Things traders say that sound insane to everyone else. "I blew my account." "I got funded." "I sat on my hands all day." "Clean setup, bad execution." Try explaining any of that at a family dinner. You will lose them at "blew."

The strange part of this job is that people tell me things they would never tell their friends. Not because I am special. Because I am the only person they know who understands what a drawdown actually feels like.

How I explain my job depending on who asks. To my mom: "He works in finance." To my grandma: "Something with computers." To a dinner party: "Financial technology." To people in the industry: the real answer. Three years in and I still do not have one clean sentence.
