded on the principle that we hold collective accountability to innovate science that is “from the community, for the community.” Therefore, sharing your story about your relationship to science and the impact it has on your personal and professional life is central to this mission.
