We need to decide what we want from remakes
Remakes don't have to be 1:1, or purely faithful. I don't think they're even considered by devs in such a way as to make faithfulness THE defining characteristic, anymore. Hence why they're blurred with reimaginings -- and also why fans consider these two words to ONLY be different, producing only different results. (They do not; a reimagining is but one classification of a remake).

Unlike a video game, original TTRPGs are only limited by the imaginations of their participants. However, bc people cannot read each others' minds nor foresee all outcomes -- no matter how they may try to corral the list of possibilities per point of interaction -- the wisest most energy-efficient means for a DM is to systemize their adaptability to the unpredictable nature of their group's dynamics.
