The Mercury News
Fans of HBO’s “True Blood” and Apple TV’s “Widow’s Bay” will love this, a crisply written jaunt to the dark and even darker sides of desire, where everyone’s engaging in bawdy head games.

Yaga evokes a kind of weirdness combined with a sultry, thriller mystery that sucks you right into the story.

Its full potential, however, isn’t quite realized. The ideas are plentiful in Yaga, as are the thrills, but be prepared to have some key questions left unanswered.

Screen Rant
Overall, through seven episodes, Sandler's TV adaptation is an unexpected horror that meshes comedy, freakish drama, and mythology together in one solid package, and for anyone looking to add to their Halloween collection, this one is for you.

Yaga concocts one entertainingly heady brew, thanks to its beguiling mood and fearless cast. It’s just not, in the end, a fully satisfying one.

TV Guide
Yaga may have been compelling on stage, but as a serialized drama it struggles to hold its own.

Choppy pacing, poor casting and facile feminism all combine to make “Yaga” a misfire, one viewers in search of seasonal scares should overlook in favor of alternatives.

Gorgeous, sexy, Canadian thriller. Great to see Moss back and Hudson Williams is a star!

It's a very entertaining show, and the mystery keeps building; it gets more and more interesting, and you just can't stop watching! The cinematography is beautiful, the soundtrack is incredible, and the actors are 1000/10.

this show really surprised me with how much i ended up liking it. one of my favorite things was just how it looked and sounded. the color grading was beautiful, the small town setting was perfect for this kind of story, and the slovak music was such a cool touch. it really helped set the mood. carrie-anne moss was probably one of my favorite parts of the whole show. she's so good at making even the simplest scenes interesting. we need more of her though! clark backo was another highlight for me and i thought she gave a really natural performance. hudson williams was great too (but this is a smaller role for him for any heated rivlry fans), especially seeing him take on two completely different roles. rapp's character definitely got on my nerves, but i actually liked that he wasn't written to be particularly likable. he added some interesting tension to the story. i also thought the narration was a really clever way to tell the story. there were some strange moments but that's part of what made it fun to watch. i liked that it wasn't predictable or trying to be a typical mystery show. really hoping there's more because i want to see where this story goes!

I stopped watching after the first 10 minutes as I couldn't stomach the sexist crap spewed from the male Sheriff Ecker's mouth who references children's literature about fairies (which are typically female) as sluts and the female character Carson played by a black woman as a "fairy ****". Eckert is depicted as a sexist buffoon when "men were men" which she condones. I am sick to death of male writers thinking this kind of sexism is okay for the sake of entertainment. Women are treated as the lowest of the low in every society globally with 1 in 3 women being sexually assaulted and next to no justice for them. Programs that are meant to entertain that portray men as sexist and misogynist idiots who sexually harass women while portraying officers of the law is vile, disgusting and vulgar.

It has mediocre hammy acting with pointless meandering plot and slow pacing .
