In all fairness, the things which "the novel only alludes to" are the very best parts of the novel! Frank Herbert dreamed up a great story, but he was not a great writer. Many of the coolest things in the book are not directly portrayed, but are instead narrated later in conversations between, say, Stilgar and the Ghola. "Wow, can you believe that amazing thing that just happened?" That does sound amazing. I would have liked to see it for myself...
