SCHOLARSHIP
We are open for applications
for the Fall 2026 semester!
All applications are due by May 20, 2026. If you have any questions, you can contact us at scholarships@mezalawfirm.com. Best of luck!
At The Meza Law Firm, PLLC, we believe in the power of language to help people in need. As a bilingual law firm focused on representing immigrants, we know just how challenging it can be to navigate a legal system behind a language barrier. Bilingual lawyers address a unique need in our society, advocating for people who would otherwise struggle to speak up for themselves.
We want to see more bilingual legal professionals in the field doing good work. In service of that ideal, we are opening the Bridging the Divide Scholarship for current or upcoming law students who are fluent in more than one language. We will award $1,000 to the winner of this scholarship for his or her continuing legal studies.
Qualifying for
the Scholarship
If you are interested in applying for the Bridging the Divide Scholarship, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- You must be fluent in at least two languages.
- You must be pursuing a major or minor in legal studies.
- You must be intending to attend school as an undergraduate, graduate, or Juris Doctorate student within the U.S. through the Fall 2026 semester.
- You must be at least 17 years old.
- You must be a citizen of the United States.
Please note that these requirements are non-negotiable. We can address any inquiries about eligibility at scholarships@mezalawfirm.com. We also ask that you provide proof of your enrollment at an accredited school. To meet this requirement, you can attach a digital copy of your class schedule or acceptance letter.
Submission
Requirements
We require all applicants to answer the
following prompt in video format:
How do you hope to utilize your bilingual skillset to benefit your future career? Elaborate on how your language background inspired you to pursue a major or minor in legal studies. In the final 20 to 30 seconds of your video, please demonstrate your other language.
The length of this video response should be approximately 3 minutes in length and submitted through the digital application below.
The Judgment
Process
We will judge all responses according to our evaluation criteria:
- Does the student completely address the prompt in their video submission?
- Does the response clearly demonstrate the student’s fluency in two or more languages?
- Is the student’s response authentic and well-organized?
Once the deadline passes, we will carefully review each application. The winner of the scholarship will hear back from us roughly one month after the deadline via email.
