💡 New Data: AI Adoption at HBCUs Is Nearly Universal UNCF’s new report with Ellucian and Huston-Tillotson University shows a powerful trend: 98% of HBCU students and 96% of faculty are already using AI tools. 🔍 What stands out: - HBCU students and faculty are integrating AI into learning, teaching, and career preparation. - Adoption is high, but gaps around access, training, and institutional infrastructure remain. - HBCUs are uniquely positioned to define what equitable, future-ready AI use looks like. 📢 Call to action: We must invest in the training, infrastructure, and support systems that turn this momentum into sustainable, institution-wide capacity. 🔗 Read the full report: https://lnkd.in/eHbBgAyz #HBCUs #UNCF #AIinEducation #FutureOfLearning #EducationEquity #HigherEdInnovation

A mind is a terrible thing to waste, but a wonderful thing to invest in.
About us
The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) was established in 2021 to address the need for more robust and intentional training and development opportunities for staff and faculty at HBCUs and PBIs. The TLC intends to support participating HBCUs and PBIs in improving the quality of their curricula and instruction by providing access to resources and expertise that may not have been available in the past. The TLC will assist institutions in overcoming performance obstacles to drive change and support the formal, ongoing efforts that are made within institutions to improve the skill development and self-fulfillment of employees. Through a variety of programs, such as faculty and curriculum development, and fundraising training and strategic planning, the TLC will create customized approaches to meet institutions’ needs. In addition to engaging with institutional employees, the TLC will be a resource for internal UNCF training and organizational development needs.

In his recent Forbes article, “How AI Is Reshaping Classroom Learning, Not Replacing It,” Gary Drenik highlights how AI tools are transforming education by enhancing—not substituting—the essential human elements of teaching and learning. Key insights: 1️⃣ Human educators remain central. AI can streamline administrative tasks and personalize feedback, but empathy, mentorship, and judgment remain uniquely human. 2️⃣ AI supports, not supplants, learning. Thoughtful integration helps move from rote instruction to deeper inquiry and creativity. 3️⃣ Implementation matters. Effective use of AI requires training, ethical guardrails, and continuous refinement.
