How it works in six steps

  1. Discovery
Experts evaluate goals, consumption profile, roof or ground opportunities, and grid context.
  2. Bespoke proposal
A site‑specific design and a fixed per kWh offer, showing cost and CO2 savings.
  3. Design and consents
Detailed engineering, planning, and required permissions handled for you.
  4. Build scheduling
Works planned around your operations to minimise disruption.
  5. Commissioning and performance tests
    On‑site validation, then handover.
  6. Care, monitoring, and reporting
Live performance portal and app, proactive maintenance, and carbon reporting.

What to consider

  • Returns profile
Service agreements deliver consistent near‑term returns. Outright purchase may show higher returns later, but only after a lengthy capex payback period.
  • Property and roof works
Roof repairs and related costs can be folded into the agreement, avoiding extra capital expenditure.
  • Loan or sale flexibility
Agreements can be transferred to a new owner or taken into direct ownership if the site is sold.
  • Landlord engagement
We routinely work with landlords to improve asset value and CO2 performance, aligning benefits for both parties.

What exactly is Solar as a Service?
A long‑term renewable energy agreement. UrbanVolt builds and operates a solar array at your site. You buy the electricity generated at a fixed price per kWh for up to 25 or 30 years. You get the power, UrbanVolt takes care of everything else.
Is there a minimum off‑take?
No. You pay only for the power you consume from the on‑site array.
Will servicing costs increase over time?
No. Lifetime servicing and repairs are included and priced into the fixed rate.
What happens at the end of the contract?
UrbanVolt can transfer ownership for a negligible residual value or extend management at a reduced rate. Terms vary by agreement length.
Does the rate increase over time?
No. The per kWh rate is fixed for the full duration of the contract.
What if we move or sell the property?
Agreements are transferable to a new owner or tenant, subject to standard checks. There is also a facility to take full ownership.
How quickly can we go live?
Typical timeline from signature to turn‑key is around three months, subject to site specifics.
What quality of components do you use?
UrbanVolt uses investment‑grade equipment from ethical sources, designed for longevity and peak performance.

Results you can expect

  • Lower energy price for daytime operations, typically 30 to 50 percent below retail.
  • Reduced reliance on volatile grid prices, with fixed costs for the contract term.
  • Immediate cost and carbon savings, reported and auditable for ESG and supply‑chain tendering.
  • Ongoing optimisation and proactive maintenance without internal burden.

Dave Bryan

Utility Bidder takes all the hassle out of sorting through the mine field of service providers and provides a professional and time efficient way of securing a competitive price for my energy needs.

Kenneth Wooding

Having previously spoken with a rival broker whose consultants I felt were pressuring me into signing a contract immediately, Kirsty Schofield was a breath of air. She found a cheaper and shorter contract to suit my needs and was very friendly and efficient. She made renewing my energy contract a pleasant experience instead of a dreaded chore.”

Steph Howes

First class service from Sarah at Utility Bidder, I have been with them for a couple of years now and wouldn’t go elsewhere and would certainly recommend.
