At DiMera, an injured George (Michael Rose) stumbled out of the lab. Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) called 911 and helped Xander (Paul Telfer). Sarah pleaded with Xander to stay with her, especially for Victoria (Angelica Nero). Xander flashed back to his life with Sarah as he faded in and out of consciousness. Javi (Jacob Martinez) showed up to help. EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) found George in the hallway, then left him to die after he learned he didn't have the laptop. Shawn (Brandon Beemer) found George. When EJ returned to the DiMera mansion, Sydney (Sydney Malakeh) asked why he missed their dinner. EJ covered with a hug but noticed blood on his sleeve. Shawn showed up wanting answers about Steve (Stephen Nichols) and George. EJ admitted to being at George's house. Then he threw George under the bus for the Coriseal situation. Shawn didn't buy it. Alone, EJ burned his shirt. Sydney began to question EJ's innocence. She informed Marlena (Deidre Hall) that Dante (Franco LoPresti) got Dominic's (Kyle Pryor) phone number. At the hospital, Leo (Greg Rikaart) told Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Marlena about the shooting at DiMera, which he heard about on the police scanner. Brady yelled at Leo for looking for a story, fearing for Sarah. Marlena defended Leo. They watched Xander being rushed to surgery, with Sarah begging Xander to be okay. Javi told Leo things were not looking good for Xander. Jada (Elia Cantu) questioned Sarah about the shooting. Sarah broke down, sharing what George had done and how Xander had saved her. Later, Sarah informed Brady, Marlena, and Leo that Xander survived the surgery but was critical. Brady found out Xander took the bullet for Sarah. Sarah sat by Xander's bedside, holding his hand, crying for him to be okay and declaring her love for him. Brady looked through a window at her.

Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) and Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) waited at the hospital for news on Xander. Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) came to support Philip. When Philip went to visit Xander, Maggie expressed her gratitude to Gabi for helping to save Titan and the estate, and shared her happiness that Philip and Gabi were together again. Philip broke down at Xander's bedside. He listed all the reasons for his brother to wake up. Calling him his best friend, Philip cried and screamed at Xander to open his eyes. Maggie walked in to sit with Xander. After Philip left, Maggie tearfully thanked him for saving Sarah and admitted he was a changed man. She forgave Xander for his past mistakes and said she loved him. At the mansion, Philip leaned on Gabi, recalling how he hated that Victor (John Aniston) left Titan to Xander and the anger he had toward his brother. Holly (Ashley Puzemis) trained with Mason (Brandon Butler) for the helpline. Sophia (Rachel Boyd) called but said her name was Amelia. After helping her, Mason and Holly admitted the voice sounded like Sophia's. Tate (Leo Howard) ran into Marlena at the pub. Marlena told him about Xander. Tate saw Holly and Mason coming out of the latter's room after training. It was awkward. Lani (Sal Stowers) recognized Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) in Horton Town Square. In the park, Kristen spilled everything to Lani about what she did to Johnny (Carson Boatman) because of EJ. Lani was appalled but admitted Kristen likely wouldn't be charged with a crime since Sophia was dead. They hugged. Lani declared Kristen has suffered enough, and so had Rachel (Lorelei Olivia Mote). Kristen wished Lani a lifetime of happiness. Lani hoped Kristen could return to Salem one day and reunite with her daughter. They said goodbye. Marlena called Dominic, reached his voicemail, and left him a message.

Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) told Stephanie (Abigail Klein) that Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins) had feeling in her legs. Stephanie marveled at the timing, since Kayla had planned to run a test on Joy to prove she was faking. Alex showed Stephanie the ladybug Halloween costume he got for Kelsey (Lena and Mira Chase). At the Kiriakis estate, Joy told Kelsey she only had to fake not walking for a little while longer until Alex left Stephanie. Tate arrived for their training session. Joy flirted with him, especially when Alex walked in. Leo informed Gwen (Emily O'Brien) that Xander was shot and his reunion with Javi. Gwen got emotional over both and cried. Leo comforted her. Gwen revealed her hope to find true love someday but feared she would end up a spinster. Cat (AnnaLynne McCord) turned to Steve for help with Dominic's birth certificate. Steve issued Cat another warning about EJ but also gave her a picture of the birth certificate. EJ found Johnny at DiMera, looking over the crime scene. The gloves came off for the father-son duo. EJ hurled insults and reminded Johnny of everything he did for him, including giving him a seat at the table. Anger built up in EJ as he called out Johnny for turning on him. EJ insisted Johnny liked the DiMera money but not the way it was made. Then EJ informed his son that he was done with him. Johnny stood his ground against his father, hitting him where it hurt by reminding EJ that Johnny has a wife and kids who love him. The young DiMera unleashed on his father about what real integrity was and how EJ had none. Johnny declared he would not allow the DiMera curse to impact his children and told EJ he was done with him forever. Stephanie consoled Johnny, while EJ found comfort in Cat, who showed him Dominic's birth certificate. EJ learned the ISA had George's laptop.

Johnny and Chanel (Raven Bowens) discussed what happened with EJ. Chanel was thrilled that EJ was out of their lives. Johnny was still hurt. The mood changed when Kayla called with the news that Chanel's scans showed no signs of cancer. Johnny and Chanel celebrated. Xander woke up with Sarah holding his hand. Sarah kissed his hand as Xander remembered being shot. She texted Kayla, who was with Brady, the good news. Sarah cried and kissed Xander before she left so that Kayla could examine him. Brady informed Sarah that he assumed she and Victoria would be moving back to the Kiriakis mansion and said he was okay with it. Jada and Shawn interrupted them. When they learned Xander was awake, Jada went to question him, while Shawn spoke with Sarah. Shawn wanted answers about where Xander got the unregistered gun. Sarah didn't answer him. She reminded Shawn that Xander saved her life. Jada put Xander in the hot seat over his unlicensed gun. Xander insisted it was the only way to get the laptop, which they did. Jada seemed to be looking to blame Xander for something, and it didn't go unnoticed by him. Brady ended things with Sarah after he revealed that he could see her true feelings for Xander. Sarah was shocked when Brady told her he was setting her free. Sarah promised to have Xander's back no matter what after he shared that Jada appeared to be gearing up to charge him with a crime.
