Here are three places where this works in practice: 1️⃣ Customer feedback Instead of skimming a handful of survey responses, LLMs can help you make sense of thousands. By querying structured data, spotting patterns, and summarising what customers complain about, praise, or get confused by. 2️⃣ Expert knowledge Subject matter experts are busy and tired of repeating themselves. A well-designed LLM interviewer can capture their thinking asynchronously, one question at a time, then turn it into usable insight for positioning, content, and strategy. 3️⃣ Competitors Review site copies, job ads, and historical messaging from competitors. LLMs are good at synthesising this into a clear picture of how competitors position themselves, what they over-promise, and where they leave gaps.

To my friends in Academia (and anyone doing deep research): 🎓 I watched a PhD student use Claude 3 yesterday. She was doing a literature review. 1. Ask Claude to summarize a paper. 2. Copy the output. 3. Paste into Notion. 4. Spend 10 minutes fixing the citations, headers, and bold text that broke during the paste. 5. Repeat. She told me: "It's fine, it's just part of the job." No. It isn't. Your job is synthesis and insight. Formatting Markdown tables is overhead. I built the Pactify parser specifically for this use case. Want to automate doing market research? Here is a reusable workflow I use across problems and industries. Step 1: Ask better questions I start with ChatGPT. Not for answers. Only to generate the questions that must be answered. What would decide yes vs no? What all should be included in the issue tree? Step 2: Go get numbers, not vibes Those questions go to Perplexity. This is where I look for: • Market size, growth rates • Real examples Search first. Opinions later. Step 3: Evaluate the numbers Everything comes back to ChatGPT or Gemini. This time the task is very specific: • Which paths look viable vs risky? • What actions actually make sense next? Each tool plays to its strengths: • ChatGPT for expansive thinking, • Perplexity for reliable fact finding • ChatGPT or Gemini for structured evaluation. Product teams giving 30 call transcripts to ChatGPT and telling it "extract key insights using best practices from book X" 😬 Adding "using best practices from XYZ" in a prompt, like that's all it needs to unlock some magic super power. Somehow we're surprised when the insights we get back are shallow or difficult to use broadly. We're building an interview co-pilot for product teams doing continuous discovery. One thing we learned quickly is that, to improve insight extraction, you need to provide the right product and research context. Relying on what is said in the call (the transcript) and nothing else will give you a lot of things that sound "good or correct", but lack depth and quality. Think about everything that's not included in a customer transcript: → Research questions: The unspoken things you want to learn → Product and market knowledge → Other conversations and existing opportunities → Business goals and priorities All of this can influence "what's insightful" about a conversation. Your customers are already telling you exactly what to write but you're ignoring them 👀 So here's the problem. Most ecommerce stores write product descriptions like this. "Premium 60% cotton blend, buttery soft feel, everyday versatility." But AI doesn't care about technical specs. It cares about emotions. Your customers are already giving you the exact words to use and you're just not listening. Open your product reviews right now and look past the generic "great product" comments and find the emotional language people use when they're being real with you. Here's what I mean. Someone writes "As someone that is tall, 6'2, I love these shirts. Most shirts I buy do not fit quite right." That phrase "don't fit quite right" is gold. That's what someone types into ChatGPT when they're frustrated and looking for a solution. Another review says "They actually made me feel a little better about looking in the mirror, which says a lot." This person just told you they bought confidence, not a shirt. Take all these reviews and dump them into ChatGPT. Ask it to label sentences as frustration, relief, pride, or trust and you'll start seeing patterns emerge. Then put everything in a simple spreadsheet with three columns. Pain, hope, and fear. Just copy and paste the exact language from reviews. Pain column gets things like "shirts don't fit right, too tight in shoulders, shrinks after one wash." Hope column gets "feel better in the mirror, finally have a shirt that gets it." Fear column gets "worried about wasting money, looks generic." Now when someone asks ChatGPT "I need a shirt but I'm 6'2", guess which product shows up? The one that says "fits tall people" in the description. Not the one that says "premium combed cotton." Your customers are literally handing you the blueprint.
