I've said for so long, they want to so badly be a mega franchise (they just recently said like Minecraft or Fortnight) to attract as many people as possible but they've had 30 years to become a multiplatform franchise. The fact they fumbled not making movies, tv shows, video games, animes, books, comics (the last two they have, successfully but stopped for some reason) is beyond me. They could've been the next Marvel or DC but they dropped that ball at every turn and now they're stuck trying to use everyone elses IP while theirs gets watered down and tossed to the side. It's so sad, especially as someone who really really was invested in the story and lore of magics world

Literally everything you said 100%. We've seen with every set the last couple of years, every product line is getting sold out and resold for double or triple the price. My LGS started buying Secret Lairs in massive quantities just to resell them for literally triple the price. My brother in law couldn't get any FF stuff except a couple packs because there was literally none in our area, while FB marketplace was litered with sealed product not being sold because it was marked way up. It will eventually kill the game and they don't care as long as they can sell a shiny new object to whoever wants it, as long as it's not the actual community that cares

Look, I'm not here to yuck someones yum. I also really love seeing my friends get so enthusiastic about IPs they love being in magic (seeing my buddys face light up when telling us all the warhammer lore while we played the decks was an awesome feeling I'll be completely honest) but UB could and should be handled way better. Final Fantasy, the largest magic set of all time, was handled horribly. My brother in law, a massice FF fa, couldn't get a single product besides a couple packs that were double msrp because the roll out was awful, there was way too little printed up front, and (while genuinely excited people were buying product) scalpers were buying a LOT of the inventory to resell to people excited about it, causing prices to skyrocket and availability to aboslutely plunge. You say it brings new people in droves but those people don't stay. Hasbro and wotc did an internal study (and you can see just based on events) people are buying these products as shiny objects to collect and display but they are not staying, and magics *average* player age is 35, so these kids aren't staying in the game. If handled correctly UB can be a massive boon, but it needs to NOT be a cashgrab hat set just to sell to an untapped demographic. It needs to have real attention and care put into the cards and design or it'll be no better than whatever gimmick IU set they come up with next. As someone who absolutely despised UB for a long time, I've come to accept it will not be going anywhere and being hateful towards it means being unhappy with a game I've invested almost 20 years into and I refuse to hate the game. At some point the cards stop looking or feeling like Universes Beyond, but ONLY if they play like magic. To me, that is what's most important. However, I can't escape the feeling they're using UB as a quick money making scheme and are not thinking about the longevity of the oldest TCG, while the average player is stuck paying absorbitant prices for execs to get their bonus

BillyOceansBlues how you feel and how others feel are two very different things. Movies are just one look into someone elses experiences, just like two people playing the same game are going to have different experiences. You may not have the same reaction to the backrooms as Chiwetel but I may, so his performance in this movie will speak to me a lot more. No one is trying to tell you how to feel or react, they're simply showing you how this person/these people do. This review even says the people in the movie have different reactions, with Chiwetel and the other guy reacting with manic excitement and the lady employee reacting with anxiety.

They didn't say they didn't enjoy the other movies. They said they think this is the best one since. Those two feelings are not mutually exclusive. You can still enjoy something while believing something is better than them.
