What is the MS NOW Community?

The MS NOW Community is a Member-exclusive space where you can connect with people who care as much about democracy as you do. Connect with fellow Members to discuss today’s biggest issues, exchange perspectives, ask thoughtful questions, and make sense of the news together. Whether we’re talking about politics or reflecting on shared life experiences, we are in it together.

How does MS NOW moderate the community?

MS NOW moderates community content through a combination of automated review and human moderation. Automated tools conduct a first pass review against our guidelines and flag content that may be in violation before it posts. All flagged content — whether by automated tools or member reports — is reviewed by human moderators, who make final removal decisions.

Who can participate in the MS NOW community?

MS NOW community features are available to our paid members. This is a deliberate choice to raise the quality of conversation and maintain a community worthy of membership. Current features include article comments, discussion forums, and live Q&As.

How do I report content that violates the guidelines?

To report a comment that violates these guidelines, use the flag icon adjacent to the content. MS NOW does not share details of individual moderation decisions, but we review every report and act on violations.

Who's posting, and what do the badges mean?

MS NOW journalists and editorial staff are encouraged to participate in community discussions, adding context, answering questions, and engaging with the perspectives of our members. When staff participate, they are identified by their name and a verified MS NOW badge. They are held to the same conduct standards as all members.

What's not allowed in the MS NOW community?

The following is prohibited across all MS NOW community features, including personal attacks and harassment, coordinated or bad-faith participation, misinformation, and spam or commercial content. Violations are subject to enforcement up to and including permanent removal. See our full Community Guidelines for the complete list.
